Best Time to Increase Bovine Calving Based on Dairy Indicators of Commercial Herds in Camagüey
The best time to increase calving based on dairy production indicators was determined. Records from 2 036 Holstein x Zebu cows were evaluated monthly. This research took place between 2008 and 2014, within a five-year pe-riod as minimum, in the three kinds of dairy facilities (Basic Unit of Cooperative Production, Basic State Farm, and a farm). The variables used were births, total milk production, average milk liter/cow/day, and milking cows, which were decomposed according to season using a multiplication model. Seasonal behavior was observed in all the variables without a defined general pattern present in the total dairy production, and milk liter per cow/day (peaks from June to October), which coincided with the beginning of the pasture production peaks. Total milk production and milk liter average per cow/day are elements that can help set up the best moment to increase calving
Influence of Body Condition on Teaser Bulls Libido with Artificial Phymosis.
The influence of body condition on teaser bull libido from commercial dairy herds at the Cattle Raising Enterprise Triángulo 1, in the province of Camagüey, Cuba was assessed. A number of 140 crossbred males (Holstein / Zebu) aged 13-75 months old were examined from 2007 to 2010. A linear regression model to evaluate the libido (0-10 scale) was used as independent variable for the body condition (1-5 scale). Libido reached 6.59 points ± 1.751 (typical deviation), considered between good and very good, and the body condition was 2.96 ± 0.598 (typical deviation), optimum for estrus detection. Libido increase was observed in relation with body condition maybe due to the high incidence of anestrus, and also due to limited rest with cows in estrus
Influence of Season and Daily Mating Time upon Sexual Libido of Artificially Phimotic Bull-Teasers.
Influence of season and time devoted to daily mating upon sexual libido of artificially phimotic bull-teasers was evaluated in female dairy cattle herds at the Livestock Center “Triángulo 1” in Camagüey, Cuba. To this end, 140 Holstein x Zebu crossbred males at ages between 13 and 75 months old were studied from 2007 to 2010. Samples statistic were estimated. A covariance analysis (ANACOVA) including age as a covariable was performed to eva-luate bull-teasers sexual libido as a dependent variable of daily mating time and season. Despite significant differ-ences (P < 0,000) in sexual libido concerning restricted daily mating (6,95 points) and free daily mating (5,94 points), none were found for season. These differences in findings are attributable to uncontrolled matings. Rotating bull-teasers and determining male-female rate by the service capacity test are recommended
Optimum Time to Increase Calving from Dairy Production Indicators of Commercial Bovine Herds in Camagüey.ABSTRACTThe best time to increase calving from milk production indicators was determined. Influence of Age on Sexual Libido of Bull-Teasers in Dairy Cattle Herds.
Influence of age on sexual libido of bull-teasers was evaluated in daily cattle herds at the Livestock Center “Triángulo 1” in Camagüey, Cuba. To this purpose, 140 Holstein x Zebu crossbred bull-teasers at ages from 13 to 75 months old were studied from 2007 to 2010. Sexual libido was evaluated as an age dependent variable by a linear regression model. Age (39,76 ± 19,89 month-old standard deviation) showed a significant positive influence upon sex-ual libido (6,59 points ± 1,75 standard deviation). Sexual libido increase with age was probably due to older bull-teasers’ social rank and experience. Although bull-teasers younger than 24 months old showed an acceptable minimal sexual libido and could be fit for their role if rationally managed, some other factors like body build, management, environment, and age group must be assessed to this end
Influence of Season and Daily Mating Time upon Sexual Libido of Artificially Phimotic Bull-Teasers.ABSTRACTInfluence of season and time devoted to daily mating upon sexual libido of artificially phimotic bull-teasers was evaluated in female dairy cattle herds at the Livestock Center “Triángulo 1” in Camagüey, Cuba.
Age Influence on Sexual Libido in Artificially Phimotic Bull-Teasers
Influence of age upon sexual libido in artificially phimotic bull-teasers was determined at the Livestock Center Triángulo 1 in Camagüey province, Cuba. One hundred and forty Holstein x Zebu crossbred animals at ages 13 to 75 months old were studied from 2007 to 2010. Sexual libido was evaluated as an age dependent variable by a linear regression model using the SPSS statistical package version 15.0.1. Age (39,79 months old ± 19,89 typical deviation) showed a significant positive influence on sexual libido (6,59 points ± 1,75 typical deviation). The increase in libido by age was probably due to social rank and experience of more mature males. However, males between 13 months of age or ever showed an acceptable minimal libido rate, hence they could be fit for their role if rationally used and their body built an access to female herd are taken into account.
