Time-Dependent Spintronic Transport and Current-Induced Spin Transfer Torque in Magnetic Tunnel Junctions
The responses of the electrical current and the current-induced spin transfer
torque (CISTT) to an ac bias in addition to a dc bias in a magnetic tunnel
junction are investigated by means of the time-dependent nonquilibrium Green
function technique. The time-averaged current (time-averaged CISTT) is
formulated in the form of a summation of dc current (dc CISTT) multiplied by
products of Bessel functions with the energy levels shifted by . The tunneling current can be viewed as to happen between the photonic
sidebands of the two ferromagnets. The electrons can pass through the barrier
easily under high frequencies but difficultly under low frequencies. The tunnel
magnetoresistance almost does not vary with an ac field. It is found that the
spin transfer torque, still being proportional to the electrical current under
an ac bias, can be changed by varying frequency. Low frequencies could yield a
rapid decrease of the spin transfer torque, while a large ac signal leads to
both decrease of the electrical current and the spin torque. If only an ac bias
is present, the spin transfer torque is sharply enhanced at the particular
amplitude and frequency of the ac bias. A nearly linear relation between such
an amplitude and frequency is observed.Comment: 13 pages,8 figure
Measurement of Ultra-Low Potassium Contaminations with Accelerator Mass Spectrometry
Levels of trace radiopurity in active detector materials is a subject of
major concern in low-background experiments. Among the radio-isotopes, \k40
is one of the most abundant and yet whose signatures are difficult to reject.
Procedures were devised to measure trace potassium concentrations in the
inorganic salt CsI as well as in organic liquid scintillator (LS) with
Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS), giving, respectively, the
\k40-contamination levels of and g/g.
Measurement flexibilities and sensitivities are improved over conventional
methods. The projected limiting sensitivities if no excess of potassium signals
had been observed over background are g/g and g/g for the CsI and LS, respectively. Studies of the LS samples
indicate that the radioactive contaminations come mainly in the dye solutes,
while the base solvents are orders of magnitude cleaner. The work demonstrate
the possibilities of measuring naturally-occurring isotopes with the AMS

Measurement of Trace I-129 Concentrations in CsI Powder and Organic Liquid Scintillator with Accelerator Mass Spectrometry
Levels of trace radiopurity in active detector materials is a subject of
major concern in low-background experiments. Procedures were devised to measure
trace concentrations of I-129 in the inorganic salt CsI as well as in organic
liquid scintillator with Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) which leads to
improvement in sensitivities by several orders of magnitude over other methods.
No evidence of their existence in these materials were observed. Limits of < 6
X 10^{-13} g/g and < 2.6 X 10^{-17} g/g on the contaminations of I-129 in CsI
and liquid scintillator, respectively, were derived.These are the first results
in a research program whose goals are to develop techniques to measure trace

Andreev Reflection in Ferromagnet/Superconductor/Ferromagnet Double Junction Systems
We present a theory of Andreev reflection in a
ferromagnet/superconductor/ferromagnet double junction system. The spin
polarized quasiparticles penetrate to the superconductor in the range of
penetration depth from the interface by the Andreev reflection. When the
thickness of the superconductor is comparable to or smaller than the
penetration depth, the spin polarized quasiparticles pass through the
superconductor and therefore the electric current depends on the relative
orientation of magnetizations of the ferromagnets. The dependences of the
magnetoresistance on the thickness of the superconductor, temperature, the
exchange field of the ferromagnets and the height of the interfacial barriers
are analyzed. Our theory explains recent experimental results well.Comment: 8 pages, 9 figures, submitted to Phys. Rev.
Some properties of the newly observed X(1835) state at BES
Recently the BES collaboration has announced observation of a resonant state
in the spectrum in
decay. Fitting the data with a state, the mass is determined to be
1833.7 MeV with statistic significance. This state is consistent
with the one extracted from previously reported threshold
enhancement data in . We study the properties of
this state using QCD anomaly and QCD sum rules assuming X(1835) to be a
pseudoscalar and show that it is consistent with data. We find that this state
has a sizeable matrix element leading to branching ratios
of and for
and for , respectively.
Combining the calculated branching ratio of and data on
threshold enhancement in , we determine the
coupling for interaction. We finally study branching ratios of
other decay modes. We find that can provide useful

Spin-Polarized Transport Across an LaSrMnO/YBaCuO Interface: Role of Andreev Bound States
Transport across an
LaSr_{3}/YBa_{3}_{7}_{3}$/YBCO and Ag/YBCO. In all cases, YBCO is used as bottom layer to
eliminate the channel resistance and to minimize thermal effects. The observed
differential conductance re ects the role of Andreev bound states in a-b
planes, and brings out for the first time the suppression of such states by the
spin-polarized transport across the interface. The theoretical analysis of the
measured data reveals decay of the spin polarization near the LSMO surface with

\psi(2S) Decays into \J plus Two Photons
Using \gamma \gamma J/\psi, J/\psi \ra e^+ e^- and events
from a sample of \psip decays collected with the BESII
detector, the branching fractions for \psip\ra \pi^0\J, \eta\J, and
\psi(2S)\ar\gamma\chi_{c1},\gamma\chi_{c2}\ar\gamma\gamma\jpsi are measured
to be B(\psip\ra \pi^0\J) = (1.43\pm0.14\pm0.13)\times 10^{-3}, B(\psip\ra
\eta\J) = (2.98\pm0.09\pm0.23)%,
B(\psi(2S)\ar\gamma\chi_{c1}\ar\gamma\gamma\jpsi) = (2.81\pm0.05\pm 0.23)%,
and B(\psi(2S)\ar\gamma\chi_{c2}\ar\gamma\gamma\jpsi) = (1.62\pm0.04\pm

Measurements of the observed cross sections for exclusive light hadrons containing at , 3.650 and 3.6648 GeV
By analyzing the data sets of 17.3, 6.5 and 1.0 pb taken,
respectively, at , 3.650 and 3.6648 GeV with the BES-II
detector at the BEPC collider, we measure the observed cross sections for
, , ,
and at the three energy
points. Based on these cross sections we set the upper limits on the observed
cross sections and the branching fractions for decay into these

Partial wave analysis of J/\psi \to \gamma \phi \phi
Using events collected in the BESII detector, the
radiative decay is
studied. The invariant mass distribution exhibits a near-threshold
enhancement that peaks around 2.24 GeV/.
