Improvement of Power Quality in Distribution System using DVR

    Get PDF
Today PQ(Power quality) is major issue in production/power industries and distribution network. As there are numerous PQ problems but the sag and swell are the important one. We have various CPD’s (custom power devices) used for linear and non-linear loads that can eliminate/mitigate the voltage sag and swell and finally restore’s the system to the pre-fault condition. This paper presents improvement of voltage using DVR for balanced /unbalanced voltage sags/ swells and therefore MATLAB/SIMULINK based simulation Results proved the efficiency of DVR to mitigate/eliminate voltage sags /swells

Abstract: Purpose: The purpose of the study is to explore the use and practice of open educational resources in social science discipline at University of Delhi, Delhi. Design/Methodology/Approach: The relevant data for the study was obtained through a well-structured questionnaire followed by personal interview wherever it was required. The well-structured precise questionnaire was distributed to the 150 social scientists (research scholars and faculty) that include 75 male & 75 female, selected through purposive random sampling. In addition to this, the bibliographical data were recorded in MS-Excel sheet 2007 for analysis and interpretation purpose with diagrams. Findings: The response rate was 83.33% in total that include 88% male and 78.67% female respondents. The respondents were found very enthusiastic in responding the questionnaire. Further, the study also finds that majority of the students in social science discipline are aware about the concept open educational resources (OER). In addition to this, it can also be seen from the results of the study that majority of the students are in favour of the OER for publishing and use purpose. Research Limitations/Implications: The study is confined to the social scientists (research scholars and faculty) of University of Delhi, Delhi and research results are limited to this only. Originality/Value: The study stressed upon the concept of open educational resources with regard to its use and practice by the students at University of Delhi, Delhi. The area of the study is still untouched here in India that makes the study unique in itself and open the path to make the concept of OER to get the momentum here in India also as in developed countries the OER movement has already reached at advanced level. Securing Cloud from Tampering and Duplication

Cloud computing is the most emerging technology today which is used by most of the social media sites to store the data. The data stored on the cloud is private data of the user so it must not be tampered by other entities. The previous system has worked on reducing the storage space by copying and archiving data but on the cost of reduced performance rate. We propose a system to enhance the storage space by performing deduplication on data and shuffling the data, between the number of directories within cloud after particular interval of time to avoid the tracking of data to enhance the security. The backup of the data will be taken timely into the back up directory. The proposed system will provide ease to use the cloud

Synthesis, Characterization and Thermal Studies of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) Complexes of Some Schiff Bases Derived from 4-Amino-3-mercapto-6-methyl-5-oxo-1,2,4 triazine

Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) Complexes of bidentate Schiff bases derived from the condensation of 4-amino-3-mercapto-6- methyl-5-oxo-1,2,4-triazine with 4-fluoro benzaldehyde and 2-acetyl furan were synthesized and characterized by various physico-chemical techniques. A square planar geometry was suggested for Cu(II) and octahedral geometry proposed for Co(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II). TG curves indicated that the complexes decompose in three to four steps. The presence of coordinated water in metal complexes was confirmed by thermal and IR data of the complexes. Keywords: Synthesis, Schiff bases, 1,2,4-triazine, Thermal Stud

A Study to Assess the Effectiveness of Structured Teaching Programme on Knowledge Regarding Management of Low Birth Weight (LBW) Babies among Postnatal Mothers in Selected Community at Gwalior

Background: Low birth weight is one of the important causes for the high infant mortality rate in developing countries. In India during the year 1991, the IMR was 80 per 1000 live births & neonatal mortality rate (NMR) was 51 per 1000 live births.LBW babies have been reported to lag behind their heavier counterpart in development for the rest of their lives. Objective: The present study attempted to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding management of low birth weight (LBW) babies among postnatal mothers. Methods: In the present study, evaluative research approach was selected; one group pre-test and post-test design was adopted. The structured interview schedule on management of low birth weight (LBW) babies among postnatal Mothers was used to collect the data. The main study was conducted at Kedarpur and Barai rural community Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, with the sample size of 40 postnatal mothers selected by using convenient sampling technique and the collected data were analyzed and interpreted based on descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: The overall mean score of the subjects in pre-test was 56.25% with standard deviation 2.80. In post-test, the mean percentage of the Overall means score of the subjects in post-test was 76.25% with standard deviation 2.28. The obtained ‘t’ value was greater than the table value and found to be highly significant at the level of p<0.005. The findings evidenced structured teaching programme was effective in increasing the knowledge of the postnatal mothers regarding management of low birth weight (LBW) babies. Conclusion: The study concluded that there was a significant improvement in the knowledge after structured teaching programme. Thus structured teaching programme is effective in improving the knowledge of the mothers

A Novel Approach for Eye Tracking using Driver Fatigue Monitoring

System describes a real-time online trial product driver-fatigue monitor or driver tiredness is captured. It means to capture the current state or mode of tiredness of driver whether the driver is in sleeping state or in wakening state. It uses remotely located charge-coupled-device cameras able to with active infrared illumination to acquire video images of the driver. Various cues that typically stated the level of attentiveness of a person that how an person is attentive are removed or take out in real time and systematic combined to infer the tiredness level of the driver. The some cues employed stated eyelid movement, steady movement, head movement, and facial expression. This is developed to model human fatigue and to know about fatigue based on the visual cues obtained. The simultaneous use of multiple optical cues and their methodical combination yields a much more robust and accurate fatigue categorization than using a single visual cue. This system was valid as real-life fatigue conditions with human subjects of different cultural backgrounds, genders, and ages as with or without glasses, and under different illumination conditions. It was found to be sensibly robust, reliable, and accurate in fatigue categorization

Diversity of freshwater and terrestrial gastropod molluscs from Mangalore region has studied. 12 specimens were identified up to species level except Glessula from two sites, Kadri and Jeppu Kudupady located in Mangalore. Among these 13 specimens, 3 were freshwater gastropods and 10 were terrestrial gastropods. There is always a threat to molluscs because of the rapid urbanization in Mangalore. Therefore, conservation of these species should be done to avoid the fragmentation of their habitat and not to become extinct species
