    Auto-ID enabled tracking and tracing data sharing over dynamic B2B and B2G relationships

    RFID 2011 collocated with the 2011 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Millimeter Wave Integration Technologies (IMWS 2011)Growing complexity and uncertainty are still the key challenges enterprises are facing in managing and re-engineering their existing supply chains. To tackle these challenges, they are continuing innovating management practices and piloting emerging technologies for achieving supply chain visibility, agility, adaptability and security. Nowadays, subcontracting has already become a common practice in modern logistics industry through partnership establishment between the involved stakeholders for delivering consignments from a consignor to a consignee. Companies involved in international supply chain are piloting various supply chain security and integrity initiatives promoted by customs to establish trusted business-to-customs partnership for facilitating global trade and cutting out avoidable supply chain costs and delays due to governmental regulations compliance and unnecessary customs inspection. While existing Auto-ID enabled tracking and tracing solutions are promising for implementing these practices, they provide few efficient privacy protection mechanisms for stakeholders involved in the international supply chain to communicate logistics data over dynamic business-to-business and business-government relationships.     A Light-weight Privacy Protection Mechanism for Auto-ID Enabled Logistics Track and Trace Data Sharing Over Business Subcontracting Relationships

    Subcontracting is a common practice in modernlogistics industry for delivering goods from a consigner to aconsignee. Visibility and security are critical concerns of the involved prime logistics enterprise and its subcontractors insharing logistics track and trace data, which appear fundamentally contracting to each other. Both role-based dataaccessing and sharing mechanism used in traditional databas e management applications and security control solutions based on EPC global infrastructure are not able to efficiently handle these issues together. In this work, a light-weight privacy protection mechanism is introduced for these enterprises with subcontracting relationships to share logistics track and trace data captured with Auto-ID systems equipped with RFID readers, sensors, or global positioning devices. The mechanism consists of a set of protocols designed for the involved stakeholders to register and cancel subcontracting relationship,to set up and clear outsourced logistics job, to upload, update and clear the job data, to track the job execution progress and trace the job execution history. A method for implementing the mechanism is also proposed in this paper, including major use cases, data flow diagrams, and a high-level architecture of a subtracting relationship based track and trace management prototype system

    Increased Phosphorylation of a 26-kD Pollen Protein Is Induced by the Self-Incompatibility Response in Papaver rhoeas.

    We have investigated whether specific protein phosphorylation events are induced in Papaver rhoeas pollen as a consequence of the self-incompatibility (SI) response. Pollen grown in vitro in the presence of 32P-orthophosphate was challenged with biologically active recombinant S proteins, and pollen proteins were extracted and analyzed. The results provide strong evidence that the increased phosphorylation of a 26-kD protein of pl 6.2, p26, is specifically induced by the SI response. This phosphorylation event occurs in living pollen tubes and was observed specifically when pollen was challenged with S proteins that are incompatible with the S alleles carried by the pollen and not when pollen was challenged with compatible or incompatible heat-denatured S proteins. Further characterization demonstrated that p26 comprises two phosphoproteins, p26.1 and p26.2, that are found in soluble and microsomal fractions, respectively. Increased phosphorylation of p26.1 is implicated in the SI response and appears to be Ca2+ and calmodulin dependent. These data argue for the involvement of a Ca2+-dependent protein kinase requiring calmodulin-like domains, whose activation comprises an intracellular signal mediating the SI response in P. rhoeas pollen

    In this paper, we present a service oriented intelligent middleware service framework that enables integrated e-logistics infrastructure and networks. Service oriented architecture (SOA) represents a new concept of computing that allows diverse and distributed resources to communicate with each other based upon a set of standards.
