    Status of Θ13

    The Neutrino mixing angle θ13 is at the focus of current neutrino research. Till 2010 the value of θ13 was assumed to be zero. Thanks to a number of consistent experimental efforts now we have a definitive value of θ13. Its measured value is sin22θ13≈ 0.1. This has promising implications for the determination of the two remaining unknown parameters, sign of the ∆m231 and CP violating phase δCP from the present and proposed accelerator neutrino experiments in the foreseeable future

    Comparison Of ALT In Type 2 Diabetics with And Without Fatty Liver Disease

    Objective: To determine the association of alanine aminotransferase in type 2 diabetic patients with and without fatty liver disease. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was done for six months at Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zaid Al-Nahyan Hospital Rawalakot. In our study, we included all the patients who presented to the outpatient department (OPD) having type 2 diabetes mellitus. Their age, gender, height, weight, and duration of diabetes mellitus were noted. Their liver function test (LFTS), fasting blood sugar and HBA1c, and fasting lipid profile were also done at the time of their OPD visit and results were noted. They were given an appointment for an ultrasound abdomen from the radiology department for detection of fatty liver disease and the results were noted on the next OPD visit. Results: Total study population was 90 patients and out of which 35 (38.8%) were male and 55 (61.1%) were female. 58 years was the mean age of our study population. Fatty liver was present in 50% of patients. ALT was raised from a baseline value of 36 in 61% of patients while fasting blood sugar was raised in 83% of patients. The mean fasting blood sugar was 208 mg/dl. ALT was not significantly different in patients with and without fatty liver disease. However, it was found that patients with uncontrolled blood glucose levels have significantly raised ALT which was also statistically proven as the P value was less than 0.05. Also, patients with high blood glucose have a higher incidence of fatty liver disease as compared with normal blood glucose level patients but the difference was not statistically significant as shown by a P value more than 0.05. Conclusion: Fatty liver disease is more common in Type 2 diabetic patients with uncontrolled blood sugar. There is a high rate of raised ALT in diabetic patients whose blood sugar control is not optimum

    Problems Encountered by Women in Education Sector of Bahawalpur

    As we all know that education is crucial in the development of any country. The main focus of this research is to identify the problems faced by working women in education sector. We discovered that most of the parents and certain relatives are supportive towards their daughter serving in the education sector. All our respondents strongly believed that the married women face greater challenges than unmarried women. Although their husbands are co-operative but there children are prominently neglected. Despite the supportive attitude of their parents unmarried women still face challenges like transportation and managing time between personal and social life. Most of the respondents, married or unmarried, believed that their salary and promotion system is not satisfactory for which they blame “Favouritism”. In spite of all the facts, our research concludes that the education sector of Bahawalpur for female teacher is fairly good. Keywords: Women, Education Sector, Bahawalpur

    Sehat Sahulat Program Effect on Patients Presenting to Secondary Level Hospital in Mardan

    OBJECTIVES The aim was to find the difference between government and private hospitals at the Mardan secondary level for sehat sahulat card effect on patients for their selection of hospital, dates, and time issues for elective and emergency cases with department facilities. METHODOLOGY This quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted to see the difference between the government and private hospitals for sehat the sahulat program effect on patients. Patients care is important on both sides but to find out the difference where more work should be done to achieve universal global health under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for the benefit of their people’s health. RESULTS Total patients 10112 visited District Head Quarter (DHQ) hospital from February 2021 to February 2022 while 5672 were in a private hospital in which the ratio for gynaecology was 19 % (854 pts. DHQ) and 31% (1652) private hospital. Medical admissions were 2224 (50%) for a government hospital and none for private while surgical admissions were 1379 (31%) for government and 2665 (50%) for private hospitals. The significant ratio for chi-sq was P<0.5 CONCLUSION Government hospital flow of patients is more than the private sector in admission ratio for medical cases then surgical while private has more flow for surgical admission than medical with all facilities provided on the desk and timely managed at the time of admission. Seniorm consultant’s ratio of surgeries in private is more than in government hospitals

    Cadmium toxicity alleviation through exogenous application of gibberellic acid (GA3) in mustard (Brassica juncea (L.) czern.) and rapeseed (Brassica rapa L.)

    An experiment was carried out by considering adverse impact of heavy metals on human health through consumption of crops. To alleviate the adverse effects of cadmium (Cd) toxicity through foliar application of gibberellic acid (GA3), two varieties of Brassica including Indian mustard (Brassica juncea (L.) Czern.) commonly known as ‘Raya’ and rapeseed (Brassica rapa L.) as ‘Toria’ were studied. The Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was used with eight treatments including control in four replicates. Treatments were as following, T0 (control), T1 (150 μM CdCl2), T2 (50 mg/L GA3), T3 (75 mg/L GA3), T4 (100 mg/L GA3), T5 (150 μM CdCl2 + 50 mg/L GA3), T6 (150 μM CdCl2 + 75 mg/L GA3), and T7 (150 μM CdCl2 + 100 mg/L GA3). Gibberellic acid (GA3), a plant growth regulator applied exogenously. The concentration of cadmium (150 μM CdCl2) resulted in Cd toxicity affected adversely the morphological and biochemical parameters. Foliar application of GA3 (50 mg, 75 mg and 100 mg) positively influenced the various growth parameters as root length (30 cm), shoot length (129.75 cm), number of leaves (14.5), pods per plant (88) and biochemical parameters like total chlorophyll (0.19 mg/g), protein content (0.70 mg/mL), carbohydrates (0.37 mg/mL) and CAT (0.56 units/mg). Outcome indicated that GA3 reduces the harmful effects of Cd stress in both varieties. It was concluded that all growth and yield parameters of variety ‘Raya’ were better as compared to variety ‘Toria’, hence Raya recommended for large scale cultivation with GA3 under Cd stress

    The objective of this study is to determine the influence of Trust, Security, Price, Service Quality, and Risk Perception on Purchase Decisions of E-commerce users through Shopee. This is a quantitative study using a data collection technique of a questionnaire distributed through Google form with a sample size of 100 respondents processed with SPSS version 23. The data analysis uses multiple linear regression. The results of the hypothesis test show that: (1) trust affects purchase decisions; (2) security affects purchase decisions; (3) price does not affect purchasing decisions; (4) service quality does not affect purchasing decisions; and (5) risk perception affects purchase decision of E-commerce consumers through the Shopee website.Trus

    Traffic Related Air Pollution Exposure Effect on Circulating White Blood Cell Counts in Healthy Individuals

    During this short term study a total of 110 samples were collected from the selected individuals of study area. This study was aimed to count the White blood cells in the blood samples of individuals, who were mostly exposed to exhaust fumes (air pollution), like traffic constables, cooks and shopkeepers. For this purpose blood samples were taken into an evacuee container having anticoagulant Ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid (EDTA) so to prevent coagulation of blood, for the count of WBCs, heamocyto-meter was used. During the study the body mass index and blood pressure was also measured by digital blood pressure measuring apparatus. Samples were observed under the microscope. It was found that 15% (13,133±2544.081) sampled individuals had increased WBCs and 85% (7821±1482.76) normal WBCs. In female samples 50% (11900±2151.27) were observed with above range of WBCs and other 50% (8540±844.39) with normal range of WBCs count, non-had WBCs count lower than the normal WBCs. Mostly had normal and few had above the range. One way ANOVA has been used to analyze connection of exposure to air pollution with counts of circulating white blood cells

    Improvement of the Self-Controlled Hyperthermia Applications by Varying Gadolinium Doping in Lanthanum Strontium Manganite Nanoparticles

    In this study, silica-encapsulated gadolinium was doped in lanthanum strontium manganite nanoparticles (NPs) with different concentrations using the citrate–gel auto-combustion method. We focused on tuning the Curie temperature and enhancing the specific absorption rate (SAR) of silica-coated gadolinium-doped lanthanum strontium manganite NPs to make them suitable for self-controlled magnetic hyperthermia. The samples were characterized by using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and magnetic measurements to examine the structural, optical, and magnetic properties of the manganite NPs. While our results exhibit a successful doping of gadolinium in lanthanum strontium manganite NPs, we further prepared magnetic core NPs with sizes between 20 and 50 nm. The Curie temperature of the NPs declined with increasing gadolinium doping, making them promising materials for hyperthermia applications. The Curie temperature was measured using the magnetization (M-T) curve. Magnetic heating was carried out in an external applied AC magnetic field. Our present work proved the availability of regulating the Curie temperature of gadolinium-doped lanthanum strontium manganite NPs, which makes them promising candidates for self-controlled magnetic hyperthermia applications

    Background: To determine the frequency of EVRin chronic hepatitis C (CHC) patients treated withInterferon and Ribavirin and to compare the effect ofIL-28B SNP rs12979860 (CC and non CC genotypes)on frequency of EVR.Methods: In this cross-sectional study 100 patientswith Chronic Hepatitis C (CHC) with genotype 3who received Interferon and Ribavirin in thestandard doses were categorized in two groupsdepending upon the IL-28B SNP rs12979860 CC andnon CC genotypes. Results of Qualitative PCR forHCV RNA after 12 weeks of treatment and EVRwere entered. Frequency of EVR in the two groups(CC and non CC) was compared.Results: Among the 100 patients with ChronicHepatitis C treated with Interferon and Ribavirin, 72patients achieved EVR (72%). Out of the 100patients, 52 had CC genotype and 48 had non-CCgenotype (40 with CT and 8 with TT genotype). Inthe CC group 47 out of 52 patients achieved EVR(90%) while in the non-CC group 25 out of 48patients achieved EVR (52%). The p value in ourstudy was 0.00Conclusion: The frequency of EVR is 72% inChronic Hepatitis C patients infected with genotype3 treated with Interferon and Ribavirin which iscomparable with Pegylated Interferon and Ribavirin.Patients with IL-28B SNP rs12979860 CC genotypehave a better chance to achieve EVR (90%) ascompared to the non-CC genotype (52%)
