A nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation for gravity-capillary water waves on arbitrary depth with constant vorticity: Part I
A nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation for the envelope of two-dimensional
gravity-capillary waves propagating at the free surface of a vertically sheared
current of constant vorticity is derived. In this paper we extend to
gravity-capillary wave trains the results of \citet{thomas2012pof} and complete
the stability analysis and stability diagram of \citet{Djordjevic1977} in the
presence of vorticity. Vorticity effect on the modulational instability of
weakly nonlinear gravity-capillary wave packets is investigated. It is shown
that the vorticity modifies significantly the modulational instability of
gravity-capillary wave trains, namely the growth rate and instability
bandwidth. It is found that the rate of growth of modulational instability of
short gravity waves influenced by surface tension behaves like pure gravity
waves: (i) in infinite depth, the growth rate is reduced in the presence of
positive vorticity and amplified in the presence of negative vorticity, (ii) in
finite depth, it is reduced when the vorticity is positive and amplified and
finally reduced when the vorticity is negative. The combined effect of
vorticity and surface tension is to increase the rate of growth of modulational
instability of short gravity waves influenced by surface tension, namely when
the vorticity is negative. The rate of growth of modulational instability of
capillary waves is amplified by negative vorticity and attenuated by positive
vorticity. Stability diagrams are plotted and it is shown that they are
significantly modified by the introduction of the vorticity
Online Testing of User Profile Resilience Against Inference Attacks in Social Networks
International audienceTo increase awareness about privacy threats, we have designed a tool, SONSAI, for Facebook users to audit their own profiles. SONSAI predicts values of sensitive attributes by machine learning and identifies user public attributes that have guided the learning algorithm towards these sensitive attribute values. Here, we present new aspects of the system such as the automatic combination of link disclosure attacks and attribute prediction. We explain how we defined sensitive subjects from a survey. We also show how the extended tool is fully interfaced with Facebook along different scenarios. In each case a dataset was built from real profiles collected in the user neighbourhood network. The whole analysis process is performed online, mostly automatically and with accuracy of 0.79 in AUC when inferring the political orientation
Sistem Klasterisasi Menggunakan Metode K-Means Dalam Menentukan Posisi Access Point Berdasarkan Posisi Pengguna Hotspot Di Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto
Leveraging generative adversarial networks to create realistic scanning transmission electron microscopy images
The rise of automation and machine learning (ML) in electron microscopy has
the potential to revolutionize materials research through autonomous data
collection and processing. A significant challenge lies in developing ML models
that rapidly generalize to large data sets under varying experimental
conditions. We address this by employing a cycle generative adversarial network
(CycleGAN) with a reciprocal space discriminator, which augments simulated data
with realistic spatial frequency information. This allows the CycleGAN to
generate images nearly indistinguishable from real data and provide labels for
ML applications. We showcase our approach by training a fully convolutional
network (FCN) to identify single atom defects in a 4.5 million atom data set,
collected using automated acquisition in an aberration-corrected scanning
transmission electron microscope (STEM). Our method produces adaptable FCNs
that can adjust to dynamically changing experimental variables with minimal
intervention, marking a crucial step towards fully autonomous harnessing of
microscopy big data.Comment: 25 pages, 6 figures, 2 table
Effect of CuO Doped Polyvinyl Alcohol on the Structural and Optical Properties of PVA Films
The effect of copper oxide doped in PVA on the structural and optical properties of composite films is studied experimentally. Samples are PVA films of 20±1 µm thickness doped with different studied using X – ray diffraction. Using the transmittance of samples, the effect of doped and their concentration on optical parameters of PVA films include absorption and others parameters. Results show the band gap energy of samples is decreased. Keywords : PVA films, doping, optical properties
