Holographic Pomeron: Saturation and DIS
We briefly review the approach to dipole-dipole scattering in holographic QCD
developed in ARXIV:1202.0831. The Pomeron is modeled by exchanging closed
strings between the dipoles and yields Regge behavior for the elastic
amplitude. We calculate curvature corrections to this amplitude in both a
conformal and confining background, identifying the holographic direction with
the virtuality of the dipoles. The it wee-dipole density is related to the
string tachyon diffusion in both virtuality and the transverse directions. We
give an explicit derivation of the dipole saturation momentum both in the
conformal and confining metric. Our holographic result for the dipole-dipole
cross section and the it wee-dipole density in the conformal limit are shown to
be identical in form to the BFKL pomeron result when the non-critical string
transverse dimension is . The total dipole-dipole cross section is
compared to DIS data from HERA

Extracting the Distribution Amplitudes of the rho meson from the Color Glass Condensate
We extract the leading twist-2 and subleading twist-3 Distribution Amplitudes
(DAs) of the rho meson using the HERA data on diffractive rho photoproduction.
We do so using several Colour Glass Condensate (CGC) inspired and a Regge
inspired dipole models. We find that our extracted twist-2 DA is not much model
dependent and is consistent with QCD Sum Rules and lattice predictions. The
extracted twist-3 DA is more model dependent but is still consistent with the
Sum Rules prediction.Comment: 21 pages, 10 figures, 3 tables. Section 6 revised, figures 8 and 9

Energy dependence of the saturation scale and the charged multiplicity in pp and AA collisions
A natural framework to understand the energy dependence of bulk observables
from lower energy experiments to the LHC is provided by the Color Glass
Condensate, which leads to a "geometrical scaling" in terms of an energy
dependent saturation scale Q_s. The measured charged multiplicity, however,
seems to grow faster (~\sqrt{s}^0.3) in nucleus-nucleus collisions than it does
for protons (~\sqrt{s}^0.2), violating the expectation from geometric scaling.
We argue that this difference between pp and AA collisions can be understood
from the effect of DGLAP evolution on the value of the saturation scale, and is
consistent with gluon saturation observations at HERA.Comment: RevTeX, 8 pages, 4 figures. V2: modified discussion of fragmentation,

Studies of di-jet survival and surface emission bias in Au+Au collisions via angular correlations with respect to back-to-back leading hadrons
We report first results from an analysis based on a new multi-hadron
correlation technique, exploring jet-medium interactions and di-jet surface
emission bias at RHIC. Pairs of back-to-back high transverse momentum hadrons
are used for triggers to study associated hadron distributions. In contrast
with two- and three-particle correlations with a single trigger with similar
kinematic selections, the associated hadron distribution of both trigger sides
reveals no modification in either relative pseudo-rapidity or relative
azimuthal angle from d+Au to central Au+Au collisions. We determine associated
hadron yields and spectra as well as production rates for such correlated
back-to-back triggers to gain additional insights on medium properties.Comment: By the STAR Collaboration. 6 pages, 2 figure
Isolation of Flow and Nonflow Correlations by Two- and Four-Particle Cumulant Measurements of Azimuthal Harmonics in 200 GeV Au+Au Collisions
A data-driven method was applied to measurements of Au+Au collisions at
200 GeV made with the STAR detector at RHIC to isolate
pseudorapidity distance -dependent and -independent
correlations by using two- and four-particle azimuthal cumulant measurements.
We identified a component of the correlation that is -independent,
which is likely dominated by anisotropic flow and flow fluctuations. It was
also found to be independent of within the measured range of
pseudorapidity . The relative flow fluctuation was found to be for particles of transverse momentum
less than GeV/. The -dependent part may be attributed to
nonflow correlations, and is found to be relative to the
flow of the measured second harmonic cumulant at
Measurements of Dihadron Correlations Relative to the Event Plane in Au+Au Collisions at GeV
Dihadron azimuthal correlations containing a high transverse momentum (\pt)
trigger particle are sensitive to the properties of the nuclear medium created
at RHIC through the strong interactions occurring between the traversing parton
and the medium, i.e. jet-quenching. Previous measurements revealed a strong
modification to dihadron azimuthal correlations in Au+Au collisions with
respect to \pp\ and \dAu\ collisions. The modification increases with the
collision centrality, suggesting a path-length dependence to the jet-quenching
effect. This paper reports STAR measurements of dihadron azimuthal correlations
in mid-central (20-60\%) Au+Au collisions at \snn=200~GeV as a function of
the trigger particle's azimuthal angle relative to the event plane,
\phis=|\phit-\psiEP|. The azimuthal correlation is studied as a function of
both the trigger and associated particle \pt. The subtractions of the
combinatorial background and anisotropic flow, assuming Zero Yield At Minimum
(\zyam), are described. The away-side correlation is strongly modified, and the
modification varies with \phis, which is expected to be related to the
path-length that the away-side parton traverses. The pseudo-rapidity (\deta)
dependence of the near-side correlation, sensitive to long range \deta
correlations (the ridge), is also investigated. The ridge and jet-like
components of the near-side correlation are studied as a function of \phis.
The ridge appears to drop with increasing \phis while the jet-like component
remains approximately constant. ...Comment: 50 pages, 39 figures, 6 table
System size and energy dependence of near-side di-hadron correlations
Two-particle azimuthal () and pseudorapidity ()
correlations using a trigger particle with large transverse momentum () in
+Au, Cu+Cu and Au+Au collisions at =\xspace 62.4 GeV and
200~GeV from the STAR experiment at RHIC are presented. The \ns correlation is
separated into a jet-like component, narrow in both and
, and the ridge, narrow in but broad in .
Both components are studied as a function of collision centrality, and the
jet-like correlation is studied as a function of the trigger and associated
. The behavior of the jet-like component is remarkably consistent for
different collision systems, suggesting it is produced by fragmentation. The
width of the jet-like correlation is found to increase with the system size.
The ridge, previously observed in Au+Au collisions at = 200
GeV, is also found in Cu+Cu collisions and in collisions at
=\xspace 62.4 GeV, but is found to be substantially smaller at
=\xspace 62.4 GeV than at = 200 GeV for the
same average number of participants ().
Measurements of the ridge are compared to models.Comment: 17 pages, 14 figures, submitted to Phys. Rev.
