On Increasing of Resolution of Satellite Images via Their Fusion with Imagery at Higher Resolution

    Get PDF
In this paper we propose a new statement of the spatial increasing resolution problem of MODIS-like multi-spectral images via their fusion with Lansat-like imagery at higher resolution. We give a precise definition of the solution to the indicated problem, postulate assumptions that we impose at the initial data, establish existence and uniqueness result, and derive the corresponding necessary optimality conditions. For illustration, we supply the proposed approach by results of numerical simulations with real-life satellite images. In this paper we propose a new statement of the spatial increasing resolution problem of MODIS-like multi-spectral images via their fusion with Lansat-like imagery at higher resolution. We present new and streamlined proofs of various formulae for products and ratios of characteristic polynomials of random Hermitian matrices that have appeared recently in the literature.Comment: 18 pages, LaTe

Electronic structure, optical and magnetic properties of Co2_{2}FeGe Heusler alloy films

Optical properties of ferromagnetic half-metallic full-Heusler Co2_{2}FeGe alloy are investigated experimentally and theoretically. Co2_{2}FeGe thin films were obtained by DC magnetron sputtering and show the saturation magnetization at TT=10 K of mm\approx5.6 μB\mu_{B}/f.u., close to the value predicted by the Slater-Pauling rule. First-principles calculations of the electronic structure and the dielectric tensor are performed using the full-potential linearized-augmented-plane-wave method in the generalized gradient (GGA) and GGA+U approximations. The measured interband optical conductivity spectrum for the alloy exhibits a strong absorption band in the 1 - 4 eV energy range with pronounced fine structure, which agrees well with the calculated half-metallic spectrum of the system, suggesting a near perfect spin-polarization in the material.Comment: 6 pages, 9 figure

Fast electrochemical membrane actuator:Design, fabrication and preliminary testing

    Get PDF
An actuator based on water electrolysis with a fast change of voltage polarity is presented. It demonstrates a new actuation principle allowing significant increase the operation frequency of the device due to fast termination of the produced gas. The actuator consists of a working chamber with metallic electrodes and supplying channels filled with an electrolyte. The chamber is formed in a layer of SU-8 and covered by a flexible polydimethylsiloxane membrane, which deforms as the pressure in the chamber increases. Design, fabrication procedure, and first tests of the actuator are described

Heavy quark potential in lattice QCD at finite temperature

    Get PDF
Results of the study of lattice QCD with two flavors of nonperturbatively improved Wilson fermions at finite temperature are presented. The transition temperature for m_{\pi}/m_{\rho} \sim 0.8 and lattice spacing a \sim 0.12 fm is determined. A two-exponent ansatz is successfully applied to describe the heavy quark potential in the confinement phase.Comment: 3 pages, 1 figure, talk given at the 5th International Conference on Quark Confinement and the Hadron Spectrum, Gargnano, Italy, 10-14 Sep 200
