High Pressure Effects on Superconductivity in the beta-pyrochlore Oxides AOs2O6 (A=K, Rb, Cs)
Recently new pyrochlore oxides superconductors AOs2O6 (A=K,Rb,Cs) were found
and we measured the pressure dependence of magnetization up to 1.2 GPa in order
to deduce the pressure effect of Tc in the three beta-pyrochlore oxides. It is
found that the initial pressure dependence of Tc is positive for all the
compounds. Only KOs2O6 exhibits a saturation in Tc at 0.56 GPa and the downturn

A second phase transition and superconductivity in the beta-pyrochlore oxide KOs2O6
Another phase transition that is probably of first order is found in the
beta-pyrochlore oxide superconductor KOs2O6 with a superconducting transition
temperature Tc of 9.6 K. It takes place at Tp=7.5 K in the superconducting
state in a zero magnetic field. By applying magnetic fields of up to 140 kOe,
the Tc gradually decreased to 5.2 K, while Tp changed little, eventually
breaking through the Hc2 line at approximately 65 kOe in the H-T diagram. Both
the normal-state resistivity and Hc2 change slightly but significantly across
the second phase transition. It is suggested that the transition is associated
with the rattling of potassium ions located in an oversized cage of osmium and

Properties of the Nearly Free Electron Superconductor Ag5Pb2O6 Inferred from Fermi Surface Measurements
We measured the Fermi surface of the recently discovered superconductor
Ag5Pb2O6 via a de Haas-van Alphen rotation study. Two frequency branches were
observed and identified with the neck and belly orbits of a very simple, nearly
free electron Fermi surface. We use the observed Fermi surface geometry to
quantitatively deduce superconducting properties such as the in-plane and
out-of-plane penetration depths, the coherence length in the clean limit, and
the critical field; as well as normal state properties such as the specific

Synthesis of superconducting pyrochlore RbOs2O6
RbOs2O6, the third superconducting pyrochlore oxide (known so far), has been
synthesized by encapsulation and by high pressure techniques. Suitable post
chemical treatment of the as-prepared sample allowed us to eliminate the
impurity phases. Bulk superconductivity with Tc=6.4 K was observed in
magnetisation and specific heat measurements. The transition temperature of
RbOs2O6 was found to be the same for both preparation methods. Structural
investigations showed that Rb atoms occupy the 8b site in the pyrochlore

Locally preferred structure in simple atomic liquids
We propose a method to determine the locally preferred structure of model
liquids. This latter is obtained numerically as the global minimum of the
effective energy surface of clusters formed by small numbers of particles
embedded in a liquid-like environment. The effective energy is the sum of the
intra-cluster interaction potential and of an external field that describes the
influence of the embedding bulk liquid at a mean-field level. Doing so we
minimize the surface effects present in isolated clusters without introducing
the full blown geometrical frustration present in bulk condensed phases. We
find that the locally preferred structure of the Lennard-Jones liquid is an
icosahedron, and that the liquid-like environment only slightly reduces the
relative stability of the icosahedral cluster. The influence of the boundary
conditions on the nature of the ground-state configuration of Lennard-Jones

New beta-Pyrochlore Oxide Superconductor CsOs2O6
The discovery of a new beta-pyrochlore oxide superconductor CsOs2O6 with Tc =
3.3 K is reported. It is the third superconductor in the family of
beta-pyrochlore oxides, following KOs2O6 with Tc = 9.6 K and RbOs2O6 with Tc =
6.3 K. The Tc of this series decreases with increasing the ionic radius of
alkaline metal ions, imposing negative chemical pressure upon the Os pyrochlore

Sequential Quantum Teleportation of Optical Coherent States
We demonstrate a sequence of two quantum teleportations of optical coherent
states, combining two high-fidelity teleporters for continuous variables. In
our experiment, the individual teleportation fidelities are evaluated as F_1 =
0.70 \pm 0.02 and F_2 = 0.75 \pm 0.02, while the fidelity between the input and
the sequentially teleported states is determined as F^{(2)} = 0.57 \pm 0.02.
This still exceeds the optimal fidelity of one half for classical teleportation
of arbitrary coherent states and almost attains the value of the first
(unsequential) quantum teleportation experiment with optical coherent states.Comment: 5page, 4figure
Influence of carrier lifetime on quantum criticality and superconducting Tc of (TMTSF)_2ClO_4
This work presents and analyzes electrical resistivity data on the organic
superconductor (TMTSF)ClO and their anion substituted alloys
(TMTSF)(ClO)(ReO) along the least conducting
axis. Nonmagnetic disorder introduced by finite size domains of anion ordering
on non Fermi liquid character of resistivity is investigated near the
conditions of quantum criticality. The evolution of the -linear resistivity
term with anion disorder shows a limited decrease in contrast with the complete
suppression of the critical temperature as expected for unconventional
superconductivity beyond a threshold value of . The resulting breakdown of
scaling between both quantities is compared to the theoretical predictions of a
linearized Boltzmann equation combined to the scaling theory of umklapp
scattering in the presence of disorder induced pair-breaking for the carriers.Comment: 13 pages, 8 figure
Anomalous magnetic phase in an undistorted pyrochlore oxide Cd2Os2O7 induced by geometrical frustration
We report on the muon spin rotation/relaxation study of a pyrochlore oxide,
Cd2Os2O7, which exhibits a metal-insulator (MI) transition at T_{MI}~225 K
without structural phase transition. It reveals strong spin fluctuation
(>10^8/s) below the MI transition, suggesting a predominant role of geometrical
spin frustration amongst Os^{5+} ions. Meanwhile, upon further cooling, a
static spin density wave discontinuously develops below T_{SDW}~150 K. These
observations strongly suggest the occurrence of an anomalous magnetic
transition and associated change in the local spin dynamics in undistorted
pyrochlore antiferromagnet.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
