On an easy transition from operator dynamics to generating functionals by Clifford algebras
Clifford geometric algebras of multivectors are treated in detail. These
algebras are build over a graded space and exhibit a grading or multivector
structure. The careful study of the endomorphisms of this space makes it clear,
that opposite Clifford algebras have to be used also. Based on this
mathematics, we give a fully Clifford algebraic account on generating
functionals, which is thereby geometric. The field operators are shown to be
Clifford and opposite Clifford maps. This picture relying on geometry does not
need positivity in principle. Furthermore, we propose a transition from
operator dynamics to corresponding generating functionals, which is based on
the algebraic techniques. As a calculational benefit, this transition is
considerable short compared to standard ones. The transition is not injective
(unique) and depends additionally on the choice of an ordering. We obtain a
direct and constructive connection between orderings and the explicit form of
the functional Hamiltonian. These orderings depend on the propagator of the
theory and thus on the ground state. This is invisible in path integral
formulations. The method is demonstrated within two examples, a non-linear
spinor field theory and spinor QED. Antisymmetrized and normal-ordered
functional equations are derived in both cases.Comment: 23p., 76kB, plain LaTeX, [email protected]

Argumentation-based design rationale - the sharpest tools in the box
In this paper the three main argumentation-based design rationale methodologies - IBIS, QOC and DRL – will be discussed with illustrations of particular points drawn from a working example. The areas of scope, expressiveness in terms of design space and argumentation representation and the resulting usability by human and computer will be examined. Particular attention is paid to how the development of the artifact is being controlled by the evaluation of intentions and objectives that allow consistent goals throughout the design to be formulated, evaluated and modified. Furthermore, decision making within an argumentative context is highlighted
Considerate Approaches to Achieving Sufficiency for ABC model selection
For nearly any challenging scientific problem evaluation of the likelihood is
problematic if not impossible. Approximate Bayesian computation (ABC) allows us
to employ the whole Bayesian formalism to problems where we can use simulations
from a model, but cannot evaluate the likelihood directly. When summary
statistics of real and simulated data are compared --- rather than the data
directly --- information is lost, unless the summary statistics are sufficient.
Here we employ an information-theoretical framework that can be used to
construct (approximately) sufficient statistics by combining different
statistics until the loss of information is minimized. Such sufficient sets of
statistics are constructed for both parameter estimation and model selection
problems. We apply our approach to a range of illustrative and real-world model
selection problems
Cutaneous eccrine glands of the foot pads of the rock hyrax (Procavia capensis, Hyracoidea, mammalia)
In order to find correlations between skin gland morphology and specific ethological features, the cutaneous glands of the foot pads of Procavia capensis were studied by histological and various histochemical methods and by electron microscopy. In the foot pads, abundant specific eccrine skin glands occur, which consist of coiled tubular secretory portions and coiled ducts. The wall of the secretory part is composed of cuboidal glandular cells and myoepithelial cells. Among the glandular cells two types occur: clear and dark cells. Clear cells have numerous mitochondria and form a basal labyrinth, indicating fluid transport. Dark cells, which stain strongly with periodic acid-Schiff, contain a highly developed perinuclear Golgi apparatus, large amounts of rough endoplasmic reticulum and many secretory granules indicating production of glycoproteins. Cytokeratin (CK) 19 was found in secretory compartments and ducts, CK14 only in duct cells. Single cells of the secretory coils and ducts may be stained with antibodies against antimicrobial peptides. Some glandular cells contain proliferating cell nuclear antigen-positive nuclei especially in the ducts indicating an increased cell proliferation. Terminal transferase (TdT)-mediated d-UTP nick-end labeling-positive nuclei can be detected predominantly in the secretory coils and rarely in the transitional portions between ducts and end pieces. We suppose that proliferating cells migrate from the ducts to the secretory coils. The secretory product of the eccrine cutaneous glands seems to improve the traction between the foot pads of these animals and the steep and smooth rock formations among which they live
Mixed Symmetry Solutions of Generalized Three-Particle Bargmann-Wigner Equations in the Strong-Coupling Limit
Starting from a nonlinear isospinor-spinor field equation, generalized
three-particle Bargmann-Wigner equations are derived. In the strong-coupling
limit, a special class of spin 1/2 bound-states are calculated. These solutions
which are antisymmetric with respect to all indices, have mixed symmetries in
isospin-superspin space and in spin orbit space. As a consequence of this mixed
symmetry, we get three solution manifolds. In appendix \ref{b}, table 2, these
solution manifolds are interpreted as the three generations of leptons and
quarks. This interpretation will be justified in a forthcoming paper.Comment: 17 page
Markets Susceptible to ex ante Regulation : Methodology and Commission Recommendation
The EU regulatory framework for electronic communications services distinguishes between markets that are susceptible to ex ante regulation and those that are subject to competition law alone. The paper lays out the methodology for identifying relevant markets that may be considered for ex ante regulation. It also provides a summary of the relevant markets that should be susceptible to ex ante regulation based on an analysis of conditions likely to prevail in a ‘representative" member state. The paper finally addresses the role of the European Commission, and in particular its Relevant Markets Recommendation, as a means of providing guidance to NRAs.EU regulatory framework; susceptibility to ex ante regulation; 3-criteria test; Relevant Markets Recommendation; market definition and modified Greenfield approach
