    Constantina contemporánea

    Get PDF
The Contemporary History of Spain is worked on in the classroom, but do the students know the History of where they live? Constantina is a small town that hides great things, which I want to make known to the 6th grade students of Primary Education. For this I have developed an animated guide in a very visual way and told as if it were a story. Accompanied by some optional activities that seek to promote critical thinking and creativity in students. In addition, the connection with the History of Spain is maintained. It will be a journey from the French Invasion to the Civil War, where numerous prominent characters from the town will appear, as well as anecdotes that enrich each story. All this has been elaborated through an initial information search process with its respective synthesis and a subsequent design that has shaped all the content and information to be worked on. With this methodology, a guide has been achieved that includes the most relevant of the locality accompanied by illustrations that characterize each chapter. All students will know the recent times from which we come and will feel more proud than ever to be part of Constantine, a town that has history.Universidad de Sevilla. Grado en Educación Primaria

Silhouette-based human action recognition with a multi-class support vector machine

    Get PDF
This paper has been presented at : 9th International Conference on Pattern Recognition Systems (ICPRS 2018)Computer vision systems have become increasingly popular, being used to solve a wide range of problems. In this paper, a computer vision algorithm with a support vector machine (SVM) classifier is presented. The work focuses on the recognition of human actions through computer vision, using a multi-camera dataset of human actions called MuHAVi. The algorithm uses a method to extract features, based on silhouettes. The challenge is that in MuHAVi these silhouettes are noisy and in many cases include shadows. As there are many actions that need to be recognised, we take a multiclass classification ap-proach that combines binary SVM classifiers. The results are compared with previous results on the same dataset and show a significant improvement, especially for recognising actions on a different view, obtaining overall accuracy of 85.5% and of 93.5% for leave-one-camera-out and leave-one-actor-out tests respectively.Sergio A Velastin has received funding from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement no. 600371, el Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad (COFUND2013-51509) el Ministerio de Educación, cultura y Deporte (CEI-15-17) and Banco Santander

Previous studies have shown that stimuli associated with drugs canacquire motivational proprieties, which allow them to control operantbehavior for drug consumption/seeking and other types of reward. The current research investigated whether a conditioned stimulus(CS) that has been paired with ethanol is able to disrupt the rate ofresponding for a reward. A Pavlovian instrumental transfer experimentwas conducted with albino rats. The experimental group receivedpaired presentations of the CS (i.e, tone) and the unconditionedstimulus (US) (i.e., the effects of ethanol). Subjects in the controlgroup received random presentations of the US and the CS. The rateof operant behavior for food seeking in both the presence and theabsence of the CS was determined for the subjects. The results showthat a CS associated with ethanol increased the rate of responding forfood.

The ‘CheA’ and ‘CheY’ domains of Myxococcus xanthus FrzE function independently in vitro as an autokinase and a phosphate acceptor, respectively

    Get PDF
AbstractFrzE is a chemotaxis protein in Myxococcus xanthus which has sequence homology to two different chemotaxis proteins of enteric bacteria, CheA (autokinase) and CheY (phosphate acceptor) [Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 87 (1990) 5898–5902]. It was also shown that a recombinant FrzE protein was autophosphorylated when incubated in the presence of ATP and Mn2+ [J. Bacteriol. 172 (1990) 6661–6668]. In this study, we further investigated the biochemical properties of FrzE. Two recombinant proteins were produced: one containing only the ‘CheA’ domain of FrzE and the second only the ‘CheY’ domain. The CheA domain polypeptide contained the autokinase activity which was absent from the CheY domain polypeptide. The phosphorylated CheA domain polypeptide as well as the intact FrzE protein were able to transfer phosphate groups to the CheY domain peptide. These results indicate that FrzE has structural as well as functional homologies to CheA and CheY in a single polypeptide

Characterisation of the spatial sensitivity of classifiers in pedestrian detection

This paper has been presented at : 6th LatinAmerican Conference on Networked Electronic Media (LACNEM-2015)In this paper, a study of the spatial sensitivity in the pedestrian detection context is carried out by a comparison of two descriptor-classifier combinations, using the well-known sliding window approach and looking for a well-tuned response of the detector. By well-tuned, we mean that multiple detections are minimised so as to facilitate the usual non-maximal suppression stage. So, to guide the evaluation we introduce the concept of spatial sensitivity so that a pedestrian detection algorithm with good spatial sensitivity can reduce the number of classifications in the pedestrian neighbourhood, ideally to one. To characterise spacial sensitivity we propose and use a new metric to measure it. Finally we carry out a statistical analysis (ANOVA) to validate the results obtained from the metric usage. The work described here was carried out as part of the OB-SERVE project funded by the Fondecyt Regular programme of Conicyt (Chilean Research Council for Science and Technology) under grant no. 1140209. A Matlab Toolbox is developed for the design, construction and validation of grey-box neural network models. This toolbox, available in www.diinf.usach.cl=gacuna has been tested in simulations with a continuously stirred reactor process. The grey-box model performs well for validation data with 5% additive gaussian noise for one-step-ahead (OSA) and model-predictive-output (MPO) estimations

    Get PDF

This study is circumscribed to the scope of education, didactics, and classroom methodology. The results of an investigation with a quantitative approach will be analyzed, whose aim was to identify the perception and experiences related to creativity, as well as to pedagogical and educational innovation - the two latter concepts not always clear and distinguishable in theory and empirical studies. The research was done in a group of teachers who were just beginning their training process in a Graduate Degree in Didactics, taught in the School of Education at the Los Angeles Campus of the Universidad de Concepción, in the region of Biobío, Chile. The investigation had a descriptive approach and the main method for data collection was an opinion questionnaire with open questions. The main findings show that teachers in general and in a high percentage appreciate creativity, understand the concept of pedagogical innovation, but have difficulties to identify the difference between the latter and educational innovation due to its conceptual breadth. Furthermore, the results show that while teachers believe that innovation is necessary and that they are willing to do it in their pedagogical teaching activity, favorable conditions to implement it in schools are not always generated
