Los 'fueguinos', Robert Lehmann-Nitsche y el estudio de los onas en la Exposición Nacional de Buenos Aires (1898)

Entre los primeros trabajos del antropólogo alemán Robert Lehmann-Nitsche como jefe del Departamento de Antropología del Museo de La Plata, Argentina, se cuentan las investigaciones sobre los habitantes de Tierra del Fuego, considerados como un 'relicto' evolutivo de la humanidad. Se repasa la importancia de las ferias y exposiciones como espacios de popularización científica y de 'trabajo de campo' para los estudiosos de fines del siglo XIX y principios del XX. Se examina la presentación de los 'fueguinos' en los espacios de las ferias y exposiciones europeas, los debates, los estudios realizados en Europa y el trabajo de Robert Lehmann-Nitsche en la Exposición Nacional de la Industria Argentina (Buenos Aires, 1898).Among the first projects of German anthropologist Robert Lehmann-Nitsche as head of the Museum de La Plata's Department of Anthropology in Argentina was his research on the inhabitants of Tierra del Fuego, deemed evolutionary 'relics' of humanity. The article explores the role of shows and exhibits as spaces where science was popularized and where late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century scholars could do field work. The focus is on the presentation of 'fueguinos' at European shows and exhibits, debates, and studies, especially the work of Robert Lehmann-Nitsche at the National Exhibit of Argentinean Industry, held in Buenos Aires, 1898

The neuropsychology of the aphasia keeps on making us discover some new functional dissociation liable to alter the language functions (Shallice, 1988). This way, it contributes to our knowledge of the mechanisms, which regulate these functions. In this sense, neuropsychology fits perfectly the main stream of the psychopathologic undertaking. Here - and this is precisely a fact that might surprise us – the way of communication suitable to the psychoanalytical situation can be compared to that one. At least, this is what I will try to demonstrate, having, as a starting point, a kind of absence of words, apparently very different from the aphasia, but that, from a certain point of view, can be faced as the expression of a functional dissociation of the language. This point of view will apply the theoretical frames come from the cognitive analyses of the pragmatics of communication to the observation of the psychoanalytical communication. (Fodor, 1987; Sperber et Wilson, 1989).La neuro-psychologie des aphasies continue de nous faire découvrir de nouvelles dissociations fonctionnelles susceptibles d'altérer les fonctions du langage (Shallice, 1988). Elle ne manque pas de contribuer ainsi à notre connaissance des mécanismes qui régulent ces fonctions. En ce sens, la neuro-psychologie s'inscrit bien dans le droit-fil de Ia démarche psycho-pathologique. Or en ceci - et c'est précisément un fait qui peut surprendre - le mode de communication propre à Ia situation psychanalytique peut lui être comparé. C'est du moins ce que je vais tenter de montrer à partir d'une forme d'absence de parole, bien différente en apparence de l'aphasie, mais qui, d'un certain point de vue, peut être tenue pour l'expression d'une dissociation fonctionnelle du langage. Ce point de vue appliquera à l'observation de Ia communication psychanalytique les cadres théoriques issus d'analyses cognitives de Ia pragmatique de Ia communication (Fodor, 1987; Sperber et Wilson, 1989).A neuropsicologia das afasias continua a nos fazer descobrir novas dissociações funcionais suscetíveis de alterar as funções da linguagem (Shallice, 1988). Assim, ela não deixa de contribuir para o nosso conhecimento dos mecanismos que regulam essas funções. Nesse sentido, a neuropsicologia se inscreve por completo na linha-mestra do empreendimento psicopatológico. Ora, nisso - e este é precisamente um fato que pode surpreender - o modo de comunicação própria da situação psicanalítica lhe pode ser comparado. Pelo menos é o que tentarei mostrar a partir de uma forma de ausência da palavra, bem diferente em aparência da afasia, mas que, de um certo ponto de vista, pode ser tomada como expressão de uma dissociação funcional da linguagem. Esse ponto de vista aplicará à observação da comunicação psicanalítica os enquadres teóricos advindos de análises cognitivas da pragmática da comunicação (Fodor, 1987; Sperber et Wilson,1989)
