Conclusion of Viking Lander Imaging Investigation: Picture catalog of experiment data record
The images returned by the two Viking landers during the Viking Survey Mission are presented in this report. Listing of supplemental information which describe the conditions under which the images were acquired are included. Subsets of the images are listed in a variety of sequences to aid in locating images of interest. The format and organization of the digital magnetic tape storage of the images are described. A brief description of the mission and the camera system is also included
[OII] Emission, Eigenvector 1 and Orientation in Radio-quiet Quasars
We present supportive evidence that the Boroson and Green eigenvector 1 is
not driven by source orientation. Until recently it was generally accepted that
eigenvector 1 does not depend on orientation as it strongly correlates with
[OIII]5007 emission, thought to be an isotropic property. However, recent
studies of radio-loud AGN have questioned the isotropy of [OIII] emission and
concluded that [OII]3727 emission is isotropic. In this paper we investigate
the relation between eigenvector 1 and [OII] emission in radio-quiet BQS
(Bright Quasar Survey) quasars, and readdress the issue of orientation as the
driver of eigenvector 1. We find significant correlations between eigenvector 1
and orientation independent [OII] emission, which implies that orientation does
not drive eigenvector 1. The luminosities and equivalent widths of [OIII] and
[OII] correlate with one another, and the range in luminosities and equivalent
widths is similar. This suggests that the radio-quiet BQS quasars are largely
free of orientation dependent dust effects and ionization dependent effects in
the narrow-line region. We also conclude that neither the [OIII] emission nor
the [OII]/[OIII] ratio are dependent on orientation in our radio-quiet BQS
quasar sample, contrary to recent results found for radio-loud quasars.Comment: 24 pages, 12 figures, accepted for publication in Ap
Equivariant Poincar\'e series of filtrations and topology
Earlier, for an action of a finite group on a germ of an analytic
variety, an equivariant -Poincar\'e series of a multi-index filtration in
the ring of germs of functions on the variety was defined as an element of the
Grothendieck ring of -sets with an additional structure. We discuss to which
extend the -Poincar\'e series of a filtration defined by a set of curve or
divisorial valuations on the ring of germs of analytic functions in two
variables determines the (equivariant) topology of the curve or of the set of
divisors
Radio Observations of the Hubble Deep Field South Region III: The 2.5, 5.2 and 8.7 GHz Catalogues and Radio Source Properties
Deep radio observations of a wide region centred on the Hubble Deep Field
South have been performed, providing one of the most sensitive set of radio
observations acquired on the Australia Telescope Compact Array to date. A
central rms of ~10 microJy is reached at four frequencies (1.4, 2.5, 5.2 and
8.7 GHz). In this paper the full source catalogues from the 2.5, 5.2 and 8.7
GHz observations are presented to complement Paper II, along with a detailed
analysis of image quality and noise. We produce a consolidated catalogue by
matching sources across all four frequencies of our survey. Radio spectral
indices are used to investigate the nature of the radio sources and identify a
number of sources with flat or inverted radio spectra, which indicates AGN
activity. We also find several other interesting sources, including a broadline
emitting radio galaxy, a giant radio galaxy and three Gigahertz Peaked Spectrum

Fraud detection in telephone conversations for financial services using linguistic features
Detecting the elements of deception in a conversation is one of the most challenging problems for the AI community. It becomes even more difficult to design a transparent system, which is fully explainable and satisfies the need for financial and legal services to be deployed. This paper presents an approach for fraud detection in transcribed telephone conversations using linguistic features. The proposed approach exploits the syntactic and semantic information of the transcription to extract both the linguistic markers and the sentiment of the customer’s response. We demonstrate the results on real-world financial services data using simple, robust and explainable classifiers such as Naive Bayes, Decision Tree, Nearest Neighbours, and Support Vector Machines
Selecting a single orientation for millimeter sized graphene sheets
We have used Low Energy Electron Microscopy (LEEM) and Photo Emission
Electron Microscopy (PEEM) to study and improve the quality of graphene films
grown on Ir(111) using chemical vapor deposition (CVD). CVD at elevated
temperature already yields graphene sheets that are uniform and of monatomic
thickness. Besides domains that are aligned with respect to the substrate,
other rotational variants grow. Cyclic growth exploiting the faster growth and
etch rates of the rotational variants, yields films that are 99 % composed of
aligned domains. Precovering the substrate with a high density of graphene
nuclei prior to CVD yields pure films of aligned domains extending over
millimeters. Such films can be used to prepare cluster-graphene hybrid
materials for catalysis or nanomagnetism and can potentially be combined with
lift-off techniques to yield high-quality, graphene based electronic devices
