On the pion decay constant
The pion decay constant f_pi plays a crucial role in many areas of low energy
particle physics. Its value may e.g. be deduced from experimental data on
leptonic pion decays. Here, we provide comments on several aspects of this
evaluation. In particular, we point out that at the present level of
experimental accuracy, the value of f_pi is sensitive to the value of the pion
mass chosen in its chiral expansion.Comment: 15 pages, 3 figures. Accepted for publication in Phys. Lett.
Diffraction and an infrared finite gluon propagator
We discuss some phenomenological applications of an infrared finite gluon
propagator characterized by a dynamically generated gluon mass. In particular
we compute the effect of the dynamical gluon mass on and
diffractive scattering. We also show how the data on photoproduction
and hadronic reactions can be derived from the and
forward scattering amplitudes by assuming vector meson dominance and
the additive quark model.Comment: 4 pages, 7 figures, added references and figures, changed structure.

D^+ \to K^- \p^+ \p^+ : the low-energy sector
An effective chiral lagrangian, which includes scalar
resonances, is used to describe the process D^+ \rar K^- \p^+ \p^+ at
low-energies. Our main result is a set of five -wave amplitudes, suited to
be used in analyses of production data.Comment: Talk given at SCADRON 70 - Workshop on Scalar Mesons and Related

Scalar form factors and nuclear interactions
The scalar-isoscalar term in the two-pion exchange potential is
abnormally large and does not respect the hierarchy of effects predicted by
chiral perturbation theory. We argue that this anomaly is associated with
non-perturbative effects, which are also present in the scalar form
factor.Comment: Talk given at the 20EFB, Pisa, Italy, September 2007. 3 pages and 4

Pion-delta sigma-term
We use a configuration space chiral model in order to evaluate nucleon and
delta sigma-terms. Analytic expressions are consistent with chiral counting
rules and give rise to expected non-analytic terms in the chiral limit. We
obtain the results MeV and MeV, which are
very close to values extracted from experiment and produced by other groups.Comment: 18 pages, 4 figure
Minimal spontaneously broken hidden sector and its impact on Higgs boson physics at the Large Hadron Collider
We have studied a hidden sector of the SM with spontaneous symmetry breaking that opens many different scenarios for Higgs physics. We have shown that this hidden sector can affect the SM Higgs detection. In some speci c regimes it is still possible to detect the Higgs; in other scenarios the hidden sector would completely eclipse it
