Chiral effect in plane isotropic micropolar elasticity and its application to chiral lattices
In continuum mechanics, the non-centrosymmetric micropolar theory is usually
used to capture the chirality inherent in materials. However when reduced to a
two dimensional (2D) isotropic problem, the resulting model becomes non-chiral.
Therefore, influence of the chiral effect cannot be properly characterized by
existing theories for 2D chiral solids. To circumvent this difficulty, based on
reinterpretation of isotropic tensors in a 2D case, we propose a continuum
theory to model the chiral effect for 2D isotropic chiral solids. A single
material parameter related to chirality is introduced to characterize the
coupling between the bulk deformation and the internal rotation which is a
fundamental feature of 2D chiral solids. Coherently, the proposed continuum
theory is also derived for a triangular chiral lattice from a homogenization
procedure, from which the effective material constants of the lattice are
analytically determined. The unique behavior in the chiral lattice is
demonstrated through the analyses of a static tension problem and a plane wave
propagation problem. The results, which cannot be predicted by the non-chiral
model, are validated by the exact solution of the discrete model.Comment: 33 pages, 7 figure
Brain Connectomics Improve the Prediction of High-Risk Depression Profiles in the First Year following Breast Cancer Diagnosis
Background. Prediction of high-risk depression trajectories in the first year following breast cancer diagnosis with fMRI-related brain connectomics is unclear. Methods. The Be Resilient to Breast Cancer (BRBC) study is a multicenter trial in which 189/232 participants (81.5%) completed baseline resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) and four sequential assessments of depression (T0-T3). The latent growth mixture model (LGMM) was utilized to differentiate depression profiles (high vs. low risk) and was followed by multivoxel pattern analysis (MVPA) to recognize distinct brain connectivity patterns. The incremental value of brain connectomics in the prediction model was also estimated. Results. Four depression profiles were recognized and classified into high-risk (delayed and chronic, 14.8% and 12.7%) and low-risk (resilient and recovery, 50.3% and 22.2%). Frontal medial cortex and frontal pole were identified as two important brain areas against the high-risk profile outcome. The prediction model achieved 16.82-76.21% in NRI and 12.63-50.74% in IDI when brain connectomics were included. Conclusion. Brain connectomics can optimize the prediction against high-risk depression profiles in the first year since breast cancer diagnoses
A Ordem de Cristo no contexto de uma economia de mercês. Critérios de provimento de cargos e ofícios nos séculos XVII e XVIII: o caso da capitania do Espírito Santo
Neste trabalho, partimos do conceito original de ordem religioso-militar e
dissertamos sobre a história da Ordem de Cristo, a qual identificamos e
descrevemos as origens medievais como ordem religioso-militar e a sua criação ou fundação por necessidade estratégica da monarquia portuguesa para proteger e manter o patrimônio templário no território português. Seguimos para a descrição de um panorama do Brasil colonial inserido no Império ultramarino português, as suas estruturas e práticas político-administrativas com ênfase no sistema de capitanias hereditárias e do governo-geral criados pela monarquia portuguesa. Apresentamos a discussão da dualidade MetrópoleColônia e a busca do controle político e administrativo periférico pelo centro do poder português. Em continuação, abordamos a consolidação de uma economia de mercês, que atuava na seleção de servidores para a burocracia no reino e nas conquistas ultramarinas
portuguesas. Assim, na época moderna desenha-se um novo modelo de cavaleiro das ordens militares que se definia como servidor destacado do rei, limpo de sangue e com cabedal que lhe permitisse não sujar as mãos com trabalho e então o interesse nas ordens militares, em particular pelo hábito da Ordem de Cristo, generaliza-se por toda a sociedade portuguesa. Concluindo o trabalho, caracterizamos a formação da capitania do Espírito Santo e a partir de fontes manuscritas e impressas que abarcam os séculos XVII e XVIII dissertamos sobre as inflexões de uma economia de mercês que se consolidava e sobre a presença da Ordem de Cristo em um contexto regional de provimento de cargos e ofícios na capitania do Espírito Santo

Measurements of the observed cross sections for exclusive light hadron production in e^+e^- annihilation at \sqrt{s}= 3.773 and 3.650 GeV
By analyzing the data sets of 17.3 pb taken at GeV
and 6.5 pb taken at GeV with the BESII detector at the
BEPC collider, we have measured the observed cross sections for 12 exclusive
light hadron final states produced in annihilation at the two energy
points. We have also set the upper limits on the observed cross sections and
the branching fractions for decay to these final states at 90%

Measurements of psi(2S) decays to octet baryon-antibaryon pairs
With a sample of 14 million psi(2S) events collected by the BESII detector at
the Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPC), the decay channels psi(2S)->p
p-bar, Lambda Lambda-bar, Sigma0 Sigma0-bar, Xi Xi-bar are measured, and their
branching ratios are determined to be (3.36+-0.09+-0.24)*10E-4,
(3.39+-0.20+-0.32)*10E-4, (2.35+-0.36+-0.32)*10E-4, (3.03+-0.40+-0.32)*10E-4,
respectively. In the decay psi(2S)->p p-bar, the angular distribution parameter
alpha is determined to be 0.82+-0.17+-0.04.Comment: 8 pages, 8 figure
A study of charged kappa in
Based on events collected by BESII, the decay
is studied. In the invariant mass
spectrum recoiling against the charged , the charged
particle is found as a low mass enhancement. If a Breit-Wigner function of
constant width is used to parameterize the kappa, its pole locates at MeV/. Also in this channel,
the decay is observed for the first time.
