    A Survey on the Educational Benefits of Compulsory Education in B Land of Tibet

    The outcome of education includes students’ academic achievement and social adaptability. In order to explore the current situation and factors of outcome of education in the compulsory education stage of Tibetan agricultural and pastoral areas, junior high school students from 5 counties of B agricultural and pastoral areas are selected as survey objects. A research method combining questionnaires and interviews was conducted to investigate. The study found that: the local curriculum resources are estranged from the students’ life experience, the difficulty of understanding the teaching language and the rigid management mode are the reasons for the low outcome of education in the agricultural and pastoral areas

    Damage identification for irregular-shaped bridge based on fuzzy C-means clustering improved by particle swarm optimization algorithm

    Irregular-shaped bridge is an important component of urban overpass and is prone to damage due to severe overloading and material deterioration. Structural damage detection is necessary to prevent bridge failure and guarantee the safe operation of urban traffic. For vibration-based damage detection methods, mode shape of full-scale structure is difficult to be measured with the limited number of sensors, while modal frequency can be obtained accurately and conveniently. This paper aims to propose a two-stage scheme for damage identification using the ratios of modal frequency changes and uniform load surface curvature difference (ULSCD) in damage region. FCM algorithm improved by PSO algorithm (FCM-PSO) is employed to locate damage and predict the damage extent. Firstly, the ratios of modal frequency changes from training cases are classified into several clusters based on FCM-PSO analysis. And the cluster centers for damage locations are constructed. Damage location can be identified by calculating the fuzzy memberships between identification indicator vector and cluster centers of damage locations. After obtaining the damage location, ULSCD values in damage region are established to assess damage severity based on the memberships in damage grades.     An Inherent Optical Properties Data Processing System for Achieving Consistent Ocean Color Products From Different Ocean Color Satellites

    We used field measurements and multimission satellite data to evaluate how well an inherent optical properties (IOPs) data processing system performed at correcting the residual error of the atmospheric correction in satellite remote sensing reflectance (R-rs) and how well the system simultaneously minimized intermission biases between different remote sensing systems. We developed the IOPs data processing system as a semianalytical algorithm called IDAS. Our results show that IDAS generates accurate and consistent IOPs products from two ocean color missions: Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-View Sensor (SeaWiFS) and Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer Aqua (MODISA). Specifically, with "high-quality" SeaWiFS and MODISA R-rs data, IDAS provided temporally consistent IOPs products for the oligotrophic open ocean resulting in an annual mean intermission difference of less than 3%, which is significantly lower than what a quasi-analytical algorithm (QAA) provided. We used IDAS to generate a long time series of b(b)(555) from the Northwest Atlantic Subtropical Gyre using SeaWiFS (1998 to 2002) and MODISA (2003 to 2017) images. Our results show that the IDAS-derived annual b(b)(555) decreased monotonically by 2.81% per decade from 1998 to 2017. Comparing the IDAS-generated annual trend for b(b)(555) to the same data processed with the QAA algorithm, we found that the QAA results differed because of impacts of the residual errors of the atmospheric correction and intermission biases. The differences in the annual trends existed despite the same temporal changing patterns of in situ particulate organic carbon existing in the Sargasso Sea and in the satellite chlorophyll-a concentration in the Northwest Atlantic Subtropical Gyre

    Unsupervised Performance Evaluation Strategy for Bridge Superstructure Based on Fuzzy Clustering and Field Data

    Performance evaluation of a bridge is critical for determining the optimal maintenance strategy. An unsupervised bridge superstructure state assessment method is proposed in this paper based on fuzzy clustering and bridge field measured data. Firstly, the evaluation index system of bridge is constructed. Secondly, a certain number of bridge health monitoring data are selected as clustering samples to obtain the fuzzy similarity matrix and fuzzy equivalent matrix. Finally, different thresholds are selected to form dynamic clustering maps and determine the best classification based on statistic analysis. The clustering result is regarded as a sample base, and the bridge state can be evaluated by calculating the fuzzy nearness between the unknown bridge state data and the sample base. Nanping Bridge in Jilin Province is selected as the engineering project to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method

    Identification of the shared gene signature and biological mechanism between type 2 diabetes and colorectal cancer

    Background: The correlation of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) with colorectal cancer (CRC) has garnered considerable attention in the scientific community. Despite this, the molecular mechanisms underlying the interaction between these two diseases are yet to be elucidated. Hence, the present investigation aims to explore the shared gene signatures, immune profiles, and drug sensitivity patterns that exist between CRC and T2DM.Methods: RNA sequences and characteristics of patients with CRC and T2DM were retrieved from The Cancer Genome Atlas and Gene Expression Omnibus databases. These were investigated using weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) to determine the co-expression networks linked to the conditions. Genes shared between CRC and T2DM were analyzed by univariate regression, followed by risk prognosis assessment using the LASSO regression model. Various parameters were assessed through different software such as the ESTIMATE, CIBERSORT, AND SSGSEA utilized for tumor immune infiltration assessment in the high- and low-risk groups. Additionally, pRRophetic was utilized to assess the sensitivity to chemotherapeutic agents in both groups. This was followed by diagnostic modeling using logistic modeling and clinical prediction modeling using the nomogram.Results: WGCNA recognized four and five modules that displayed a high correlation with T2DM and CRC, respectively. In total, 868 genes were shared between CRC and T2DM, with 14 key shared genes being identified in the follow-up analysis. The overall survival (OS) of patients in the low-risk group was better than that of patients in the high-risk group. In contrast, the high-risk group exhibited higher expression levels of immune checkpoints The Cox regression analyses established that the risk-score model possessed independent prognostic value in predicting OS. To facilitate the prediction of OS and cause-specific survival, the nomogram was established utilizing the Cox regression model.Conclusion: The T2DM + CRC risk-score model enabled independent prediction of OS in individuals with CRC. Moreover, these findings revealed novel genes that hold promise as therapeutic targets or biomarkers in clinical settings

    Effects of egg and vitamin A supplementation on hemoglobin, retinol status and physical growth levels of primary and middle school students in

    Lack of protein and vitamin A influences the growth of student in impoverished mountain areas. The aim of the study was to assess the effects of egg and vitamin A supplementation on hemoglobin, serum retinol and anthropometric indices of 10-18 years old students of a low socioeconomic status. A total number of 288 students from four boarding schools were randomly selected by using cluster sampling method in Chongqing, and they were assigned into supplement group and control group non-randomly. Students in supplement group received a single 200,000 international units vitamin A and 1 egg/day (including weekends) for 6 months. The control group did not receive any supplementation. We measured hemoglobin, serum retinol and height and weight at baseline and after supplementation. The supplementation increased the mean hemoglobin concentration by 7.13 g/L compared with 1.38 g/L in control group (p<0.001), the mean serum retinol concentration by 0.31 ÎĽmol/L compared with 0.09 ÎĽmol/L in the control group (p=0.005), the mean height-for-age z score by 0.05 compared with 0.03 in the control group (p=0.319), the mean weight-for-age z score by 0.05 compared with -0.12 in the control group (p<0.001). Our results revealed that egg and vitamin A supplementation is an effective, convenient, and practical method to improve the levels of hemoglobin, serum retinol and prevent the deterioration of growth in terms of weight for primary and middle school students from outlying poverty-stricken areas. Our intervention did not have a beneficial effect on linear growth

    Identification of Novel Variants of Metadherin in Breast Cancer

    Metadherin (MTDH, also known as AEG-1, and Lyric) has been demonstrated to play a potential role in several significant aspects of tumor progression. It has been reported that overexpression of MTDH is associated with progression of disease and poorer prognosis in breast cancer. However, there are no studies to date assessing variants of the MTDH gene and their potential relationship with breast cancer susceptibility. Thus, we investigated all variants of the MTDH gene and explored the association of the variants with breast cancer development. Our cohort consisted of full-length gene sequencing of 108 breast cancer cases and 100 healthy controls; variants were detected in 11 breast cancer cases and 13 controls. Among the variants detected, 9 novel variants were discovered and 2 were found to be associated with the susceptibility of breast cancer. However, additional studies need to be conducted in larger sample sizes to validate these findings and to further investigate whether these variants are prognostic in breast cancer patients
