Impact of a nearby subhalo on the constraint of dark matter annihilation from cosmic ray antiprotons

Numerous simulations indicate that a large number of subhalos should be hosted by the Milky Way. The potential existence of a nearby subhalo could have important implications for our understanding of dark matter (DM) annihilation. In this study, we investigate the hypothetical presence of a nearby subhalo and set the upper limits on the DM annihilation cross section by analyzing the cosmic-ray antiproton spectrum. By presenting the ratios of annihilation cross section limits for scenarios with and without a nearby subhalo, we can quantitatively evaluate the potential impact of the nearby subhalo on the limits of the DM annihilation cross section. The impacts of the concentration model and the subhalo probability distribution have been considered. We explore the antiproton contribution of the potential nearby DM subhalo accounting for the DAMPE e±e^\pm spectrum at ∼1.4\sim 1.4 TeV and find that the current AMS-02 antiproton results do not place the constraint on this contribution.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figure

BackgroundAnxiety symptoms and dyslipidemia are common co-morbidities in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD), and there are complex pathophysiologic as well as clinical mechanisms underlying the association between the three. In this study, we investigated the prevalence and associated factors of severe anxiety in first-time hospitalized patients with MDD with dyslipidemia.MethodsWe included 708 patients with major depressive disorder with comorbid dyslipidemia and collected their sociodemographic and general clinical data as well as biochemical parameters such as lipids, thyroid function, and blood glucose. We also completed the Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA), Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD), Positive Symptom Scale (PSS), and Clinical General Impression Scale (CGI) to assess their clinical symptoms.ResultsThe prevalence of severe anxiety disorder was 11.02% in patients with MDD with comorbid dyslipidemia. Suicidal history, female gender, body mass index (BMI), HAMD score, PSS score, and FT4 level were risk factors for the development of severe anxiety symptoms. Higher HAMD scores, higher PSS scores, and suicidal history were influential factors in exacerbating severe anxiety symptoms.ConclusionThis study reports and identifies the prevalence of severe anxiety symptoms in first-time hospitalized MDD patients with dyslipidemia, as well as risk factors for anxiety symptoms and factors influencing their severity, and these identified factors may be potentially helpful and informative in preventing and intervening in severe anxiety disorders in this target population

Objective: Discussing the effects of Ziyinqingre prescription on the level of airway resistance (Rrs), airway response threshold (Dmin), airway conductance (sGrs) and the level of inflammatory cytokines interleukin-4 (IL-4) and interferon-γ (IFN-γ) of the bronchial hyper-responsiveness (BHR) cough patients.Method: 84 subjects diagnosed as BHR were randomly divided into 42 Chinese Traditional medicine group and 42 control group. The Chinese Traditional Medicine group received Ziyinqingre prescription twice a day and the control group received 10mg Montelukast Sodium tablets once a day for two weeks. Observe the clinical symptoms improvement and the changes of the level of the Rrs, Dmin, sGrs and IL-4, IFN-γ.Results: After receiving the medicine, the symptoms of the Chinese medicine group were obviously alleviated, the outcome was more satisfied than that of the control group. Compared with the control group, the level of Dmin increased and sGrs level decreased more obviously (P<0.05); the level of IL-4 decreased and IFN-γlevel increased more obviously in the Chinese medicine group (P<0.05).Conclusion: Ziyinqingre prescription can not only improve BHR patients’ symptoms, but reduce the level of bronchial responsiveness, which proved a better curative effect of Chinese medicine. The mechanism is probably due to relieving the airway inflammation by keeping the balance between Th1 and Th2 cells. Keywords: Ziyinqingre prescription; cough; bronchial hyper-responsiveness; therapeutic mechanis

Colloid chemistry approach to understand the storage stability of fermented carrot juice

Probiotic-fermented carrot juice (PFCJ) is a functional food, for which colloidal stability during storage is essential. The water-soluble polysaccharides (WSPs) it contains provide this stability as colloidal stabilizers; they are pectinic, mainly containing galacturonic acid, galactose and arabinose as monosaccharide units. The particle-size distribution, ζ potential, centrifugal sediment ratio, soluble solids content, total acid and structural features of these WSPs were evaluated as functions of storage time. The PFCJ displayed pseudoplastic fluid behavior. Molecular weight and solid morphology of WSPs did not change significantly with storage, although the molecular weights of WSPs showed a slight decrease. The storage stability is ascribed to its WSPs acting as electrosteric stabilizers (which are very robust colloidal stabilizers) by adsorbing onto the insoluble plant cell wall polysaccharides which comprise the dispersed phase in the suspension. Viscosity and particle size remained relatively stable when stored at 4 °C and 25 °C, while centrifugal sediment ratio, soluble solids content and total acid all increased significantly; these can also be explained in terms of the structure of the WSPs. This can provide guidance to choosing ingredients which improve storage stability and other properties of importance to consumers by using the precepts of electrosteric colloidal stabilization: e.g. the presence of water-soluble polysaccharides with long hydrophilic moieties
