Witness

Witness, co-written by award-winning Tanzanian-Australian filmmaker Martin Mhando and WA actor and writer David Moody, explores the law of probability as it plays out in bitter human conflicts, retelling stories of torture and atrocities from Chile to Cambodia in a constantly morphing, fractured form. As the play progresses, the men perform a collage of vignettes in which the roles of white, black, male, female, jailer, prisoner, aggressor and victim are endlessly exchanged. At one point Moody dons a curly black wig to play a comical Colonel Gaddafi; elsewhere both men perform a disturbing Auschwitz cabaret scene as “Hymie and Abe,” complete with Marx Brothers nose-and-glasse

Crossing body shadow

Crossing Body Shadow may be best described as an ecology of identity, mortality, and acting. Like Silent Moves it gathered around investigations of internal and external corporeal modalities and explored their reverberations on and within disciplines of “performance”. In this work, P[R] moved towards drawing attention/focus/energy onto smaller more clearly defined energetics -which in turn presented work of much greater detail and depth

Living is a horizontal fall

The title Living Is A Horizontal Fall was drawn from Jean Cocteau’s novel OPIUM: The Diary Of A Cure; a text P[R] used as source material for the performance, in parallel with the physical and theoretical investigations outlined below. OPIUM loosely describes Cocteau's journey from addiction to cure, touching along the way on the nature of creativity and the human need for certainty in an uncertain existence. The fragmented structure of the novel, and its deviation from conventional narrative, meant that it was ideally suited to become one of the multiple strands drawn out by P[R], in this performance process

Affective space: Theory and practice

3 Disc account on the subject of Affective Space: includes a PhD dissertation by Serge Tampalini, Lecturer and Theatre Designer/Director for two decades. Through the consideration of more than thirty theatre productions it investigates design outside of its decorative role and locates it both as a text that may be read in conjuntion with the written text and also as an affective tool in the production and reception of meaning. In addition the thesis attempts to establish a coherent theory that has informed the production of these works.
