Red Dragon AI at TextGraphs 2019 Shared Task: Language Model Assisted Explanation Generation
The TextGraphs-13 Shared Task on Explanation Regeneration asked participants
to develop methods to reconstruct gold explanations for elementary science
questions. Red Dragon AI's entries used the language of the questions and
explanation text directly, rather than a constructing a separate graph-like
representation. Our leaderboard submission placed us 3rd in the competition,
but we present here three methods of increasing sophistication, each of which
scored successively higher on the test set after the competition close.Comment: Accepted paper for TextGraphs-13 workshop at EMNLP-IJCNLP 2019. (5

Using a Portfolio Platform as a Tool to Engage: A Case Study of Nanyang Technological University School of Art, Design and Media
Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Libraries and the School of Art Design and Media (ADM) have recently embarked on a project to develop a school-wide portfolio platform – ADM Portfolios. Using an open-source platform, WordPress, the project aims to further engage the NTU-ADM community by collecting, curating, sharing and promoting the creative works of ADM students and alumni. Playing the dual roles of a consultant and a project manager, NTU Libraries work closely with the different ADM stakeholders, which includes the school’s top management, Office of Technical Operations, Offices of Publicity & Alumni, ADM Alumni Association (ADMAA), ADM Student Club and industry partners. This poster showcases the key components of the platform, the initiatives introduced to engage the ADM community, and the crucial roles that NTU Libraries has played in the project
Altmetrics is an Indication of Quality Research or Just HOT Topics
With the widespread use of social media tools in the discovery, dissemination and discussion of research output, altmetric measurements are fast gaining popularity and they supplement the traditional research metrics by tracking the number of social mentions of research articles. In recent years, there a few such tools and they adopt different models and have different coverage. Publishers such as Scopus and PLoS have already incorporated altmetrics in their websites. This paper seeks to make sense of these available tools and evaluate their effectiveness. Do they identify quality research or just HOT topics? This paper also analyses most cited papers from 18 different subject categories in Web of Science (WOS) and compares the results with an altmetrics database to find out the correlation between these 2 sets of data. This paper ends by highlighting how users could leverage altmetrics effectively to disseminate their works to a wider audience
Presenteeism of hotel employees: Interaction effects of empowerment and hardiness
Purpose
This study aims to investigate the two-way interaction effects of empowerment and hardiness on the presenteeism of hotel employees.
Design/methodology/approach
Data were collected from 358 hotel employees in Sabah, East Malaysia, via a questionnaire survey and analyzed using multiplicative regression analysis.
Findings
The results confirm the presence of a two-way interaction effect between empowerment and hardiness on the presenteeism of hotel employees at a significance level of 0.01. Further analysis indicates that the higher the level of hardiness, the greater is its negative effect on the relationship between empowerment and the presenteeism of hotel employees.
Research limitations/implications
The survey was cross-sectional and causal relationships among the variables cannot be inferred. The results were gathered from selected hotels and should not be generalized to all hotel employees in Sabah, East Malaysia.
Practical implications
The findings challenge the assumption of a positive association between empowerment and presenteeism and demonstrate that different levels of hardiness can influence this relationship. When empowering employees, management staff should also consider the provision of resilience-related training programs for less hardy employees. This would enable such employees to handle their presenteeism behavior arising from the increased level of empowerment.
Originality/value
This study provides the first empirical evidence of a two-way interaction effect of predictors on the presenteeism of hotel employees and could serve to influence mainstream journals in the presenteeism literature. Researchers could apply the analytical approach to examine future studies relating to higher-order effects of predictors on the presenteeism of hotel employees.

Can ChatGPT-like Generative Models Guarantee Factual Accuracy? On the Mistakes of New Generation Search Engines
Although large conversational AI models such as OpenAI's ChatGPT have
demonstrated great potential, we question whether such models can guarantee
factual accuracy. Recently, technology companies such as Microsoft and Google
have announced new services which aim to combine search engines with
conversational AI. However, we have found numerous mistakes in the public
demonstrations that suggest we should not easily trust the factual claims of
the AI models. Rather than criticizing specific models or companies, we hope to
call on researchers and developers to improve AI models' transparency and
factual correctness
