    A Narrative Literature Review and E-Commerce Website Research

    In this study, a narrative literature review regarding culture and e-commerce website design has been introduced. Cultural aspect and e-commerce website design will play a significant role for successful global e-commerce sites in the future. Future success of businesses will rely on e-commerce. To compete in the global e-commerce marketplace, local businesses need to focus on designing culturally friendly e-commerce websites. To the best of my knowledge, there has been insignificant research conducted on correlations between culture and e-commerce website design. The research shows that there are correlations between e-commerce, culture, and website design. The result of the study indicates that cultural aspects influence e-commerce website design. This study aims to deliver a reference source for information systems and information technology researchers interested in culture and e-commerce website design, and will show lessfocused research areas in addition to future directions.Comment: 11 pages, 1 figur

    INVESTIGATION OF THE BULK, SURFACE AND TRANSFER PROPERTIES OF CHLORINE BLEACHED DENIM APPAREL AT DIFFERENT CONDITION

    Oxidizing bleaching agent (calcium hypochlorite or bleaching powder) is widely used in the apparel washing plant as a color removing and cost effective finishing chemical. As the faded denim or old look denim is preferred by the today’s youth it has become a crucial issue for the technologists to modify denim apparel to fulfill the demand of existing trend. Calcium hypochlorite (Ca(OCl)Cl) fades the denim effectively but a significant changes are happened in the properties of the denim apparel. The main objective of this paper was to investigate the changes of bulk, surface and transfer properties of denim apparel after the chlorine bleach action at varying length of washing time (10,15 and 30 min) with fixed concentration and temperature (50°C). These properties are related to the performance of the end product. 100% cotton indigo dyed 2/1 twill denim apparel was treated with 5gm/l (Ca(OCl)Cl). To determine the end use performance of the modified denim the changes of tensile strength, stiffness, dimensional stability (bulk properties), hand roughness, rubbing fastness (surface properties), air permeability, water repellency (transfer properties) of the modified denim apparel were evaluated. It has been monitored from the experimental data that the bulk properties play down but the surface properties have a noticeable improvement after the chlorine bleach action. It is also noticed that washing time has a significant effect on air permeability of the treated denim apparel

    Control of Some Human Pathogenic Bacteria by Seed Extracts of Cumin (Cuminum cyminum L.)

    Antibacterial activity of seed extracts of cumin (Cuminum cyminum L.) was investigated against 10 gram positive and gram negative bacteria. Disc diffusion method was used to test antibacterial activity. Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) were determined by using standard procedures. The highest (effective) inhibition zone of 16.67±0.47 mm was found at 250 mg/ml for Escherichia coli. On the other hand, the inhibition zones 15.00±0.82 mm for ethanol, 15.33±0.47 for methanol, and 15.67±0.82 for acetone were found against Bacillus subtilis, Sarcina lutea and Klebsiella pneumonia, respectively. MIC value (20 to 50 mg/ml) and MBC value (40 to 60 mg/ml) were measured against studied bacteria. On the basis of investigation, we can say, cumin seeds could be used as a source of new antibacterial agent for developing drugs to inhibit some human pathogenic bacteria

    True Stress-Strain Behavior of Al-based Cast Automotive Alloy Under Different Ageing Conditions and the Effect of Trace Zr

    A thorough investigation has been carried out on the Al-12Si-1Mg-1Cu-1Ni automotive alloy considering different properties, specially mechanical properties associated with true stress and true strain with Zr addition of trace amount. A commercially available piston is melted to produce the alloy, and trace amount of Zr is added to make another. The base alloy along with the Zr added alloy had been applied to homogenization, solution treatment, quenching, and ageing in order to get the age-hardening response. The alloys have been heat-treated at 25 ºC, 200 ºC, and 300 ºC, respectively, for four hours for attaining the under, peak and over-aged states, respectively. During ageing, Al2Cu and Mg2Si phases are formed in the aluminium matrix leading to peak-aged strength, which is reduced at over-aged state because of coarsening of precipitation and recrystallizing, shown by the tensile and hardness properties. When Zr is added to the alloy, Al3Zr phases appear while casting and heat-treatment, resisting the drop of strength at over-aged state. It is visible in the stress-strain diagram that at over-aged conditions, the alloy with trace Zr shows improved strength and ductility. In the micrographs of Zr added alloy, finer distributed grains are visible through the grain refinement of Zr, which also prevents recrystallization at over-aged conditions. The homogeneity of the grains as a result of the Zr addition's microstructural change was further confirmed by fractography. It is clear that adding Zr to such alloys does not greatly increase their strength, but it does restrict the declining of strength by preventing the production of thermally stable Al3Zr precipitates, which coarsens the resisting behavior of various intermetallics in the thermally damaged alloy

    The Influence of Audi Fees in the Nexus Between Corporate Sustainability Engagement and Earnings Management

    Purpose: This study aims to examine the relationship between corporate sustainability engagement and earnings management and the function of audit fees in that relationship.   Theoretical framework: Sustainability reporting and earnings management may not be applicable or generate the same outcomes due to differences in societal values, culture, and development levels between developed and developing countries, which emphasises the need for this study to focus on Bangladesh, an emerging market.   Design/methodology/approach: This research employs content analysis to determine the magnitude of the sustainability activities for 2010 to 2020 of the banking sectors of Bangladesh. Additionally, this study uses discretionary accruals as a proxy for earnings management.   Findings: According to the results, there is a significant positive relationship between corporate sustainability engagement and earnings management, with audit fees serving as a moderator in the negative direction. According to these findings, high audit costs are likely to compel bank executives to submit high-quality financial reports and restrict their use of sustainability activities to management opportunism.   Research, practical and social implication: The study's findings should concern researchers and corporate authorities interested about managers' earnings management aspirations. The findings will immediately impact academics and decision-makers in countries with similar financial and governmental systems.   Originality/value: According to sustainability reporting studies, disclosures have been driven by the need to calm concerns about a company's authenticity. This paper acknowledges the need for increased audit fees for quality auditors, but it argues that rigorous audit procedures are more important for raising financial disclosure standards.

    Status of major diseases of brinjal and tomato in charland of Jamalpur and Sherpur districts of Bangladesh

    Brinjal and tomato, both of these Solanaceous crops, suffer from different diseases based on their surrounding environment. In charland ecosystem, due to the current trend of climate change these two crops have become vulnerable to disease infection. A comprehensive survey was conducted in Jamalpur and Sherpur districts to measure the severity of major diseases of brinjal and tomato in this region during the rabi season of 2018-19. This survey was based on farmers’ fields targeting 10 different locations where brinjal and tomato were grown extensively. Data were collected from randomly selected farmer’s vegetable fields where incidence and severity were recorded. Through the survey, five (5) diseases based on their incidence and severity were categorized as major diseases in studied areas. Bacterial wilt of brinjal (60%) and viral disease of tomato (41.67%) were found to be higher in incidence. This was a major limiting factor for decreasing total brinjal and tomato production in the charland of Jamalpur and Sherpur. Wilting of tomato (20%), viral disease of brinjal (20%) and phomopsis blight of brinjal (13.33%) were medium in incidence at different locations. Farmers of these areas found these diseases to be a serious threat to future cultivation and expansion of brinjal and tomato in charland
