Railway Safety Risk Assessment and Control Optimization Method Based on FTA-FPN: A Case Study of Chinese High-Speed Railway Station
In order to make safety risk assessment more accurately and more reasonably for high-speed railway station in China, this paper analyzes risk factors of fault tree and transfers the fault tree of risk accident into fuzzy petri net and then builds the FPN-FTA model by combining the dynamic weighting fuzzy petri net (FPN) and fault tree analysis (FTA) based on the latter. This paper simulates the FTA-FPN model with Stateflow of Matlab software. Then, it builds up a bi-objective risk control model, making the minimum safety risk level and minimum necessary cost as the objectives, and it designs discrete particle swarm optimization algorithm to solve the risk control model. Finally, this paper selects stampede accident of Shijiazhuang high-speed railway station as an example in case study for assessing stampede risk level and gets the risk control schemes for this station. The results verify the feasibility and validity of the model and algorithm.

Visual saliency guided textured model simplification
Mesh geometry can be used to model both object shape and details. If texture maps are involved, it is common to let mesh geometry mainly model object shapes and let the texture maps model the most object details, optimising data size and complexity of an object. To support efficient object rendering and transmission, model simplification can be applied to reduce the modelling data. However, existing methods do not well consider how object features are jointly represented by mesh geometry and texture maps, having problems in identifying and preserving important features for simplified objects. To address this, we propose a visual saliency detection method for simplifying textured 3D models. We produce good simplification results by jointly processing mesh geometry and texture map to produce a unified saliency map for identifying visually important object features. Results show that our method offers a better object rendering quality than existing methods
Relationship between hyperlipidemia and the risk of death in aneurysm: a cohort study on patients of different ages, genders, and aneurysm locations
Aims: The study aimed to assess the association of hyperlipidemia and the risk of death in the aneurysm population, focusing on age, gender, and aneurysm location differences. Methods: All patients’ data on this retrospective cohort study were obtained from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care (MIMIC-III) database, and the baseline characteristics and laboratory parameters of all patients were collected. The COX regression model was established to explore the association of hyperlipidemia and the risk of death for patients with aneurysms. More importantly, subgroup analyses based on the age, gender, and aneurysm location differences were performed. Results: A total of 1,645 eligible patients were enrolled in this study. These patients were divided into the survival group (n = 1,098) and the death group (n = 547), with a total mortality rate of approximately 33.25%. The result displayed that hyperlipidemia was associated with a decreased death risk in aneurysm patients. In addition, we also found that hyperlipidemia was associated with a lower death risk of abdominal aortic aneurysm and thoracic aortic arch aneurysm among aneurysm patients aged ≥60 years; hyperlipidemia was only a protective factor for the death risk of male patients diagnosed with abdominal aortic aneurysm. For female patients diagnosed with abdominal aortic aneurysm and thoracic aortic arch aneurysm, hyperlipidemia was associated with a decreased death risk. Conclusion: The relationship of hyperlipidemia, hypercholesterolemia, and the risk of death for patients diagnosed with aneurysms was significantly associated with age, gender, and aneurysm location

Cyclic performance of viscoelastic dielectric elastomers with solid hydrogel electrodes
Hydrogels containing electrolyte can work as ionic conductors to actuate dielectric elastomer (DE) artificial muscles. Based on a popular design of a circular actuator, we study theoretically and experimentally the cyclic performance of acrylic DE actuators with solid hydrogel electrodes. The viscoelasticity of solid electrodes constrains the maximum strain that is attainable for one cycle of triangular voltage, and it also diminishes the accumulated increment of the maximum strain after many cycles of loadings.Engineering and Applied Science
The efficacy of mobile phone-based text message interventions (‘Happy Quit’) for smoking cessation in China
Background
Considering the extreme shortage of smoking cessation services in China, and the acceptability, feasibility and efficacy of mobile phone-based text message interventions for quitting smoking in other countries, here we propose a study of “the efficacy of mobile phone-based text message interventions (‘Happy Quit’) for smoking cessation in China”. The primary objective of this proposed project is to assess whether a program of widely accessed mobile phone-based text message interventions (‘Happy Quit’) will be effective at helping people in China who smoke, to quit. Based on the efficacy of previous studies in smoking cessation, we hypothesize that ‘Happy Quit’ will be an effective, feasible and affordable smoking cessation program in China.
Methods/Design
In this single-blind, randomized trial, undertaken in China, about 2000 smokers willing to make a quit attempt will be randomly allocated, using an independent telephone randomization system that includes a minimization algorithm balancing for sex (male, female), age (19–34 or \u3e34 years), educational level (≤ or \u3e12 years), and Fagerstrom score for nicotine addiction (≤5, \u3e5), to ‘Happy Quit’, comprising motivational messages and behavioral-change support, or to a control group that receives text messages unrelated to quitting. Messages will be developed to be suitable for Chinese. A pilot study will be conducted before the intervention to modify the library of messages and interventions. The primary outcome will be self-reported continuous smoking abstinence. A secondary outcome will be point prevalence of abstinence. Abstinence will be assessed at six time points (4, 8, 12, 16, 20 and 24 weeks post-intervention). A third outcome will be reductions in number of cigarettes smoked per day.
Discussion/Implications
The results will provide valuable insights into bridging the gap between need and services received for smoking cessation interventions and tobacco use prevention in China. It will also serve as mHealth model for extending the public health significance of other interventions, such as mental health interventions
The flavor-changing single-top quark production in the littlest Higgs model with T parity at the LHC
The littlest Higgs model with discrete symmetry named "T-parity"(LHT) is an
interesting new physics model which does not suffer strong constraints from
electroweak precision data. One of the important features of the LHT model is
the existence of new source of FC interactions between the SM fermions and the
mirror fermions. These FC interactions can make significant loop-level
contributions to the couplings , and furthermore enhance the cross
sections of the FC single-top quark production processes. In this paper, we
study some FC single-top quark production processes, and
, at the LHC in the LHT model. We find that the cross sections of
these processes are strongly depended on the mirror quark masses. The processes
and have large cross sections with heavy mirror
quarks. The observation of these FC processes at the LHC is certainly the clue
of new physics, and further precise measurements of the cross scetions can
provide useful information about the free parameters in the LHT model,
specially about the mirror quark masses.Comment: 20 pages, 5 figure
Weight self-misperception and Obesity-related Knowledge, Attitudes, Lifestyle Behaviors and Cardio-metabolic Markers among Chinese School-aged Children and Adolescents
Abstract
Objective:
The relationships between childhood weight self-misperception and obesity-related factors particularly health markers have not been extensively discussed. This study aims to examine the associations between weight self-misperception and obesity-related knowledge, attitudes, lifestyles and cardio-metabolic markers among Chinese pediatric population.
Design:
Cross-sectional study.
Setting:
Data sourced from a national survey in Chinese seven provinces in 2013.
Participants:
Children and adolescents aged 5-19 years.
Results:
Of the total 14079 participants, there were 14.5% and 2.2% participants over-estimated and under-perceived their weight, respectively. Multi-variable logistic regression was applied to calculate odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (95% Cl) of obesity-related behaviors and cardio-metabolic markers by actual and perceived weight status. Individuals who perceived themselves as overweight/obese were more likely to have prolonged screen time, insufficient dairy intake, and over sugar-sweetened beverages consumption (all P<0.05), regardless of their weight. Furthermore, actual overweight/obese individuals had higher odds of abnormal cardio-metabolic markers, but a smaller magnitude of association was found among weight under-estimators. Among non-overweight/obese individuals, weight over-estimation was positively associated with abdominal obesity (OR: 10.49, 95% CI: 7.45, 14.76), elevated blood pressure (OR: 1.30, 95% CI: 1.12, 1.51), and dyslipidemia (OR: 1.43, 95% CI: 1.29, 1.58).
Conclusions:
Weight over-perception was more prevalent than under-estimation, particularly in girls. Weight over-estimators tended to master better knowledge but behave more unhealthily, both weight over-perception and actual overweight/obesity status were associated with poorer cardio-metabolic markers. Future obesity intervention programs should additionally pay attention to the population with inaccurate estimation of weight who were easily overlooked
Properties and Asteroseismological analysis of a new ZZ ceti discovered by TMTS
Tsinghua university-Ma Huateng Telescope for Survey (TMTS) aims to discover
rapidly evolving transients by monitoring the northern sky. The TMTS catalog is
cross-matched with the white dwarf (WD) catalog of Gaia EDR3, and light curves
of more than a thousand WD candidates are obtained so far. Among them, the WD
TMTS J23450729+5813146 (hereafter J2345) is one interesting common source.
Based on the light curves from the TMTS and follow-up photometric observations,
periods of 967.113 s, 973.734 s, 881.525 s, 843.458 s, 806.916 s and 678.273 s
are identified. In addition, the TESS observations suggest a 3.39 h period but
this can be attributed to the rotation of a comoving M dwarf located within 3".
The spectroscopic observation indicates that this WD is DA type with Teff =
11778+/-617K,log g = 8.38+/-0.31,mass=0.84+/-0.20Msun and age=0.704+/-0.377
Gyrs. Asteroseismological analysis reveals a global best-fit solution of Teff
=12110+/-10K and mass=0.760+/-0.005Msun,consistent with the spectral fitting
results, and Oxygen and Carbon abundances in the core center are 0.73 and 0.27,
respectively. The distance derived from the intrinsic luminosity given by
asteroseismology is 93 parsec, which is in agreement with the distance of 98
parsec from Gaia DR3. Additionally, kinematic study shows that this WD is
likely a thick disk star. The mass of its zero-age main-sequence mass is
estimated to be 3.08 Msun and has a main-sequence plus cooling age of roughly
900 Myrs.Comment: 10 pages, 10 figures, accepted for publication in MNRA
