The Philippines: External Shocks, Adjustment Policies and Impact on Selected Development Concerns, 1973-1985
With the objective of designing and implementing more effective policies and programs in the light of external shocks, this paper assesses the impact of economic crisis and adjustment policies on basic economic and social concerns particularly on vulnerable income groups. The development path implied in this article is a strategy that is expansionary within the limits set by external finance and other policy considerations.vulnerable groups, adjustment policies

Lorentz-Violating Electrostatics and Magnetostatics
The static limit of Lorentz-violating electrodynamics in vacuum and in media
is investigated. Features of the general solutions include the need for
unconventional boundary conditions and the mixing of electrostatic and
magnetostatic effects. Explicit solutions are provided for some simple cases.
Electromagnetostatics experiments show promise for improving existing
sensitivities to parity-odd coefficients for Lorentz violation in the photon
sector.Comment: 9 page
Regional Component of Education as The Key Factor of Effective Development of The Professional Orientation (Based of The Arctic Zone of The Russian Federation)
The study was carried out with the financial support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Murmansk
region within the framework of the Agreement for the provision of grants in the form of subsidies from the
regional budget to non-profit organizations that are not state institutions to support research projects of young
scientists of the Murmansk region in 2021 dated 02.09.2021 No. 223In the higher education system, there is a tendency of continuous changes, the search for
opportunities or conditions for multi-level, interdisciplinary education, additional knowledge,
professions that will allow specialists to be more competitive, mobile, and able to cope with the
challenges of our time. The article presents the content of "professional orientation of a person". The
authors revealed the concept of "the factor of effective formation of the professional orientation of a
person", determined the criteria and indicators of the formation of the professional orientation of
students in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. The developed model of the professional
orientation of students in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, formed during the survey of
students of secondary professional and higher institutions of the Arctic zone of the Russian
Federation, is presented through the example of the Murmansk region. The model was tested during
special professional events with graduate students. The results of the survey and testing are
presented in the article in the form of graphs.Ministry of Education and Science of the Murmansk

No detectable radio emission from the magnetar-like pulsar in Kes 75
The rotation-powered pulsar PSR J1846-0258 in the supernova remnant Kes 75
was recently shown to have exhibited magnetar-like X-ray bursts in mid-2006.
Radio emission has not yet been observed from this source, but other
magnetar-like sources have exhibited transient radio emission following X-ray
bursts. We report on a deep 1.9 GHz radio observation of PSR J1846-0258 with
the 100-m Green Bank Telescope in late 2007 designed to search for radio
pulsations or bursts from this target. We have also analyzed three shorter
serendipitous 1.4 GHz radio observations of the source taken with the 64-m
Parkes telescope during the 2006 bursting period. We detected no radio emission
from PSR J1846-0258 in either the Green Bank or Parkes datasets. We place an
upper limit of 4.9 \mu Jy on coherent pulsed emission from PSR J1846-0258 based
on the 2007 November 2 observation, and an upper limit of 27 \mu Jy around the
time of the X-ray bursts. Serendipitously, we observed radio pulses from the
nearby RRAT J1846-02, and place a 3\sigma confidence level upper limit on its
period derivative of 1.7 * 10^{-13}, implying its surface dipole magnetic field
is less than 2.6 * 10^{13} G.Comment: 15 pages, 2 figures, submitted to Ap
We propose a grammar inference algorithm for regular languages which saves computational cost by using two different criteria to choose states to be processed: one in the first phase of the inference process (the beginning) and another for the rest of the process. We applied experiments to observe performance of the algorithm, to learn about the best size of its first phase and to show results of its application to solve a specific problem in Bioinformatics: the cleavage site prediction problem in polyproteins encoded by viruses of the Potyviridae family
Morphology, Mineralogy, and Chemistry of Atmospheric Aerosols Nearby an Active Mining Area: Aljustrel Mine (SW Portugal)
Mining activities increase contaminant levels in the environment, so it is crucial to study the
particulate matter in these areas to understand the impacts on nearby urban areas and populations.
This work was conducted close to the active mine of Aljustrel (Portugal), where black dust deposition
is evident. PM10 samples were collected in two periods: 10–17 July and 1–10 November of 2018.
Two different techniques were used: SEM-EDX for the individual characterization of the aerosols
and ICP-MS to quantify the elemental concentration of 11 elements (Ca, Na, Fe, Mn, As, Cd, Cu, Sb,
Pb, and Zn). In this region, the observed PM10 mass concentration was 20 to 47 g m 3 (July) and
4 to 23 g m3 (November), which is lower than the limit of 50 g m3 established in the European
Directive. The individual characterization of 2006 particles by SEM-EDX shows oxides (17%) and
sulfides (10%), while Na, Si, Fe, S, Al, and Cu are the elements with the most representativeness in
all the analyzed particles. The ICP-MS results indicate that the daily elemental concentration in the
samples collected in July is higher than November, and only As exceeds the limit established for

Groundwater quality comparison between rural farms and riparian wells in the western Amazon, Brazil
Groundwater quality of a riparian forest is compared to wells in surrounding rural areas at Urupá River basin. Groundwater types were calcium bicarbonated at left margin and sodium chloride at right, whereas riparian wells exhibited a combination of both (sodium bicarbonate). Groundwater was mostly solute-depleted with concentrations within permissible limits for human consumption, except for nitrate. Isotopic composition suggests that inorganic carbon in Urupá River is mostly supplied by runoff instead of riparian groundwater. Hence, large pasture areas in addition to narrow riparian forest width in this watershed may have an important contribution in the chemical composition of this river.FAPESPCNPq - CT-HIDROCNPq - Milêni
