Pedagogy, Protests, and Moving Toward Progress

Our world is in constant flux and educators are at the ship’s helm steering toward what former U.S. Representative John Lewis called “good trouble.” However, in many cases, educators lack the training required to be most effective in doing so. As instructors face student demands to address topics on race and social justice, many educators are unsure about how to respond appropriately to the chants of “No Justice, No Peace!” Thus, this essay explores humanistic and pragmatic approaches for doing so in terms of fostering cultural communication competence when incorporating topics on race and social justice issues in the classroom

L'effondrement du Biafra est un échec politique qui s'est traduit par un échec militaire. Les nombreux groupes ethniques du Nigeria ne peuvent cohabiter à l'avenir, à l' intérieur d'une Fédération, qu'en renonçant à la lutte pour le pouvoir central. L'auteur souhaite que s'établissent les fondements d'une entreprise communautaire : un système où le chef de l'exécutif représenterait l'ensemble de la nation, un Sénat, les intérêts des Etats, une Assemblée nationale, la politique des partis. L'Afrique n'a pas acquis son visage définitif : une plus grande connaissance du continent peut amener ses habitants à souhaiter une unification qui pourrait avoir pour point de départ le Nigeria, à condition que celui-ci ne tente pas d'absorber ses voisins.Uwechue Raph. Biological Mesh Repair of a Large Incisional Hernia Containing a Kidney Transplant in the Presence of Inflammation

The incidence of incisional hernia after kidney transplantation varies between 1.1% and 3.8%. These are usually repaired electively using polypropylene mesh. We present here a case where a patient presented as an emergency, with a large painful incisional hernia over his kidney transplant, and evidence of local erythema and systemic inflammation. As this could have represented either infection or rejection, the patient was started on antibiotics and subsequently underwent graft nephrectomy and hernia repair using a biological (porcine-derived) acellular dermal matrix, Strattice™, with a satisfactory outcome. In addition, histology showed evidence of allograft rejection. This is the first reported case of an incisional hernia containing a rejecting kidney allograft, managed with nephrectomy and biological mesh repair
