Supersymmetry preserving and breaking degenerate vacua, and radiative moduli stabilization

    Get PDF
We propose a new type of moduli stabilization scenario where the supersymmetric and supersymmetry-breaking minima are degenerate at the leading level. The inclusion of the loop-corrections originating from the matter fields resolves this degeneracy of vacua. Light axions are predicted in one of our models.Comment: 18 pages, 14 figure

Modular symmetry and non-Abelian discrete flavor symmetries in string compactification

    Get PDF
We study the modular symmetry in magnetized D-brane models on T2T^2. Non-Abelian flavor symmetry D4D_4 in the model with magnetic flux M=2M=2 (in a certain unit) is a subgroup of the modular symmetry. We also study the modular symmetry in heterotic orbifold models. The T2/Z4T^2/Z_4 orbifold model has the same modular symmetry as the magnetized brane model with M=2M=2, and its flavor symmetry D4D_4 is a subgroup of the modular symmetry.Comment: 28 page

Gauge coupling unification in SO(32) heterotic string theory with magnetic fluxes

We study SO(32)SO(32) heterotic string theory on torus with magnetic fluxes. Non-vanishing fluxes can lead to non-universal gauge kinetic functions for SU(3)×SU(2)×U(1)YSU(3) \times SU(2) \times U(1)_Y which is the important features of SO(32)SO(32) heterotic string theory in contrast to the E8×E8E_8\times E_8 theory. It is found that the experimental values of gauge couplings are realized with O(1){\cal O}(1) values of moduli fields based on the realistic models with the SU(3)×SU(2)×U(1)YSU(3) \times SU(2) \times U(1)_Y gauge symmetry and three chiral generations of quarks and leptons without chiral exotics.Comment: 20 pages, 9 figure

    F-term Moduli Stabilization and Uplifting

We study K\"ahler moduli stabilization in IIB superstring theory. We propose a new moduli stabilization mechanism by the supersymmetry-braking chiral superfield which is coupled to K\"ahler moduli in K\"ahler potential. We also study uplifting of the Large Volume Scenario (LVS) by it. In both cases, the form of superpotential is crucial for moduli stabilization. We confirm that our uplifting mechanism does not destabilize the vacuum of the LVS drastically.Comment: 22 pages, 2 figure
