Modeling quasi-static magnetohydrodynamic turbulence with variable energy flux

In quasi-static MHD, experiments and numerical simulations reveal that the energy spectrum is steeper than Kolmogorov's k5/3k^{-5/3} spectrum. To explain this observation, we construct turbulence models based on variable energy flux, which is caused by the Joule dissipation. In the first model, which is applicable to small interaction parameters, the energy spectrum is a power law, but with a spectral exponent steeper than -5/3. In the other limit of large interaction parameters, the second model predicts an exponential energy spectrum and flux. The model predictions are in good agreement with the numerical results.Comment: 16 pages, 5 figure

In the mining industry, it is observed that sudden break-down of any equipment may stop the entire system, resulting in drastic production losses and enhancing the cost production. In this paper, the probability of sudden break down of each equipment are individually analyzed from their previous performances where the frequency of occurrences, duration and the time-interval of each breakdown has given an additional stress and the non-availability of that equipment on the entire system is discussed. Computerized best fit matching is found out for preventive maintenance of this equipment by developing different sub-routines and simulation models. Optimum utilization of those equipment shows a particular steady- state production from the mine. Advanced technology is used for the operation of the open-pit mining. Hazard due to open cast mining is less than that of underground mines and the recent trend is to adopt the former one. For the mechanization, different types of machineries are used, such as shovel, dumper, dozer, drill machines, etc. use of more machineries increases the complexity of the operation and as a result it is very difficult to the proper matching of these equipment’s. As these machineries are very costly so unless they are properly matched, reduction in production cost is not possible. Sudden breakdown of one equipment may stop the production from whole mine. So it is needed to analyze the breakdown data by statistical approach to find out the possibility of breakdown of that particular equipment and ask for preventive maintenance. This analysis needed the help of computer for simulating the whole mining system to judge the performance of each equipment. This paper deals with the computerized best fit matching, for preventive maintenance of equipment

Algorithmic ramifications of prefetching in memory hierarchy

External Memory models, most notable being the I-O Model [3], capture the effects of memory hierarchy and aid in algorithm design. More than a decade of architectural advancements have led to new features not captured in the I-O model - most notably the prefetching capability. We propose a relatively simple Prefetch model that incorporates data prefetching in the traditional I-O models and show how to design algorithms that can attain close to peak memory bandwidth. Unlike (the inverse of) memory latency, the memory bandwidth is much closer to the processing speed, thereby, intelligent use of prefetching can considerably mitigate the I-O bottleneck. For some fundamental problems, our algorithms attain running times approaching that of the idealized Random Access Machines under reasonable assumptions. Our work also explains the significantly superior performance of the I-O efficient algorithms in systems that support prefetching compared to ones that do not

Facilitation of peptide fibre formation by arginine-phosphate/carboxylate interactions

This study describes peptide fibre formation in a hexapeptide, derived from the V3 loop of HIV-1, mediated by the interactions between arginine residues and phosphate/carboxylate anions. This charge neutralization approach was further confirmed when the deletion of arginine residue from the hexapeptide sequence resulted in fibre formation, which was studied by a combination of microscopic techniques

Formulation of Ramipril Tablets Containing Solid Dispersion Employing Selective Polymers to Enhance Dissolution Rate

Get PDF
Objective: The present work based on formulation of Ramipril tablets containing solid dispersion employing selective polymers. The objective of the preparation is to prepare the solid dispersion of the Ramipril, which has more responsive value in terms of the dissolution rate. Method: Solid dispersion complex was prepared with two different carriers PEG 6000 and PVP K30. Nine formulations were developed and each formulation were subjected to pre compression and post compression parameters. Result and Discussion: Pre-compression and post compression parameters were studied which had shown good flow property and compiled the standard data. In-vitro dissolution studies shows more than 90 % drug release in phosphate buffer pH 6.8 in 30 min. Out of all formulation F4 showed 92.55±0.67 % drug release with in 30min which was the best result rest of the formulation. Conclusion: Ramipril tablets were successfully prepared and evaluated. F4 formulation shows the greater dissolution rate in phosphate buffer pH 6.8 as compared to other formulations. When compared with marketed formulation it also shows better results. Therefore, Ramipril solid dispersion tablets enhanced the dissolution rate and can be more efficacious for improving oral bioavailability of Ramipril. Political Leaders’ Communication: A Twitter Sentiment Analysis during Covid-19 Pandemic

The pandemic made it critical for political leaders to intensify measures in fight against Covid-19 and one such measure was building trust among public through communication. With exponential growth in reach of social media, while state political leaders have progressively used internet for election campaigns, limited studies have explored as to how leaders use this medium to communicate during crisis, what kind of information do they share and what are common issues addressed. This paper, using qualitative research design, analyses Indian political leaders’ communication on Twitter. Sentiment Analysis was carried to identify and extract subjective information in leaders’ communication using 29 Indian political leaders, where in 12.128 tweets were extracted. Subjectivity scores depicted more than half of leaders had shared fact-based information, and Polarity scores indicated that almost 90% of leaders shared positive or neutral information thus leading to an inference that leaders share more of facts based and positive or neutral information rather than statements in form of opinions
