    Au@Ag nanoparticles: halides stabilize {100} facets

    Seed-mediated growth is the most efficient methodology to control the size and shape of colloidal metal nanoparticles. In this process, the final nanocrystal shape is defined by the crystalline structure of the initial seed as well as by the presence of ligands and other additives that help to stabilize certain crystallographic facets. We analyze here the growth mechanism in aqueous solution of silver shells on presynthesized gold nanoparticles displaying various well-defined crystalline structures and morphologies. A thorough three-dimensional electron microscopy characterization of the morphology and internal structure of the resulting core‚Äďshell nanocrystals indicates that facets are preferred for the outer silver shell, regardless of the morphology and crystallinity of the gold cores. These results are in agreement with theoretical analysis based on the relative surface energies of the exposed facets in the presence of halide ions

    [ES] Este art√≠culo recoge los principales resultados de un estudio realizado siguiendo la t√©cnica del an√°lisis de contenido en las plataformas de streaming sobre un total de 760 personajes (n = 760) de 33 series de Movistar+, HBO, Amazon Prime, Atresplayer Premium y Netflix. El objetivo es determinar si existen diferencias de g√©nero en la representaci√≥n de los personajes, rasgos de personalidad, actitudes, objetivos personales o laborales, tipo de empleo que desempe√Īan, comportamientos de salud e interacciones sociales. Algunas de las conclusiones fueron la infrarrepresentaci√≥n de la mujer y las orientaciones no heterosexuales, la perdurabilidad de los estereotipos de g√©nero en cuanto a objetivos personales y rasgos de personalidad, y la permanencia de la mujer en determinados puestos laborales.[EN] This paper carries out a content analysis on streaming platforms of a total of 760 characters (n = 760) from 33 series from Movistar+, HBO, Amazon Prime, Atresplayer Premium and Netflix.     15 páginasThe elderly has multiple comorbidities that often require treatment with multiple medications, so having strategies to lessen risks associated with pharmacological interactions and potentially inadequate prescribing (PIP) is of main importance. STOPP-START criteria are useful in identifying PIP along with other tools like LASA (Look-alike/Sound-alike) drugs and High risk medications (HRM). Objectives To characterize clinically and sociodemographically the population with PIP according to STOPP-START criteria, in hospitalized elderly patients during 6 months in a third-level hospital in Colombia, South America. Besides, to calculate the prevalence of PIP, LASA drugs and HRM and to identify other problems related with medication. Finally, to propose an algorithm for the identification of PIP in this population. Materials and methods: This was a descriptive, cross-sectional study in hospitalized patients older than 60 years during the first semester of 2021, to identify PIP according to STOPP-START criteria. An analysis of clinical and sociodemographic variables was conducted, as well as the construction of an algorithm to identify PIP in the elderly in an semiautomated way. Statistical analysis: Data was collected and analyzed using the software SPSS 2021, using descriptive statistics and measures of central tendency. Results Prevalence of PIP in the study population was 25%. 60% of patients had one problem related with medication and 27% used at least one LASA drug or HRM. Conclusions: This study allows to characterize, for the first time, the Colombian population prone to PIP, as well as the construction of an algorithm that identifies PIP in a semiautomated way.Especialización en Farmacología ClínicaEspecialista en Farmacología Clínic

    End-To-End procedure for IORT in brain metastases and film dosimetry

    Purpose: The study is intended to perform an end-to-end test of the entire intraoperative process using cadaver heads. A simulation of tumor removal was performed, followed by irradiation of the bed and measurement of absorbed doses with radiochromic films. Materials and Methods: Low-energy X-ray intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) was used for irradiation. A computed tomography study was performed at each site and the absorbed doses calculated by the treatment planning system, as well as absorbed doses with radiochromic films, were studied. Results: The absorbed doses in the organs at risk (OAR) were evaluated in each case, obtaining maximum doses within the tolerance limits. The absorbed doses in the target were verified and the deviations were <1%. Conclusions: These tests demonstrated that this comprehensive procedure is a reproducible quality assurance tool which allows continuous assessment of the dosimetric and geometric accuracy of clinical brain IORT treatments. Furthermore, the absorbed doses measured in both target and OAR are optimal for these treatments

    De los diccionarios tradicionales a las Bibliogu√≠as virtuales en conservaci√≥n del patrimonio se desarrolla el proceso de Knowledge Management y los alumnos son parte investigadora y productora del conocimiento gracias a las conversaciones con los bibliotecarios, archiveros y especialistas en digitalizaci√≥n. Las conversaciones e interacciones en el espectro real o presencial tienen su reflejo en el marco virtual gracias a la tecnolog√≠a, cuyas narrativas pasan de ser lineales a interconectadas gracias a los metadatos y recuperadas a trav√©s de las palabras clave de los diccionarios y tesauros en conservaci√≥n del patrimonio cultural. Experiencias de innovaci√≥n docentes previas como el Diccionario de ‚ÄúTerminolog√≠a b√°sica de conservaci√≥n y restauraci√≥n del Patrimonio Cultural 2. Conversations and interactions in the real or face-to-face spectrum are reflected in the virtual framework thanks to technology, whose narratives go from being linear to interconnected thanks to metadata and retrieved through the keywords of dictionaries and thesauri in cultural heritage conservation. Previous teaching innovation experiences such as the Dictionary of "Basic Terminology of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage 2. Spanish - English - French - Italian - German" directed by Ana Calvo (PID 2015 no. 293) serve as a support point to understand the importance of terms and keywords in digital searches and are related to the classification thesauri of libraries.     Reducing the environmental impact of surgery on a global scale: systematic review and co-prioritization with healthcare workers in 132 countries

    Abstract Background Healthcare cannot achieve net-zero carbon without addressing operating theatres. The aim of this study was to prioritize feasible interventions to reduce the environmental impact of operating theatres. Methods This study adopted a four-phase Delphi consensus co-prioritization methodology. In phase 1, a systematic review of published interventions and global consultation of perioperative healthcare professionals were used to longlist interventions. In phase 2, iterative thematic analysis consolidated comparable interventions into a shortlist. In phase 3, the shortlist was co-prioritized based on patient and clinician views on acceptability, feasibility, and safety. In phase 4, ranked lists of interventions were presented by their relevance to high-income countries and low‚Äďmiddle-income countries. Results In phase 1, 43 interventions were identified, which had low uptake in practice according to 3042 professionals globally. In phase 2, a shortlist of 15 intervention domains was generated. In phase 3, interventions were deemed acceptable for more than 90 per cent of patients except for reducing general anaesthesia (84 per cent) and re-sterilization of ‚Äėsingle-use‚Äô consumables (86 per cent). In phase 4, the top three shortlisted interventions for high-income countries were: introducing recycling; reducing use of anaesthetic gases; and appropriate clinical waste processing. In phase 4, the top three shortlisted interventions for low‚Äďmiddle-income countries were: introducing reusable surgical devices; reducing use of consumables; and reducing the use of general anaesthesia. Conclusion This is a step toward environmentally sustainable operating environments with actionable interventions applicable to both high‚Äď and low‚Äďmiddle‚Äďincome countries

    En primer lugar, deseo felicitar a los estudiantes que han desarrollado la iniciativa de hacer esta revista a partir del trabajo en la asignatura Taller de Dise√Īo Editorial en colaboraci√≥n con los miembros del Club de Dise√Īo Editorial Red Grid. Tanto el proyecto de la revista como el desarrollo del club son iniciativas de formaci√≥n complementaria en las que los estudiantes tienen la posibilidad de desarrollar competencias y habilidades personales, interpersonales y profesionales. Vale la pena resaltar que hoy en d√≠a, un buen profesional no solo es capaz de entender tem√°ticas relacionadas con su profesi√≥n mediante un proceso l√≥gico de pensamiento, de resolver problemas profesionales basados en el conocimiento aprendido y de proponer desarrollos innovativos en √°reas de aplicaci√≥n de su conocimiento, lo cual ya es bastante. Adicionalmente, hoy en d√≠a se requiere que un profesional haya desarrollado competencias personales e interpersonales muy diversas, como la autonom√≠a, el manejo del tiempo, el trabajo en equipo, la capacidad para atender m√ļltiples frentes simult√°neamente, ser capaz de asumir y hacer frente a la presi√≥n que el trabajo puede generar, etc. Sin estas competencias al profesional le resultar√° muy complicado poder aplicar su conocimiento en distintos contextos.     The main objective of this article is to determine the relationship between salary and well-being of employees in managerial positions in several companies in Villavicencio, Colombia, including their descriptive features and characteristics. In the business environment, compensation implies an exchange and becomes a tool that can offer a balance for the relationship between the employee and the employer. For this purpose, it is necessary to know if the benefits are in accordance with the remuneration provided. A descriptive methodology was used with inferential elements, correlation and comparison of groups; the quantitative method was used due to the nature of the data and the analysis made in the study. The research had the participation of 457 collaborators at the management level of 400 companies in Villavicencio, from different economic sectors. It was found that there is a positive correlation between salary and well-being, that the sex of the people does not determine the ability to find a job in a managerial position, that the position of administrator is the one with the lowest salary and that those who occupy these positions are generally young people between 18 and 35 years old. The study is aimed at human science, since it can be a guide for companies to know and incorporate labor welfare and establish a balance and compare their salaries with respect to others.El principal objetivo del art√≠culo es conocer c√≥mo es la relaci√≥n entre el salario y el bienestar de los colaboradores de cargos directivos de varias empresas de Villavicencio, incluyendo sus descriptivos y caracter√≠sticas. En el √°mbito empresarial la compensaci√≥n implica un intercambio y se convierte en una herramienta que puede brindar un equilibrio para la relaci√≥n entre el empleado y el empleador; para ello es necesario conocer si los beneficios son coherentes con la remuneraci√≥n brindada. Se utiliz√≥ una metodolog√≠a de tipo descriptivo con elementos inferenciales, de correlaci√≥n y comparaci√≥n de grupos; el m√©todo usado fue cuantitativo por la naturaleza de los datos y el an√°lisis que se realiz√≥ en el estudio. Para esta investigaci√≥n se cont√≥ con la participaci√≥n de 457 colaboradores del nivel directivo de 400 empresas de Villavicencio, de diferentes sectores econ√≥micos. Se encontr√≥ que existe una correlaci√≥n positiva entre el salario y el bienestar, que el sexo de las personas no determina la capacidad de hallar un empleo en un cargo directivo, que el cargo de administrador es el de menor salario y quienes ocupan estos cargos suelen ser j√≥venes entre 18 y 35 a√Īos de edad. El estudio est√° dirigido a la ciencia humana, ya que puede ser una gu√≠a para que las empresas conozcan e incorporen el bienestar laboral y establezcan un equilibrio y comparen sus salarios respecto a otros.L'objectif principal de cet article est de d√©terminer la relation entre le salaire et le bien-√™tre des employ√©s occupant des postes de direction dans plusieurs entreprises de Villavicencio, en Colombie, y compris leurs caract√©ristiques descriptives. Dans le monde des affaires, la r√©mun√©ration implique un √©change et devient un outil qui peut offrir un √©quilibre dans la relation entre l'employ√© et l'employeur; pour cela, il est n√©cessaire de savoir si les avantages sont en accord avec la r√©mun√©ration fournie. Une m√©thodologie descriptive a √©t√© utilis√©e avec des √©l√©ments d√©ductifs, des corr√©lations et des comparaisons de groupes; la m√©thode quantitative a √©t√© utilis√©e en raison de la nature des donn√©es et de l'analyse effectu√©e dans le cadre de l'√©tude. La recherche a impliqu√© la participation de 457 collaborateurs du niveau de la direction de 400 entreprises de Villavicencio, issues de diff√©rents secteurs √©conomiques. Il a √©t√© constat√© qu'il existe une corr√©lation positive entre le salaire et le bien-√™tre, que le sexe des personnes ne d√©termine pas la capacit√© √† trouver un emploi √† un poste de direction, que le poste d'administrateur est le moins bien r√©mun√©r√© et que ceux qui occupent ces postes sont g√©n√©ralement des jeunes √Ęg√©s de 18 √† 35 ans.
