Power of a public nature must neither be abused nor exceeded. Administrative law is the branch of public law which is principally concerned with ensuring that the government, government departments, tribunals and all authorities exercising public law functions act within the perimeters of their power. Judicial review is the backbone of administrative law and is the most potent judicial weapon available to an aggrieved individual to challenge the validity of the decision-making process of public authorities. Administrative Law in Malaysia sets out in clear and succinct language the applicable principles of Malaysian administrative law. This book contains the fruits of a detailed study of Malaysian and foreign, principally English and Australian, court decisions. To aid understanding, the text is rich in the facts of the leading cases and the judicial dicta explaining and applying the law to those cases. The substantive grounds of judicial review are explored and, where appropriate, readers are informed how the local law may differ from the position in major Commonwealth jurisdictions. This enables the reader to evaluate the strengths and limitations of the local position. The remedies available to the successful litigant are critically discussed and the legal position is summarised for easy understanding and application by busy legal practitioners. Where the local position is unclear or has not been directly considered by the courts, the book attempts to point the way forward. The liability of the government in tort and the availability of injunctions against the government are also covered in the book. Administrative Law in Malaysia is a book which should not be missed by lawyers, judicial officers, public authorities, in-house counsel and non-governmental organisations

The number of students who wishes to change their major is increasing everyday. There are quite a number of students who are still unsure about their future plans even though they have enrolled in a university program. A reason may be that the students are still in conflict about their own identity. Students who are doing their preparatory program should already develop their own identity, which is identity achievement. A survey aimed to study gender differences on the identity status among the preparatory students was conducted. A questionnaire regarding the students’ identity status was used to collect the data. A Likert scale with a four point system was used to measure responses on the questionnaire which consisted of the students’ view of their own choice of major, friendship, recreational activities, dating style and political believes. The findings of this study are important to the lecturers teaching the preparatory programs so that they are aware of their students’ sense of identity as well as help them reach identity achievement

Unbalance effect on rotating element is a condition resulted from an off centered mass concentration about a rotor s rotating centerline which will then generate centrifugal forces with increasing running speeds. This phenomenon will bring about excessive noise and vibration which in turn causing damages to the rotating elements and its support mechanism. To overcome this problem, a correction is required so as to minimize the excessive vibration as low as possible. In this study, unbalance problems including single and two-plane balancing are studied extensively by using theoretical influence coefficient method followed by the experimental verifications. Experimental procedure is performed by using trial mass to calculate the influence coefficient and the corrected mass values as well as the phase angles. The studies cover the static and dynamics balancing for the single plane and two-plane balancing respectively. Finally, the vibration reduction of the rotor is compared theoretically and experimentally. Based on the results, the improved vibration reduction could be obtained reasonably for both single and two-plane balancing by using influence coefficient method

Mobile applications have been acknowledged by societies as a support tool that can be accessed everywhere via smartphone or any handheld device. The use of technology nowadays is not only limited to normal people; it can also be used by the disable community. Hearing-impaired people usually receive education via sign language and the dictionary is one tool used in schools to teach hearing-impaired students. There are several issues related to sign language dictionary such as the thickness of dictionary which makes it difficult to bring anywhere. Besides, teachers and students need to take longer time to access the targeted information. This research is conducted based on two main aspects: development of mobile application for the dictionary for the hearing-impaired and evaluation involving experts in the related research. This mobile application has been developed based on the Software Development Model of Mobile Application Dictionary. This model consists of five phases, which are analysis, design, development, prototyping and evaluation. The evaluation on mobile application for the dictionary involved four experts who have evaluated the interface design and learning design. The human computer interaction for mobile principles, dual coding theory, cognitive load theory, and multimedia theory have been used in the development of the dictionary. Based on the experts’ review, it is found that the value of content validity index is 0.91 for the features of interface design and 0.83 for learning design. Hence, this shows the value of content validity index is acceptable. The research aim is to improve the quality of sign language learning for hearing-impaired students and community related to them

We are from Renaissance Sdn. Bhd. proudly presents our newest product from our company which is LUCY. It is a supplement drink that were made out of pure glucose. What makes our product differs from others is that our raw materials comes from the durian and pineapple peels which basically is just a waste product from the fruit. Our target customers focuses mostly on daily consumers who usually doing vigorously activities and heavy workers. This drink will provide them enough energy for all day long and also control their sugar intake for the diabetics which makes them healthier and energize. Some of the existing energy or supplement drinks in the market right now does not highlight where do they get the raw materials from and mostly the raw materials such as sugar were come from their main source such as sugar cane. However, with our technology we can get sugar from an alternate source and maximize its usage and also minimize the waste product as possibly as we can. We are fully confident that our product can generate enough profit to our company and make our business feasible. This is due to introduction of our new intakes on supplement and energy drinks and make it to whole new level. Also, we were determined that our product will give a whole new idea on how waste products can be manipulated to be as a good resources and thus bring a whole new green technology to this industry

Frequency Based Substructuring Method for the Investigation of the Dynamic Behaviour of a Beam Structure / Wan Imaan Izhan Wan Iskandar Mirza ...[et al.]

    Get PDF
Theoretically, the frequency based substructuring (FBS) method can be used to predict the dynamic behaviour of an assembled structure by combining some parts of the numerical and experimental frequency response functions (FRFs) of the substructures. However, the dynamic behaviour prediction via this method often leads to huge discrepancies in comparison with the test data. The discrepancies may be as a result of insufficient information on the experimental data, the rotational FRFs in particular which are very challenging to be accurately measured. One way to improve the quality of the dynamic behaviour prediction via the FBS method is by using 3D solid elements for modelling work. This is because the element type does not provide and require the rotational responses. Therefore, this study is aimed to evaluate the FRFs of a beam structure obtained from the FBS method using3D solid elements based finite element models. The test models in this study are simple aluminium beams that are coupled together using the FBS method. The resulting FRFs of the beam structure were compared with the experimental counterparts. The comparison of the FRFs showed good agreement. This indicates that there is a strong possibility of efficiently predicting the dynamic behaviour of an assembled structure using the 3D elements in FBS method

Fortunella polyandra (Ridl) Tanaka or Malayan kumquat, is a family of Rutaceae from Malaysia known for its various active compounds, especially flavonoids. This study aims to verify the optimum condition and correlation of leaves extract in Fortunella polyandra by ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) for antioxidant activities and apigenin 7-O-neohesperidoside (rhoifolin) contents using the response surface methodology (RSM). Central composite rotatable design (CCD) was performed to investigate the influence of the extraction parameters on maximum antioxidant activity, namely temperatures (X1), times (X2), and solvent ratios of ethanol:water (X3). The optimal extraction conditions for 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging activity were obtained at extraction time of 5 min, temperature of 30 °C and solvent ratio of 70:30, ethanol:water with IC50 value of 0.126±0.004 mg/mL. Rhoifolin content and ferric reducing antioxidant potential (FRAP) assay share the same optimum condition at extraction time of 5 min, temperature of 30 °C, and solvent ratio of 30:70, ethanol:water. Under these conditions, rhoifolin content was measured at 67.83±0.37 ppm, whereas FRAP equivalent value was recorded at 0.22±0.01 mg/mL. All three responses from the model achieved 95% confidence level. Correlation study showed that there is no relationship between the rhoifolin content and the antioxidant activities of Fortunella polyandra extract
