    Get PDF
Banking sector in India has been experiencing the phase of ruthless competition since the new economic reforms initiated in the economy. Owing to aggressive strategies adopted by the private sector banks, the concern for the activation of the dictum’ perform or perish’ in the industry, which might induce the Public Sector Banks (PSBs) in India to land into a highly perishable zone, has obligated them to come forward with a well equipped mode for providing a burly fight to their private counter parts. As a move in this regard, they are now in a rapid hiring spree. Although this strategy has primarily been designed for their own endurance, successful execution of the same would certainly benefit the economy as a whole in the form of higher income propagation, superior mobilization of funds and greater rate of employment generation. This paper is intended to analyze the urge and efficacy of the rapid hiring mode of the public sector banks, specifically IDBI Bank, in India

Formation and Open Access of Institutional Electronic Research Corners for Promotion of Communication Facilities and Quality Research

Indian higher education institutions (HEIs) are struggling hard to get a berth among top-rated HEIs in the world. One of the important parameters that restrict our HEIs from the list of top-notch global HEIs is ‘contribution to research’. It does not mean that Indian HEIs don’t have quality researchers to produce world class research output. Had that been the case, Indian researchers doing research abroad would not have done miracles with their unique research output in varied domains. The hindrance for researchers in India could be owing to improper communication facility that fails to exchange ideas and outcomes of research among peers. Thus, the urge for formation of sound institutional electronic repositories, i.e., electronic research corners (e-research corners) has crop up. Mere formation of e-research corners won’t suffice to address the issue. Besides formation, e-research corners need to be open accessed. University Grants Commission (UGC) of India has established an Inter-University Center called Information and Library Network Center (Inflibnet), which is the best example of open access institutional repositories. While some HEIs of India do have their research corners that are accessed by only the internal stakeholders, some other HEIs don’t have any such repositories as such. On the backdrop of the necessity of formation and open access of institutional electronic repositories, this paper focuses on unfolding how open access to sound e-research corners promote quality education. Besides, it will also design a framework that will assist the HEIs to build sound e-research centers. For the purpose, in-depth interviews will be conducted with 50 researchers working in reputed HEIs in Bhubaneswar to ascertain how open access e-research centers facilitate quality research. Focus Group Discussion will also be conducted among experts in the field like research heads of selected HEIs, Chief Librarians of established Libraries and reputed educationists of the State for designing the framework to form e-research centers. The findings of this research will help in communicating ideas and findings of researchers to all the corners that matter for quality research

Students’ Feedback on Teachers’ Classroom Delivery vis-a-vis Quality of Teaching and Internal Evaluation System

In normative sense, feedback of students improves teachers’ skills. In fact, qualified teachers won’t take in students’ comments as critical, but as useful propositions on how to better dole out their requirements. Using students as an avenue for professional development is a swift and unproblematic way to craft adjustments in teaching on daily basis. However, the pre-requisites for the realization of this sense of students’ feedback, i.e., professionalism in both the parties with high level of honesty in giving and taking, have been turned to be the points of concern leading to distortions in quality of teaching and evaluation system. Alternatively, negative interpretation of students’ feedback has been proved to be fatal in many cases diluting the very objective of the concept, i.e., quality teaching and due recognition to merit. On the backdrop of the negative interpretation of students’ feedback, this paper tries to uncover the brutal consequences that have been experienced or likely to be experienced in our periphery damaging the sanctity of higher education system, particularly in Programmes of Management Education in India.

Objective Bibliometric analysis is one of the profound instruments to measure the research output quantitatively based on geometrical and statistical evaluation. The objective of the current study is to provide structural overview of the voluminous research work done so far via bibliometric analysis to access the significance of this tool in academic research. Methods A bibliometric analysis is performed by extracting 842 documents from Scopus database in CSV form from 2000 till April 5, 2021. The retrieved data analyzed via Vos viewer reveals about the significantly contributing authors, countries, author keywords, cited references, total link strength, and co-occurrence of author keywords using bibliographic coupling and co-citation analysis. Results In year 2009, publication of bibliometric articles reached its apex with a publication count of 34 articles. China has published maximum number of bibliometric documents (37.76%) and has produced 114 collaborative documents with 38 countries with a citation count of 2018. Recent bibliometric articles included keywords such as Vos viewer, Covid 19, Co-authorship, and Co-occurrence analysis. Conclusion Data presented in the study can be useful for comparing the use of bibliometric analysis in diverse subject areas and also focusses on the subject areas that are not yet explored through bibliometric analysis

Economic Activities for Repatriated Migrant Workers of India: A Framework for Rural Development

    No full text
This paper's basic objective is to design a framework for the efficient accommodation of repatriated migrant workers in Odisha's rural sector (India). For this purpose, secondary data derived through content analysis have been analyzed and interpreted. Besides recognizing migrant workers' wishes and ascertaining their inbuilt skill sets, the framework will focus on skill mapping with the existing and would-be economic activities in the rural sector. Since the inflow of returnee migrant workers to the rural sector has been a crucial point of concern for respective state governments owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, all state governments are alert to addressing the issues of returnee migrants. The State of Odisha is not an exception to this concern. It has been putting all its efforts into accommodating all repatriated migrant workers in the rural sector's economic activities, but with no significant achievement. A framework embedded within the skills matrix will help accommodate returnee migrants to promote rural development against this backdrop. This study's findings will help policymakers shift focus from transfer payments to the creation of capital overheads
