    Problematic smartphone use and sleep disturbance: the roles of metacognitions, desire thinking, and emotion regulation

    Background: The association between problematic Smartphone use (PSU) and sleep disturbance is evidenced in the literature, but more research is required to investigate the potential factors that may influence the effect of PSU on sleep disturbance. Given the considerable prevalence of PSU (9.3 to 36.7%) and sleep disturbance (55.2%) in Iran, the current study sought to examine an interactional model to test whether metacognitions about Smartphone use, desire thinking (verbal perseveration and imaginal prefiguration), and emotion regulation (expressive suppression and cognitive reappraisal) could have a moderating effect on the above-mentioned association. Method: This present study is a cross-sectional, observational study that was conducted between June and September 2022 in a convenience sample of Iranians (n = 603, Female = 419, Age = 24.61 ± 8). Results: Despite the significant association between metacognitions about the Smartphone use, PSU, and sleep disturbance, metacognitions failed to predict sleep disturbance above PSU. A slope analysis showed, however, that a high (not low or moderate) levels of imaginal prefiguration strengthen the association between PSU and sleep disturbance, while a high (not low or moderate) level of cognitive reappraisal and expressive suppression dampen the PSU-sleep disturbance association. We also found that verbal perseveration and expressive suppression were unique predictors of sleep disturbance, while imaginal prefiguration and reappraisal only predicted sleep disturbance if they interacted with PSU. Conclusion: Theoretically, findings suggest that enhancing cognitive reappraisal (by 1 SD) and reducing imaginal prefiguration (by 1 SD), might protect against sleep disturbance by reducing its association with PSU. Limitations and future directions are discussed

    Intra-Abdominal Pressure Monitoring By Nurses For Early Detection Of Abdominal Compartment Syndrome And Early Decompressed Laparotomy In Comparison With Need To Laparotomy By Physical Exam.

    Abstract:Background& Objective:Abdominal compartment syndrome is as potentially lethal condition caused by any event that produces intra-abdominal hypertension. The most common cause is blunt abdominal trauma. Increasing intra-abdominal pressure affects much vital body system. Hemodynamic, respiratory, renal and neurological abnormalities are hallmark of ACS. All authors are agreeing that decompression laparotomy is the treatment of choice for the ACS. Nursing care involves vigilant monitoring for early detection including serial measurement of intra-abdominal pressure (from urinary bladder). This study was designed to investigate the comparative effect of measurement of intra-abdominal pressure and physical exam in patient with ACS for refer the patients to operation room. Methodology:In this research ACS was defined as abdominal distention with intra-abdominal pressure ≥15 mm Hg (20cm H2O) accompanied by at least two of the following: oliguria or anuria, hypoxemia and hypotension or shock. When ACS detected by researcher, compared with diagnose of need to laparotomy by physician both timely and numerically.Results:Of 100 patients admitted over 8 months, 28 patients had abdominal compartment syndrome, 21 of this patients refer to operation room by physician. According to numeral comparison between two group not significant (P>.05) but according the time measuring abdominal pressure for detection of need to decompressed laparotomy significantly decreased than physical exam (p<.05).Conclusion:The ACS is a potentially lethal condition occurs in a significant number of severely blunt abdominal trauma patients and it develops quickly. Preventative therapy should be instituted to minimize its development in patients at risk and monitoring of intraabdominal pressure may allow prompt treatment of this condition rather than physical exam

    Three-component Synthesis of Electron-poor Alkenes using Isatin Derivatives, Acetylenic Esters, Triphenylphosphine and Theoretical Study

    Synthesis of electron-poor alkenes has been reported by 1,2-proton shift and elimination of triphenyl phosphine from phosphorus ylide in good to high yields. The structures of six novel products were deduced fromtheir IR, 1HNMR, and 13CNMRspectra. The B3LYP/HF calculations for computation of 1H and 13C NMR chemical shifts have been carried out for the compounds with the 6-31G* basis set utilizing the GIAOapproach. In addition, theoretical configurations of the title compound were studied in terms of the combined analysis of the HOMO–LUMO energy gap, NBO analysis, thermodynamic parameters and molecular electrostatic potential (MEP). Also ionization potential (I), electron affinity (A), chemical hardness (ç), electronic chemical potential (μ) and electrophilicity (ù) of the title molecule are reported.     Large Eddy Simulation-Based Analysis of Entropy Generation in a Turbulent Nonpremixed Flame

    LES (large eddy simulation) is employed for prediction and analysis of entropy generation in turbulent combustion. The entropy transport equation is considered in LES. This equation contains several unclosed entropy generation terms corresponding to irreversible processes: heat conduction, mass diffusion, chemical reaction and viscous dissipation. The SGS (subgrid scale) closure of these effects is provided by a methodology termed the En-FDF (entropy filtered density function), which contains complete statistical information about SGS variation of scalars and entropy. In the En-FDF, the effects of chemical reaction and its associated entropy generation appear in closed forms. The methodology is applied for LES of a nonpremixed jet flame. Predictions show good agreements with the experimental data. Analysis of entropy generation shows that heat conduction and chemical reaction are the main sources of irreversibility in this flame. The sensitivity of individual entropy generation effects to turbulence intensity is studied

    Skills Required for Nursing Career Advancement: A Qualitative Study

    Background: Nurses require certain skills for progression in their field. Identifying these skills can provide the context for nursing career advancement. Objectives: This study aimed to identify the skills needed for nurses’ career advancement. Materials and Methods: A qualitative approach using content analysis was adopted to study a purposive sample of eighteen nurses working in teaching hospitals affiliated with the Qazvin, Shahid Beheshti, and Iran Universities of Medical Sciences. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews, and analyzed using conventional content analysis. Results: The three themes extracted from the data included interpersonal capabilities, competency for career success, and personal capacities. The results showed that acquiring a variety of skills is essential for career advancement. Conclusions: The findings showed that personal, interpersonal, and functional skills can facilitate nurses’ career advancement. The effects of these skills on career advancement depend on a variety of conditions that require further studies

    The Association between Religious Belief and Drug Adherence Mediated by Religious Coping in Patients with Mental Disorders

    Introduction: Adherence to drug regimen is an important factor in the treatment of patients with mental disorders. In some studies, religious beliefs have been shown to be effective for treatment adherence. This study aimed to investigate the association between religious beliefs and adherence to the medication regimen mediated by religious coping in patients with mental disorders. Methods: In this cross‑sectional study, 164 patients with mental disorders were selected through convenient sampling from educational centers in Qazvin city. Data were collected using a demographic questionnaire, March Drug Adherence Questionnaire, Santaklara’s Religious Faithfulness questionnaire, and Pargament Religious Coping questionnaire. Data were expressed as mean ± standard deviation and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: The mean age of the patients was 38.87 ± 14.42 years. The mean duration of the disease was 5.71 ± 5.78 years. The mean of the religious belief score was 30.90 ± 5.96, the mean of the negative religious coping score was 2.17 ± 2.94, and the mean of positive religious coping score was 6.83 ± 4.69. There was a significant positive correlation between religious beliefs, adherence to medication regimen, and positive religious coping. There was a significant negative correlation between religious beliefs, adherence to medication regimen, and negative religious coping. Conclusion: There was a significant positive correlation between religious beliefs and adherence to medication regimen in patients with mental disorders. Religious beliefs were directly associated with positive religious coping, and adherence to medication regimen was indirectly associated with negative religious confrontation

    Progress in the Prediction of Entropy Generation in Turbulent Reacting Flows Using Large Eddy Simulation

    An overview is presented of the recent developments in the application of large eddy simulation (LES) for prediction and analysis of local entropy generation in turbulent reacting flows. A challenging issue in such LES is subgrid-scale (SGS) modeling of filtered entropy generation terms. An effective closure strategy, recently developed, is based on the filtered density function (FDF) methodology with inclusion of entropy variations. This methodology, titled entropy FDF (En-FDF), is the main focus of this article. The En-FDF has been introduced as the joint velocity-scalar-turbulent frequency-entropy FDF and the marginal scalar-entropy FDF. Both formulations contain the chemical reaction and its entropy generation effects in closed forms. The former constitutes the most comprehensive form of the En-FDF and provides closure for all of the unclosed terms in LES transport equations. The latter is the marginal En-FDF and accounts for entropy generation effects, as well as scalar-entropy statistics. The En-FDF methodologies are described, and some of their recent predictions of entropy statistics and entropy generation in turbulent shear flows are presented

    COMPARISON OF SECOND-DEGREE BURNS HEALING TIME IN TWO METHODS OF DRESSING WITH FUNDERMOL HERBAL OINTMENT AND% 1 SILVER SULFADIAZINE OINTMENT‏

    BACKGROUND: Burn wounds are one of the health problems in modern societies that are associated with irreparable harms and many side problems for patients and their families. Infection due to burn wounds is the main cause of death in such patients. One of the methods to prevent infection of burn wounds is topical antibiotic ointments. This study aimed to investigate and identify effective ointments to treat burn wounds. For this purpose, the effects of two types of ointment, fundermol and 1% silver sulfadiazine cream on second degree burn wounds were compared. METHODS: This was a clinical trial study conducted in 2008. Using convenient and continuous sampling method, 50 patients referred to Imam Mousa Kazem Burn Injury Clinic in Isfahan, Iran with 2nd degree burn wounds in 1% to 10% surface area were enrolled. The patients were randomly divided into two groups of treatment with fundermol and sulfadiazine and the dressing was changed once a day. The healing time for burn wounds in each patient was recorded in a checklist and data were analyzed by independent t-test via SPSS software. RESULTS: The healing time of burn wounds in the group treated with fundermol was shorter than that in the group treated with sulfadiazine (p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: The present study showed that fundermol ointment accelerates burn wound healing. Therefore, fundermol can be introduced as a good replacement for current treatments of burn wounds
