Solving Fuzzy Linear Programming Problems with Piecewise Linear Membership Function

In this paper, we concentrate on linear programming problems in which both the right-hand side and the technological coefficients are fuzzy numbers. We consider here only the case of fuzzy numbers with linear membership functions. The symmetric method of Bellman and Zadeh (1970) is used for a defuzzification of these problems. The crisp problems obtained after the defuzzification are non-linear and even non-convex in general. We propose here the modified subgradient method and method of feasible directions and uses for solving these problems see Bazaraa (1993). We also compare the new proposed methods with well known fuzzy decisive set method . Finally, we give illustrative examples and their numerical solutions

Comparison of the Listed Companies on the Stock Market in Terms of the Variables Affecting Operating Profit, Net Income and Operating Cash Flow, Return on Equity

Today the stock market is so important, it is said a country with a booming stock market and its shareholders has a direct relationship. Investors to invest, when to buy stocks, information on stock returns and the components will have an effect on stock returns. The most important sources of information to evaluate the performance of economic units, profits, investment decisions are considered a good indicator. This study compared the variables affecting operating profit, net income and operating cash flow return on shares in companies listed on the Stock Exchange Market. In this regard, the 32 companies listed on the Stock Exchange, in automotive industry and basic metals are selected and the 5-year interval from 2009 to 2012 was studied. The results showed a variable effect on the operating profit return on most car companies which are steel companies but the impact on net income and operating cash flow, return on equity is higher in steel company. “Do the editors-in-chief of Iranian medical journals have a good Knowledge, attitude and practice of plagiarism?”

Plagiarism is one of the misconducts which are specifically observed in scientific journals. It is important to prevent and reduce it in scientific communities. The chief editors of journals can play an effective role in this regard. Therefore, this study aims to determine the knowledge, attitude, and the practice (KAP) of the chief editors of scholarly journals in Universities of Iran about plagiarism. The data for this descriptive survey were collected through a researcher-made questionnaire which was developed and validated in three sections of knowledge, attitude, and practice. The statistical population of the study included all the chief editors of scholarly journals in Universities of Medical Sciences in Tehran. The scores of the editors were calculated separately in each section. The data collection procedure was followed either by email or in-person. The collected data were analyzed through SPSS. The chief editors’ score is %88.8 in the section of “knowledge of plagiarism” which represents a high score. The chief editors’ “attitude toward plagiarism” indicates a high level (%61.3), which represents a negative attitude of plagiarism, and their “practice” is also at a mid-level approaching towards high level. In general, the knowledge, attitude, and practice of chief editors about plagiarism are in a better status comparing to similar studies. However, it is expected that the editors in chief achieve a more favorable level in this regard

Realizing the Sustainable Development of Urban Economy in Identifying the Potential Range of City by Using SWOT Technique

As there is a direct and positive correlation among the potentials, opportunities and expectations and the population living in each place, these factors can have an impact on the characteristics of the people living in that area as well. Therefore, this article was developed as an assessment of urban economic development indicators to identify the potential range of Birjand city and after reviewing the existing situation, the descriptive-analytic method was used to explain the research topic and library and questionnaire methods were used to gather information. The obtained results indicate this fact that human's emanation is in response to growth needs and spaces development. Sustainability of this space and achieving to urban sustainable development require a kind of planning that could establish and select location of economic and social activities in two-dimensional space. However, the type and quality of the city's location changes the importance rang of this attitude to the town. Birjand city as a functional and economic center has relatively wide expanse of its surrounding settlements in terms of the functional radius. This area was generally based on political boundaries of Birjand city that their dependence range will vary based on the distance of areas from Birjand city. Urbanization process guiding in most areas due to the lack of participation of the private sector, because of economic weakness was done out of the region and the role of government and its policies in growth and development or stagnation of social and economic activities have great influence. Also, rural migration has a significant impact on the construction and function of city. The main reason for rural-urban migration was economic factors  such as poverty and unemployment, which is caused by unfavorable natural environment and the weakness of technique and capital and lack of proper planning of the state. This area is faced to the expanse level of road communication, commodity exchanges, existing economic and social interaction between Birjand city and surrounding centers of its sphere of influence which during the recent years the dependence rate of these centers to Birjand has been increasing. This paper attempts to assess the economic status of Birjand based on SWOT model which was conducted by using the Delphi method

The effect of pretreatment with hydroalcoholic extract of Alpinia officinarum rhizome on seizure severity and memory impairment in pentylenetetrazol-induced kindling model of seizure in rat

The aim of present study is to investigate pretreatment with hydroalcoholic extract of Alpinia officinarum rhizome on the severity of epilepsy and memory impairment in rat. In this experimental study, rats were randomly assigned to seven groups. Control group and negative control group were intraperitoneally injected with normal saline and PTZ, respectively, for 10 days. The intervention groups received A. officinarum extract at different doses (50, 100 and 150 mg/kg) 30 minutes before PTZ injection. A. officinarum extract treatment in rats with PTZ-induced kindling exerted significant increase in seizure latency and significant decrease in the frequency of total body seizure, frequent spinning, and jumping. Flumazenil significantly inhibited the antiepileptic effects of A. officinarum extract in the rat receiving the extract at 150 mg/kg. A. officinarum extract can inhibit PTZ-induced seizure and memory impairment, and therefore can be considered as a potent agent which warranted further research to clarify its effects. Approximation of Value Efficiency in DEA with negative data 1

This paper considers the problem of negative data in Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) models. Our focus is on how to calculate value efficiency in DEA models with negative data. In this paper, we will introduce an Multi Objectives Linear Programming (MOLP) model which its objective functions are input/output variables subject to the defining constraints of Production Possibility Set (PPS) of DEA models. So, we propose an effective method to find the best solution, such that by that we obtain the Most Preferred solution (MPS). Finally, value efficiency scores are calculated related to the inefficient units having the same value related to the MPS

Thermodynamic Quantities in the High Temperature Limit in the GUP Framework

We study the values of thermodynamic quantities of physical systems at high temperatures in the framework of the generalized uncertainty principle. First, we obtain the semi-classical partition function, internal energy and heat capacity for physical systems in a general case of deformed algebra. We show that at high temperatures limit the heat capacity vanishes and the internal energy is maximized. We calculate this temperature for the ultra-relativistic system in approximate form. Finally, the maximum temperature and maximum energy for the ultra-relativistic system are obtained in the framework of two different GUPs.The accepted manuscript in pdf format is listed with the files at the bottom of this page.
