Advanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Glioblastoma: A Review
INTRODUCTION
In 2017, it is estimated that 26,070 patients will be diagnosed with a malignant primary brain tumor in the United States, with more than half having the diagnosis of glioblas- toma (GBM).1 Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a widely utilized examination in the diagnosis and post-treatment management of patients with glioblastoma; standard modalities available from any clinical MRI scanner, including T1, T2, T2-FLAIR, and T1-contrast-enhanced (T1CE) sequences, provide critical clinical information. In the last decade, advanced imaging modalities are increasingly utilized to further charac- terize glioblastomas. These include multi-parametric MRI sequences, such as dynamic contrast enhancement (DCE), dynamic susceptibility contrast (DSC), diffusion tensor imaging (DTI), functional imaging, and spectroscopy (MRS), to further characterize glioblastomas, and significant efforts are ongoing to implement these advanced imaging modalities into improved clinical workflows and personalized therapy approaches. A contemporary review of standard and advanced MR imaging in clinical neuro-oncologic practice is presented

System Of Server-Side Resource Updates And Customization On Mobile Apps
A system and method of providing server-side resource updates for a mobile application (“app”) are disclosed. The system includes an app server that would allow installation and customization of the app. When the user installs the app in a mobile phone, the server may provide the app with only the essential resources without rolling out the entire app. The user may then place a customization request to the server. The server would then supply the essential resources required for customization. The app may use locally stored resources or those fetched from the server to effect the customization. The method may also be generalized as a platform that could separate app distribution and appearance changes. It could typically be used to apply language customization, instead of installing all the languages by default. The system may dynamically change appearance, fix bugs or serve as a framework for experimentation in app development
Sentiment Analysis on Financial News and Microblogs
Sentiment analysis is useful for multiple tasks including customer satisfaction metrics, identifying market trends for any industry or products, analyzing reviews from social media comments. This thesis highlights the importance of sentiment analysis, provides a summary of seminal works and different approaches towards sentiment analysis. It aims to address sentiment analysis on financial news and microblogs by classifying textual data from financial news and microblogs as positive or negative. Sentiment analysis is performed by making use of paragraph vectors and logistic regression in this thesis and it aims to compare it with previously performed approaches to performing analysis and help researchers in this field. This approach achieves state of the art results for the dataset used in this research. It also presents an insightful analysis of the results of this approach
Bandwidth Pooling
Mobile data plans include a limit on data usage per billing cycle. Mobile service providers also restrict bandwidth per connection. Once data usage reaches the limit, the service provider takes actions such as disabling further data access, restricting speed of the connection, levying a higher billing rate, etc. Users of mobile data connections therefore face problems of respectively of affordability or convenience. This disclosure describes techniques that allow a user to share bandwidth and/or data with other users that participate in a bandwidth pool. For example, the other users can include other users that are interested in accessing the same online content. Members of a pool fetch individual content sections and locally share the content with other members. In this manner, both downloadable data and bandwidth, e.g., speed of connection, is effectively increased for each user of the pool without hitting limits and the resultant charges
Optimization of immobilization of α-amylase in alginate gel and its comparative biochemical studies with free α-amylase
The α-amylase was immobilized by entrapment in calcium alginate beads. The effect of concentration of sodium alginate, calcium chloride and curing time on immobilization yield of α-amylase in calcium alginate beads were investigated and immobilized α-amylase was characterized. Three percent (w/v) sodium alginate, 1M calcium chloride and 2 h curing time were used and 90% immobilization yield of α-amylase was achieved with enhanced thermal and acidic condition stabilities. Significant changes in optimum pH and temperature values of the enzyme were recorded after immobilization. The activity of immobilized enzyme was affected by the size of the bead and bead size of 2.4mm was found to be most effective for starch hydrolysis. From the enzyme kinetic study, decrease in substrate affinity and velocity of enzyme reaction were observed after immobilization of enzyme. Immobilized α-amylase retained 35% activity after 10 reuses with 30 min of each reaction time.Â
Fungal population on seeds of Arachis hypogea L.
The seed of four groundnut varieties viz. Gujrat, Western, Ghungroo and Local were collected from different market places of Beed, (M.S.) and seed mycoflora was isolated by standard blotter paper method and agar plate method. In all the four varieties seeds exhibited maximum number of fungi with higher percentage of incidence. Aspergillus flavus. A. niger, Fusarium oxysporum, Macrophomina phaseolina Penicillium sp. were found predominant. Higher numbers of fungi were isolated on agar plate method used as compared to standard blotter paper method. Surface sterilization with HgCl2 reduces the incidence of Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus niger. ---P.G. Department of Botany, Mrs.K.S.K. Metabolism within the tumor microenvironment and its implication on cancer progression: an ongoing therapeutic target
Since reprogramming energy metabolism is considered a new hallmark of cancer, tumor metabolism is again in the spotlight of cancer research. Many studies have been carried out and many possible therapies have been developed in the last years. However, tumor cells are not alone. A series of extracellular components and stromal cells, such as endothelial cells, cancer-associated fibroblasts, tumor-associated macrophages and tumor-infiltrating T cells, surround tumor cells in the so-called tumor microenvironment. Metabolic features of these cells are being studied in deep in order to find relationships between metabolism within the tumor microenvironment and tumor progression. Moreover, it cannot be forgotten that tumor growth is able to modulate host metabolism and homeostasis, so that tumor microenvironment is not the whole story. Importantly, the metabolic switch in cancer is just a consequence of the flexibility and adaptability of metabolism and should not be surprising. Treatments of cancer patients with combined therapies including anti-tumor agents with those targeting stromal cell metabolism, anti-angiogenic drugs and/or immunotherapy are being developed as promising therapeutics.Mª Carmen Ocaña is recipient of a predoctoral FPU grant from the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport. A review on value-added goodies from different major and minor fruits from the perspective of India
Nutrition and health are gaining significant focus as people seek convenient, nutrient-rich food options. Food processing must be efficient, cost-effective, and durable to meet these demands. Transforming fruits into diverse products using affordable technology can boost the economy for farmers and the nation. Fruit-based goods with high potassium and low salt offer substantial dietary benefits, making them valuable to health-conscious consumers. The present study aimed to study different value-added products from fruits and to increase their shelf life. Perishable fruit has losses during postharvest changes. Different strategies are required to avoid such losses. One method is to transform fruits into value-added goods. The transition of a raw resource or commodity into a processed product by combining raw materials, labour, time, and technology to produce a higher financial return is known as value addition in fruit processing. It focuses on ending hunger, achieving food security, improving nutrition, and promoting sustainable agriculture. Value-added fruit products can contribute to food security by achieving sustainable goals of good health and well-being. The study concluded that value-added fruit products play a vital role in the food industry, benefiting both producers and consumers. They reduce food waste, provide economic opportunities for farmers, and offer consumers convenient, nutritious, and flavourful options. The value-added fruit product market will likely further, contributing to the agricultural sector’s sustainability and worldwide consumer well being. This review details the value-added products in fruits.
