Influence of the structure and composition of zeolite NaX on carbon dioxide adsorption under dynamic conditions

    Get PDF
Using the X-ray diffraction analysis, emission spectral analysis, low-temperature nitrogen adsorption, and electron spin resonance methods, the dynamic sorption capacity in removal of carbon dioxide from gas streams, exhibited by type NaX zeolite samples, was studied in relation to their phase and elemental compositions and crystal and pore structure characteristics. It was found that the criteria determining the capacity of the zeolite are the content of the crystalline phase, imperfection of the crystal structure as determined by the crystallite size and the amount of iron isomorphously substituting the aluminum cations in the tetrahedral sites of the zeolite, and the number of compensating sodium cations. © 2013 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd

Experience of the industrial use of alumina and KA zeolite in the processes of drying of olefin-containing mixtures in petrochemical industry

    Get PDF
Problems arising in relation to the use of alumina and zeolite KA in the processes of drying olefin-containing streams in petrochemical production lines were analyzed, and the advantages offered by zeolites were shown. The reasons for the domination of imported zeolites on the domestic market are considered, and recommendations for strengthening the positions of national zeolite manufactures are given. © 2009 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd

The analysis of the ultimate blast failure modes in fibre metal laminates

    Get PDF
Finite element modelling has been applied to simulate various failure modes in fibre metal laminate (FML) panels under localized high intensity blast loading. A relatively simple material model, based on continuum damage mechanics, has been proposed to describe the constitutive response of the composite material in the FMLs. Simulations of the blast response of FMLs with various stacking configurations has been carried out, capturing both perforation and non-perforation failure modes. Blast loading was modelled by a pressure function applied on the front face of the FML panel. The definition of the pressure function accounts for both the temporal as well as the spatial distribution of the blast. The capability of the models has been assessed by comparing the predictions associated with both low and high intensity blast cases with published experimental data. Good qualitative and quantitative agreement has been observed for lay-ups with similar proportions of aluminium and composite. It is believed that the models can be employed for use in parametric studies that would facilitate the adoption of FMLs in wider engineering design

Parameters of Lexicographic Description of New Vocabulary of Modern German in Electronic Dictionary of Neologisms of Leibniz Institute for German Language

    Get PDF
The problem of lexicographic fixation of neologisms at the present stage of development of German-language lexicography by private explanatory dictionaries of electronic format is considered. A fairly successful example of lexicographic practice was chosen as the object of the study — an electronic dictionary of neologisms of the modern German language on the lexicographic online portal of the Leibniz Institute for the German Language. The dictionary is a “living”, constantly updated edition, which is based on the criteria for the definition and classification of neologisms, developed by its compilers. The authors of the article performed an analysis of the parameters of the lexicographic description of neologisms in this dictionary. The question is raised about the mandatory or optional nature of the parameters used by the compilers of the dictionary when forming the microtext (dictionary entry). Standard and specific parameters of lexicographic description, which are profile for the dictionary of new words are distinguished: example-definition, first fixation, language reflection, encyclopedic information, representation in dictionaries, etc. The analysis of lexicographic practice sets the task of summarizing the practical experience of lexicographers in order to determine the optimal set of parameters for the codification of neology

Kinetic features of phase transformation of kaolinite into metakaolinite for kaolin clays from different deposits

The rate of the endothermic process of kaolinite transformation into metakaolinite was examined by X-ray phase and thermogravimetric analyses, as well as by means of differential scanning calorimetry, in relation to the particle size distribution and crystal structure characteristics of kaolinite in kaolin clays from different deposits. © 2012 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd

On-Off Intermittency in Time Series of Spontaneous Paroxysmal Activity in Rats with Genetic Absence Epilepsy

    Get PDF
Dynamic behavior of complex neuronal ensembles is a topic comprising a streamline of current researches worldwide. In this article we study the behavior manifested by epileptic brain, in the case of spontaneous non-convulsive paroxysmal activity. For this purpose we analyzed archived long-term recording of paroxysmal activity in animals genetically susceptible to absence epilepsy, namely WAG/Rij rats. We first report that the brain activity alternated between normal states and epilepsy paroxysms is the on-off intermittency phenomenon which has been observed and studied earlier in the different nonlinear systems.Comment: 11 pages, 6 figure

Sorption Properties of Clay and Pectin-Containing Hydrogels

    Get PDF
As is known, polymeric polyelectrolyte hydrogels are superabsorbents that are capable of absorbing moisture in amounts many times greater than their own mass. Numerous studies have shown that besides water absorption and retention, they can also be effectively used as sorbents to purify water from heavy metals. In many works, attempts are made to improve the sorption properties of polyelectrolyte hydrogels by creating polymer composites based on them. Organic/inorganic composite materials frequently exhibited desired hybrid performance superior to their individual components and cost-efficient characteristics. The composites derived from natural polysaccharides and inorganic clay minerals are of special interest by virtue of their unique commercial and environmental advantages, which means that the design and development of environmentally friendly superabsorbents, introducing natural ingredients, have long been necessary. In this paper, we consider polymer hydrogels based on a copolymer of acrylic acid and acrylamide filled with pectin and bentonite. The aim of this study is to investigate the influence of chemical conditions on hydrogels and their composites, kinetic, and absorption behavior toward metal ions in the presence of the chelating agent. In this chapter, an investigation of the kinetic patterns of swelling, deswelling, and sorption of the hydrogels and their composites will be presented

Review of Hydrological Peculiarities of the Flooding in the Amur Region with the Purpose to Establish a Complex of Sanitary-Anti-Epidemic Actions for Minimization of Social Implications

    Get PDF
Described are the chronology and main peculiarities of floods in the Amur Region within the historical period since 1872 till present time. Given are the data on the damage to the Amur-river territory economy as a result of catastrophic high waters in 1928, 1950s, 1984, 2007. Comprehensively discussed are the peculiarities of the flooding, August-September 2013 as one of the most intense and prolonged in the history of the hydro-meteorological observations in the Far East. It is found out that Zeisk and Bureisk hydroelectric power stations turned out to be the only buffer storage restraining two thirds of the water volume of Zeya and Bureya rivers inflow in their flowages over a period of flood. Outlined are the general guidelines for emergency response activities under high water conditions for the Rospotrebnadzor Administration Quarters in the Amur Region. Implementation of the complex of actions through the offices of the territorial Rospotrebnadzor institutions in cooperation with the executive authorities has allowed for the prevention of epidemiological implications, providing for favorable sanitary-epidemiologic situation at the time of high water
