New exact solution of the one dimensional Dirac Equation for the Woods-Saxon potential within the effective mass case
We study the one-dimensional Dirac equation in the framework of a position
dependent mass under the action of a Woods-Saxon external potential. We find
that constraining appropriately the mass function it is possible to obtain a
solution of the problem in terms of the hypergeometric function. The mass
function for which this turns out to be possible is continuous. In particular
we study the scattering problem and derive exact expressions for the reflection
and transmission coefficients which are compared to those of the constant mass
case. For the very same mass function the bound state problem is also solved,
providing a transcendental equation for the energy eigenvalues which is solved
numerically.Comment: Version to match the one which has been accepted for publication by

On Hadamard Type Inequalities Involving Several Kind of Convexity
In this paper, we not only give the extensions of the results given in [7] by
Gill et al. for log-convex functions, but also obtain some new Hadamard type
inequalities for log-convex, m-convex and (alpha,m)-convex functions.Comment: This paper is published in Journal of Inequalities and Application
Any l-state solutions of the Woods-Saxon potential in arbitrary dimensions within the new improved quantization rule
The approximated energy eigenvalues and the corresponding eigenfunctions of
the spherical Woods-Saxon effective potential in dimensions are obtained
within the new improved quantization rule for all -states. The Pekeris
approximation is used to deal with the centrifugal term in the effective
Woods-Saxon potential. The inter-dimensional degeneracies for various orbital
quantum number and dimensional space are studied. The solutions for the
Hulth\'{e}n potential, the three-dimensional (D=3), the -wave () and
the cases are briefly discussed.Comment: 15 page
Some Grüss' Type Inequalities in 2-Inner Product Spaces and Applications for Determinantal Integral Inequalities
Some new Grüss type inequalities in 2-inner product spaces are given. Using this framework, some determinantal integral inequalities for synchronous functions are also derived
A perturbative treatment for the energy levels of neutral atoms
Energy levels of neutral atoms have been re-examined by applying an
alternative perturbative scheme in solving the Schrodinger equation for the
Yukawa potential model with a modified screening parameter. The predicted shell
binding energies are found to be quite accurate over the entire range of the
atomic number up to 84 and compare very well with those obtained within the
framework of hyper-virial-Pade scheme and the method of shifted large-N
expansion. It is observed that the new perturbative method may also be applied
to the other areas of atomic physics.Comment: 18 page
Horizontal and vertical distributions of copepods were investigated based on zooplankton samples collected during March 2012 at 10 stations in Aegean Sea. A total of 83 copepod species were identified. Copepods dominated the zooplankton assemblages at almost all stations. More than 70% of copepods were found in the upper 100 m layer. Using cluster analysis, five groups of samples differing on distribution of adult and copepodite stages of copepods and hydrological characteristics were determined
Exactly solvable effective mass D-dimensional Schrodinger equation for pseudoharmonic and modified Kratzer problems
We employ the point canonical transformation (PCT) to solve the D-dimensional
Schr\"{o}dinger equation with position-dependent effective mass (PDEM) function
for two molecular pseudoharmonic and modified Kratzer (Mie-type) potentials. In
mapping the transformed exactly solvable D-dimensional ()
Schr\"{o}dinger equation with constant mass into the effective mass equation by
employing a proper transformation, the exact bound state solutions including
the energy eigenvalues and corresponding wave functions are derived. The
well-known pseudoharmonic and modified Kratzer exact eigenstates of various
dimensionality is manifested.Comment: 13 page
Renal disaster relief in Europe: the experience at L'Aquila, Italy, in April 2009
On 6 April 2009, an earthquake struck the city of L'Aquila and the surrounding Abruzzo mountains. The disaster left 66 000 people homeless, while 1500 were wounded and 298 died. Although Europe as a whole is not so often affected by massive earthquakes, Italy is an exception with 12 earthquakes with an intensity >6.0 on the Richter scale during the last 100 years. This article offers preliminary information on the L'Aquila earthquake. For the time being, nine AKI patients who needed dialysis treatment are known. In all of them, kidney function recovered. This positive result can be attributed to the efficient and intensive rescue efforts coupled to the availability of disaster plans that had been developed in advance. This article stresses the importance of (i) advance planning of disaster rescue; (ii) the inclusion in these plans of approaches for kidney problems and their complications; (iii) the formulation of recommendations supporting (para-) medical professionals in their preventive, therapeutic and logistic approach to massive incidences of crush
