Improved real-time imaging spectrometer
An improved AOTF-based imaging spectrometer that offers several advantages over prior art AOTF imaging spectrometers is presented. The ability to electronically set the bandpass wavelength provides observational flexibility. Various improvements in optical architecture provide simplified magnification variability, improved image resolution and light throughput efficiency and reduced sensitivity to ambient light. Two embodiments of the invention are: (1) operation in the visible/near-infrared domain of wavelength range 0.48 to 0.76 microns; and (2) infrared configuration which operates in the wavelength range of 1.2 to 2.5 microns

Efek Asam Metoksiasetat Terhadap Kondrogenesis Jari Anggota Tubuh Depan Mencit (Mus Musculus) Swiss Webster
Gradient Clogging in Depth Filtration
We investigate clogging in depth filtration, in which a dirty fluid is
``cleaned'' by the trapping of dirt particles within the pore space during flow
through a porous medium. This leads to a gradient percolation process which
exhibits a power law distribution for the density of trapped particles at
downstream distance x from the input. To achieve a non-pathological clogging
(percolation) threshold, the system length L should scale no faster than a
power of ln w, where w is the width. Non-trivial behavior for the permeability
arises only in this extreme anisotropic geometry.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, RevTe
Transport and Boundary Scattering in Confined Geometries: Analytical Results
We utilize a geometric argument to determine the effects of boundary
scattering on the carrier mean-free path in samples of various cross sections.
Analytic expressions for samples with rectangular and circular cross sections
are obtained. We also outline a method for incorporating these results into
calculations of the thermal conductivity.Comment: 35 pages, Late
Dielectric multilayer waveguides for TE and TM mode matching
We analyse theoretically for the first time to our knowledge the perfect
phase matching of guided TE and TM modes with a multilayer waveguide composed
of linear isotropic dielectric materials. Alongside strict investigation into
dispersion relations for multilayer systems, we give an explicit qualitative
explanation for the phenomenon of mode matching on the basis of the standard
one-dimensional homogenization technique, and discuss the minimum number of
layers and the refractive index profile for the proposed device scheme. Direct
applications of the scheme include polarization-insensitive, intermodal
dispersion-free planar propagation, efficient fibre-to-planar waveguide
coupling and, potentially, mode filtering. As a self-sufficient result, we
present compact analytical expressions for the mode dispersion in a finite,
N-period, three-layer dielectric superlattice.Comment: 13 pages with figure
Discrete Model of Ideological Struggle Accounting for Migration
A discrete in time model of ideological competition is formulated taking into
account population migration. The model is based on interactions between global
populations of non-believers and followers of different ideologies. The complex
dynamics of the attracting manifolds is investigated.
Conversion from one ideology to another by means of (i) mass media influence
and (ii) interpersonal relations is considered. Moreover a different birth rate
is assumed for different ideologies, the rate being assumed to be positive for
the reference population, made of initially non-believers. Ideological
competition can happen in one or several regions in space. In the latter case,
migration of non-believers and adepts is allowed; this leads to an enrichment
of the ideological dynamics. Finally, the current ideological situation in the
Arab countries and China is commented upon from the point of view of the
presently developed mathematical model. The massive forced conversion by
Ottoman Turks in the Balkans is briefly discussed.Comment: 24 pages, with 5 figures and 52 refs.; prepared for a Special issue

Suppression of Kondo effect in a quantum dot by external irradiation
We demonstrate that the external irradiation brings decoherence in the spin
states of the quantum dot. This effect cuts off the Kondo anomaly in
conductance even at zero temperature. We evaluate the dependence of the DC
conductance in the Kondo regime on the power of irradiation, this dependence
being determined by the decoherence.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figur
