In his own lifetime and beyond, Craig’s immediately recognisable wood-engravings, woodcuts and etchings were widely exhibited both domestically and internationally. The speaker will argue that these images also had an important place in the wider creative revolution of content and medium explored by twentieth-century artists

The Economic and Financial Effect of Single Parent Homes

A crisis is facing the American population today because of the growing prevalence of single parent homes. This single parenthood produces a cyclical nature in which the families that get started have a hard time removing themselves from the patterns and problems of this cycle. This is due in large part to the financial issues that a family will face due to the divorce from, or loss of, a spouse. These financial issues affect not only the parent that is raising children alone, but it affects the children, the spouse that has left, and the economy at large. This phenomenon, while not recent, has become increasingly prevalent in the American society and the throughout the world. While there are solutions to this problem, they revolve around a heart issue that is being affected by every facet of human existence. The only real solution to this issue, which will not only free people from the pain of divorce, but free them to financial freedom, is Jesus Christ

Simulations of autoignition and laminar premixed flames in methane/air mixtures diluted with hot products

This paper considers constant-pressure autoignition and freely propagating premixed flames of cold methane-air mixtures mixed with equilibrium hot products at high enough dilution levels that the combustion enters the MILD combustion regime. The analysis is meant to provide further insight on MILD regime boundaries and to identify the effect of hot products speciation. As the mass fraction of hot products in the reactants mixture increases, autoignition occurs earlier. Species profiles show that the products-reactants mixture approximately equilibrates to a new state over a quick transient well before the main autoignition event, but as dilution becomes very high, this equilibration transient becomes more prominent and eventually merges with the primary ignition event. The dilution level at which these two reactive zones merge corresponds well with that marking the transition into the MILD regime, as defined according to conventional criteria. Similarly, premixed flame simulations at high dilutions show evidence of significant reactions involving intermediate species prior to the flame front. Since the premixed flame governing equations system demands that the species and temperature gradients be zero at the “cold” boundary, flame speed cannot be calculated above a certain dilution level. Up to this point, which again agrees reasonably well with the transition into the MILD regime according to convention, the laminar burning velocity was found to increase with hot product dilution while flame thickness remained largely unchanged. Some comments on the MILD combustion regime boundary definition for gas turbine applications are included.This work has been partly funded by Rolls-Royce plc.This is the accepted manuscript. Cryogenic mechanisms for scanning and interchange of the Fabry-Perot interferometers in the ISO long wavelength spectrometer

The Infrared Space Observatory (ISO) is an ESA cornerstone mission for infrared astronomy. Schedules for launch in 1993, its four scientific instruments will provide unprecedented sensitivity and spectral resolution at wavelengths which are inaccessible using ground-based techniques. One of these, the Long Wavelength Spectrometer (LWS), will operate in the 45 to 180 micron region (Emery et. al., 1985) and features two Fabry-Perot interferometers mounted on an interchange mechanism. The entire payload module of the spacecraft, comprising the 60 cm telescope and the four focal plane instruments, is maintained at 2 to 4 K by an onboard supply of liquid helium. Phase Equilibria in the ZnO−Sb2O5 System

Методом твердофазної реакції одержано сплави системи ZnO−Sb2O5. 3 а результатами рентгенофазового та хімічного аналізів проведено їх ідентифікацію. Доведено існування двох тернарних сполук ZnSb2O6 та Zn7Sb2O12. Вивчено деякі фізико-хімічні властивості та побудовано структурні моделі для цих сполук. The series of samples of the ZnO–Sb2O5 quasibinary system have been synthesized by solid-state reactions and characterized by using X-ray powder diffraction techniques (XRD) and chemical analysis. Two intermediate ternary phases, the compounds ZnSb2O6 and Zn7Sb2O12, have been found in the system ZnO–Sb2O5; and the structural models have been built for these compounds

Making Choices in Design

This paper explores the nature of choice in design. Attention is given to visual perception, to a role for aesthetics in research, and to the context and evolution of design. There are concluding comments on some implications for Design Education. Choice in design may embraceoften at the same time - objective facts (such as dimensions), partly-objective facts (such as convenience) and wholly subjective attitudes and opinions; so it is important to try to understand how people form preferences in design, and to understand the contexts within which design choices are made
