    Actualmente, el COVID-19 constituye una enfermedad de alto riesgo, ya que, tiene un alto nivel de mortalidad, es así que, durante el último año varias familias han perdido seres queridos o conocidos de su entorno por las complicaciones de la enfermedad. Dado estas circunstancias, los familiares deben enfrentarse a varias situaciones emocionales ante la pérdida del ser querido, ya que, por las complicaciones de la enfermedad se estructuraron protocolos de bioseguridad para evitar el contagio. En este contexto, la presente investigación busca responder la pregunta: ¿Qué características tiene el proceso de duelo en las personas que han perdido un familiar durante la pandemia por el virus COVID 19? Para el estudio, la muestra se conformó con profesores y estudiantes de la carrera de psicóloga de la Universidad Politécnica Salesiana, Sede Quito a quienes se les aplico una encuesta, contemplando los factores relacionados al duelo, además de, estructurar una entrevista para complementar la información obtenida. Finalmente, de la información obtenida se procesó a través de un análisis de las entrevistas y las encuestas con estadística descriptiva.Currently, COVID-19 constitutes a high-risk disease, since it has a high level of mortality, which is why, during the last year, several families have lost loved ones or acquaintances from their environment due to the complications of the disease. Given these circumstances, family members must face various emotional situations in the face of the loss of a loved one, since, due to the complications of the disease, biosafety protocols were structured to avoid contagion. In this context, this research seeks to answer the question: How do people who have lost a family member cope with the grieving process in 2020, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic? For the study, the sample was made up of professors and students of the psychology career of the Salesian Polytechnic University, Quito Headquarters, to whom a survey was applied, considering the factors related to bereavement, in addition to structuring an interview to complement the information obtained.     Scale E-portfolio for Higher Education

    Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the integration of technologies in education accelerated. In this context, the Digital Portfolio is presented as a tool with characteristics that allow the development of various skills. Thus, the objective of this research was i) Design a scale to measure the usefulness of developing a digital portfolio in Education from the curricular, communicative, and informative aspects. In addition, ii) Validate the proposed scale by applying exploratory factor analysis. The design was instrumental and 271 Higher Education students participated. The scale was designed based on the literature review and validation was carried out by expert judges and cognitive interviews. The results indicate adequate validity and reliability indices; being made up of 22 items represented in 3 factors: 1) Development ofCurricular Aspects, 2) Digital Communication, 3) Development of Digital Information. It is concluded that the scale can be useful to measure and make visible the characteristics and pedagogical potential of digital portfolios in Higher Education

    En esta investigación se exploró la conexión existente entre variables en las alumnas de Educación. Es por eso, que se planteó un diseño de investigación de carácter correlacional vinculado con el tipo de estudio que se presenta, para responder a la pregunta y lograr dichos objetivos. Encontrando que la dimensión de procrastinación académica presenta un nivel medio del 92.9%. Además, se determina que los ítems-situaciones en los que procrastinan con frecuencia las alumnas está referido a: dejar los trabajos a última hora, evitar prepararse para los exámenes, posponer tareas que no son de su agrado, la falta de hábitos de estudio y desmotivación. Finalmente, se determinó que, el instrumento utilizado en esta investigación es válido y confiableIn this research, the existing connection between variables in Education students was explored.     El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo presentar un análisis de la estructura de capital y el costo de capital de dos empresas prestadoras de servicios de Acueducto y Alcantarillado de los municipios de Tunja y de Duitama en el departamento de Boyacá. Para su análisis se parte de la revisión de las teorías de estructura de capital y luego se enfatiza en las teorías Tradicional y del Pecking Order, cuyos supuestos han sido sustentados por varios autores desde la década de los años 50.     El presente proyecto de intervención tiene como fin el diseño e implementación de un sistema de evaluación de desempeño en la obra imprenta de casa salesiana Kennedy, con el fin de conocer el desempeño de los colaboradores en relación a las herramientas que posee talento humano. La metodología implementada en el presente proyecto está basada en sistema de evaluación por competencias tomada del autor Alles Martha (2015), la cual es un referente acerca del tema en Latino América, en donde posiciona a las competencias como el eje centrar para poder evaluar el desempeño en relación a las habilidades y comportamientos requeridos por el puesto de trabajo. Imprenta Don Bosco es una institución sin fines de lucro, la cual se encuentra entre las mejores imprentas del Ecuador y por ello su preocupación por mantenerse actualizados en las nuevas líneas de la administración del talento humano, ya que consideran que el capital humano de la institución es un protagonista esencial de su desarrollo.The purpose of the present intervention project is the design and implementation of a performance evaluation system in the Imprenta Don Bosco of Casa Salesiana Kennedy, in order to know the performance of the workers in relation to the tools that have Human Talent.     The requirements of modern education require changes that motivate students to learn in a different way than what has been done in a traditional way. For this reason, it is established to diagnose the current situation of the teaching and learning process of the English language in a public educational unit in the province of Manabí. Regarding the methodological approach, this work takes the form of a descriptive study, with theoretical, empirical and statistical methods, having a mixed approach with a mixed-concurrent design. The interview and survey were used as techniques and the questionnaire guides as an instrument. In addition, a type of non-probabilistic convenience sampling was applied. The results suggest that teachers still practice traditional methodologies in the classroom. This research shows the need to strengthen the teaching and learning process of the English language to achieve an optimal environment for acquiring this foreign language.Los requerimientos de la educación moderna requieren cambios que permitan motivar a los estudiantes en aprender de manera diferente a lo que se ha realizado de forma tradicional. Por ello, se establece diagnosticar la situación actual del proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje del idioma inglés en una unidad educativa pública en la provincia de Manabí. En cuanto al abordaje metodológico, este trabajo toma la forma de un estudio descriptivo, con métodos teóricos, empírico y estadístico, teniendo un enfoque mixto con un diseño mixto-concurrente. Se utilizó la entrevista y encuesta como técnicas y como instrumento las guías de cuestionario. Además, se aplicó un tipo de muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia. Los resultados sugieren que los docentes aún practican metodologías tradicionales en el aula de clase. Esta investigación evidencia la necesidad de fortalecer el proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje del idioma inglés para conseguir un ambiente óptimo en la adquisición de esta lengua extranjera

    The educational institutions are to say, the establishments where the citizenship endows with a pedagogical campus that strengthens it, is undoubtedly the most important of all. Because history speaks of education and its organisms as entities of great admiration, then, they are a refuge of great knowledge, and this includes the pedagogical. Undoubtedly, pedagogy plays a fundamental role in each educational institution, with the teacher being the person who appropriates this and links it in the best way with the students. The general purpose of this essay refers to literature and cinema as instruments or devices of a technological communication to transmit information, so that it’s creative and educational versatility allows students and professors to make a sketch of the functions and events that can be observed, comment, systematize, recreate, reflect, form and transform teaching. In the same way, that it manages to awaken new intellective faculties. In this way, only a transformation of teaching processes can ensure the improvement that is requested to education, which must resort to the communication media to save the classroom from obsolescence. For its part, technology must fill the classroom with a new spirit. Within this perspective, the ability to be in constant renovation is required to be able to renew not only the student population but the entire population.Las instituciones educativas son a decir, los establecimientos donde la ciudadanía se dota de un campus pedagógico que la fortalece, es sin duda, la más importante de todas. Por cuanto la historia habla de la educación y sus organismos como entes de gran admiración, pues, son albergue de gran conocimiento, y esto incluye lo pedagógico. Sin duda, la pedagogía juega un papel fundamental en cada institución educativa, siendo el profesor la persona que se apropia de esta y la vincula de la mejor forma con los estudiantes. El propósito general del presente ensayo, refiere a la literatura y el cine como instrumentos o dispositivos de una comunicación tecnológica para transmitir información, para que su versatilidad creativa y educativa permita a estudiantes y profesores hacer un bosquejo de las funciones y acontecimientos que se pueden observar, comentar, sistematizar, recrear, reflexionar, formando y transformando la enseñanza. De igual manera, Que logre despertar facultades intelectivas nuevas. De esta manera, sólo una transformación de los procesos de enseñanza podrá asegurar el mejoramiento que se pide a la educación, la cual debe recurrir a los medios comunicacionales para salvar al aula de la obsolescencia. Por su parte, la tecnología debe llenar de espíritu nuevo al aula misma. Dentro de esta perspectiva, se requiere la capacidad de estar en renovación constante para poder renovar no sólo a la población estudiantil sino a toda la población

    On dealing with death and dying : a qualitative study of the experiences of surgeons, oncologists, intensive care, and palliative medicine specialists.

    This thesis explores the experiences with death and dying of medical specialists who frequently deal with patients with life-threatening illnesses. Thirty-three participants from Surgery, Oncology, Intensive Care, and Palliative Medicine responded to interviews that lasted between 29 and 105 min, with an average length of 48 min. The interviews were analysed thematically. Measures to preserve qualitative rigour were employed from the initial stages of the process until the writing of the results. From the thematic analysis, four areas were chosen as a focus for the thesis, each was the subject of a separate paper: a) the experiences of surgeons, b) the experiences of palliative medicine specialists, c) the emotional connection as developed in the four specialties, and d) an analysis of commonalities and differences between specialties in how they experienced the death of their patients. Surgeons’ experiences and coping mechanisms, as described in Paper One, were influenced by personality traits favoured in surgical practice, such as distancing from patients. In contrast, participants from cancer surgery displayed a proclivity towards developing a closer relationship with their patients. Sources of support, particularly peer support, were not considered essential. Palliative medicine specialists were the focus of Paper Two. These participants highlighted the role of emotions, and emphasised their ability to derive positive meaning from their work. Religion was identified as a coping mechanism, and differences were identified in relation to those participants with no religious affiliation. The homogeneity of participants’ experiences was attributed to aspects that may refer to the philosophy of practice within palliative care. Paper Three drew on the emotional connection that developed between participants from all four specialties and their patients. Ambivalence about developing or refraining from establishing an emotional connection with their patients was the central theme. To reconcile the ambivalence, some participants resorted to finding a balance in their exchanges with patients, but tended to employ strategies that invalidated their emotional reactions. Other participants preferred an approach where they reaffirmed the emotional nature of working with dying patients. The common themes amongst the four specialties were the subject of the fourth paper. These themes were related to two overarching aspects: participants’ professional practice, and the impact of their professional role on their personal lives. Professional practice aspects were related to frequent exposure to death and dying, limited training opportunities, decision-making process, and the delivery of bad news. The impact of the professional roles on personal lives was related to these medical specialists’ experience of emotional uncertainty, individual differences (e.g. gender, years of medical practice), the impact of dealing with death and dying of their patients, and how they deal with death and dying without support. The findings presented in this thesis may be valuable in the development of strategies to support medical practitioners to deal with common aspects of medical practice, such as the recognition of one’s and others’ emotions, as well as to enhance learning opportunities through medical training. Furthermore, the results suggest that the focus of research should be widened from death itself, to experiences during practitioners’ entire contact with patients approaching death, particularly from when an impending death is acknowledged.Thesis (Ph.D.) -- University of Adelaide, School of Medicine, 201
