Fidelity for Multimode Thermal Squeezed States

In the theory of quantum transmission of information the concept of fidelity plays a fundamental role. An important class of channels, which can be experimentally realized in quantum optics, is that of Gaussian quantum channels. In this work we present a general formula for fidelity in the case of two arbitrary Gaussian states. From this formula one can get a previous result (H. Scutaru, J. Phys. A: Mat. Gen {\bf 31}, 3659 (1998)), for the case of a single mode; or, one can apply it to obtain a closed compact expression for multimode thermal states.Comment: 5 pages, RevTex, submitted to Phys. Rev.

    INNOVATIVE CLUSTER OR COMPETITIVENESS POLE?

The paper analyzes the situation of clusters in Romania and their areas of activity and innovation in entrepreneurship Romanian state. It is made also a territorial distribution of clusters on the eight regions. The findings lead to the conclusion that there are some clusters that have the vocation to become poles of competitiveness in areas such as renewable energy, automotive, electronics, health, biotechnology, mechatronics or ICT (Information and Communication Technology) which represent the resources for future of the Romanian economy. Regarding the degree of innovation of Romanian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), the level is relatively modest, 30.8% of all enterprises being innovative. If we were to answer the question the title suggests, we would say "yes" to both since the innovative cluster as well as the competitiveness pole promotes par excellence, innovation through study, research and stimulation of creativity. And this is more than enough to support economic growth of Romania and maintain the competitiveness worldwide

PREDICTABILITY AND COMPLEXITY IN MACROECONOMICS. THE CASE OF GROSS FIXED CAPITAL FORMATION IN THE ROMANIAN ECONOMY

There is a relationship between predictability and complexity. The problem of evaluating the complexity of the macroeconomic phenomenon can be reduced to decomposition into its principal components (which may have, in their turn, a certain degree of complexity) and to identify its common sources of evolution that are predictable. In this paper, we evaluate the predictability of economic indicators and continue with its decomposition until the simplest sources allowed by available statistical data are obtained, then use this predictable sources to construct a forecasting model.predictability, complexity, principal components, consumption, investment, foreign trade, time series forecasting

Local practices of humanitarian aid: Pharmaciens sans frontiĂšres Anjou in Romania during the 1990s

    Get PDF
The fall of the communist regime caused a massive flow of humanitarian aid to Romania, from all over the world. Pharmaciens sans frontiĂšres (PSF) Anjou, a departmental branch of PSF France, was one of them. After retrieving and sorting unused medication for three years, its members decided to take matters into their own hands and go to Romania. This also led to the development of other types of projects, such as internships and inter-university collaboration. In this article I argue that, at a local level, actions are highly influenced by individual stakeholders. Therefore, this study aims to better understand and illustrate the role of everyday practices in the evolution of humanitarian aid to Romania during the 1990s. The article will also question the purpose and utility of these person-to-person contacts

The Relation between Predictability and Complexity: Domestic and Public Consumption in the Romanian Economy

    Get PDF
We continue with the problem of the relation between predictability and complexity in the Romanian economy, analyzing other two components of GDP: domestic consumption and public consumption. The basic idea of this work is that the unpredictability of a system gives a measure of its complexity, so that in order to predict a future state of a complex system one must find the system structure explained by some simpler components that can be predicted. The complexity of the economic system is reflected in the synthetic macroeconomic indicators (GDP and its components). We find the principal components of the macroeconomic variables as a preprocessing step and model them as linear combinations of some simpler non observable predictable variables; we have constructed empirical models for domestic and public consumption; it was shown that these models are sufficiently accurate to predict for two or three periods ahead.complexity, predictability, consumption, complexity pursuit, time series forecasting

Prospects for the Evolution of the Economic Sectors’ Behavior

This paper is a synthesis of the research results obtained over the interval 2008- 20094. The problem we addressed was the following: how the evolution of an economic sector’s output was influenced when an exogenous shock occurred within its basic factors, namely the received intermediate consumptions, wage remuneration, taxes on products, gross fixed capital formation, foreign trade (expressed through the ratio of the sector’s imports to exports). The most significant distortions that may determine in circumstances of crisis severe disturbances in the functioning of the economic system were signaled.economic sectors, exogenous shock, macroeconomic simulations

INTERNATIONAL MODELS AND POLICIES OF SUCCESSFUL CLUSTERS

The paper analyses two models of successful clusters at the international level, namely, the model of French competitiveness poles and the American model of innovative clusters. In this regard it was considered the study of the policies regarding the structure of organization and governance of the French and the American clusters, their principles of operation, funding systems, and their specific peculiarities. The paper also provides a comparative analysis of the main features of these two models of clusters, highlighting the factors that contribute to their success at the international level, aspects that are part of the competitiveness policy supported by the respective states
