Energy consumption, economic growth, and CO2 emissions in G20 countries: Application of adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system
Understanding the relationships among CO2 emissions, energy consumption, and economic growth helps nations to develop energy sources and formulate energy policies in order to enhance sustainable development. The present research is aimed at developing a novel efficient model for analyzing the relationships amongst the three aforementioned indicators in G20 countries using an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) model in the period from 1962 to 2016. In this regard, the ANFIS model has been used with prediction models using real data to predict CO2 emissions based on two important input indicators, energy consumption and economic growth. This study made use of the fuzzy rules through ANFIS to generalize the relationships of the input and output indicators in order to make a prediction of CO2 emissions. The experimental findings on a real-world dataset of World Development Indicators (WDI) revealed that the proposed model efficiently predicted the CO2 emissions based on energy consumption and economic growth. The direction of the interrelationship is highly important from the economic and energy policy-making perspectives for this international forum, as G20 countries are primarily focused on the governance of the global economy
Analysis of challenges of digital service enabled by big data analytics technologies using a new integrated multiple-criteria decision-making (MCDM) method
[EN] The digitalization of services and products is an approach adopted by modern
companies to produce value. The key to success is knowing what your
customers are saying about your company by compiling data in many aspects
and reviewing the digital content collected from digitally enabled services. On
the other hand, text review is a highly subjective task. The raw data has
complex features, making analyzing the data on digital services a very complex
and intriguing problem. This study collects the main challenges of digitally
enabled services to offer an inclusive framework and describes the
framework's potential in dealing with application-specific challenges. This
study aims to suggest a data-driven decision-making model using the
“intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFSs)”, “method based on the removal effects of
criteria (MEREC)”, “rank sum (RS), and the “multi-attribute multi-objective
optimization with ratio analysis (MULTIMOORA)” approaches. The IFMEREC-RS tool computes the weights of the digital service challenges that big
data analytics technologies enable and the IF-MULTIMOORA method
prioritizes the technologies to assess the challenges. Then, an integrated
decision-making framework is developed to investigate these challenges'
subjective and objective weights using expert opinion. Using big data
analytics, the proposed model can assess the preferences of technologies over
different challenges. This study was supported by the research projects “FMNet: A network for rapid execution for scaling production of needed designs” funded by NSF grant : 2036917 and “MA Manufacturing Emergency Response Team (MERT) 2.0” project funded by EDA grant: 01-79Saberi, S.; Mardani, A. Insecure Employment Contracts during the COVID-19 Pandemic and the Need for Participation in Policy Making
Job security influences the ability of nurses to provide high-quality nursing care. The Iranian health system has always faced nursing shortages, and the COVID-19 pandemic has worsened this situation. Although nurses have been labelled ‘heroes’ across the globe, many of them have been hired using insecure employment contracts. This commentary aims to describe issues surrounding job contracts for Iranian nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic and discusses how the current situation can be improved. Iranian nurses are at the frontline of the fight against COVID-19 and need to receive better support in terms of job security and dignity. They should participate more in policymaking activities to improve their job condition and prevent the development and implementation of the short-term and insecure job contracts that lead to job insecurity
The Role of the Nurse in the Management of Medicines During Transitional Care: A Systematic Review
Purpose: To synthesise knowledge and to explore the role of the nurse in medicines management during transitional care.
Methods: An integrative systematic review was conducted. Electronic databases such as PubMed [including Medline], Web of Knowledge, Scopus, and Cinahl from January 2010 to April 2020 were searched. Original qualitative and quantitative studies written in English that focused on the role of the nurse in medicines management during transitional care, which included movement between short-term, long-term, and community healthcare settings were included.
Results: The search process led to the retrieval of 10 studies, which were published in English from 2014 to 2020. They focused on the role of the nurse in patients’ medicines management during transitional care in various healthcare settings. Given variations in the aims and methods of selected studies, the review findings were presented narratively utilizing three categories developed by the authors. In the first category as ‘medication reconciliation process’ the nurse participated in obtaining medication history, performing medication review, identifying medication discrepancies, joint medication reconciliation and adjustment. The second category as ‘collaboration with other healthcare providers’ highlighted the nurses’ role in clarifying medicines’ concerns, interdisciplinary communication and consultation, discharge planning and monitoring. In the third category as ‘provision of support to healthcare recipients’, the nurse was responsible for interpersonal communication with patients, education about medicines, and simplification of medication regimens, and symptoms management during transitional care.
Conclusion: Nurses play a crucial role in the safety of medicines management during transitional care. Therefore, they should be empowered and more involved in medicines management initiatives in the healthcare system. Patient safety and avoidance of medication errors during transitional care require that medicines management becomes a multidisciplinary collaboration with effective communication between healthcare providers.publishedVersio
Antifungal Effects of Thyme, Agastache and Satureja Essential Oils on Aspergillus fumigatus, Aspergillus flavus and Fusarium solani
Growth inhibition of Aspergillus fumigatus,Aspergillus flavus and Fusarum solani exposed to the essential oils including Thyme, Agastache and Satureja were studied. Disc Diffusion Method was used to evaluate the fungal growth inhibitory effects of the essential oils. Minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimal fungicidal concentration (MFC) of the oils were determined and compared with each other. The results showed that all three essential oils examined, had antifungal effects against three fungi species. The MIC data revealed that Thyme oil was the most effective essential oil with the MIC of 62.5 μl ml-1
