La boîte à outils géotechnique de demain: conception des structures géotechniques selon EN 1997: 202x

    Get PDF
This paper shows how three new concepts – ‘Design Cases’ (introduced in prEN 1990), the ‘Geotechnical Design Model’ (prEN 1997-1), and the ‘Ground Model’ (prEN 1997-2) – are combined (in prEN 1997-3) to provide a comprehensive and flexible set of tools for the design of specific geotechnical structures. The paper presents flow charts divided between: a) reliability management, b) ground modelling, c) verification of the design, and d) structure execution, which provide guidelines for navigating prEN 1990 and prEN 1997.Postprint (published version

On the duality in CPT-even Lorentz-breaking theories

    Get PDF
In this paper, we generalize the duality between self-dual and Maxwell-Chern-Simons theories for the case of a CPT-even Lorentz-breaking extension of these theories. The duality is demonstrated with use of the gauge embedding procedure, both in free and coupled cases, and with the master action approach. The physical spectra of both Lorentz-breaking theories are studied. The massive poles are shown to coincide and to respect the requirements for unitarity and causality at tree level. The extra massless poles which are present in the dualized model are shown to be nondynamical.Comment: 17 pages, version accepted to EPJ

Effective potential in Lorentz-breaking field theory models

    Get PDF
We calculate explicitly the one-loop effective potential in different Lorentz-breaking field theory models. First, we consider a Yukawa-like theory and, then, some examples of Lorentz-violating extensions of scalar QED. We observed, for the extended QED models, that the resulting effective potential converges to the known result in the limit in which Lorentz-symmetry is restored. Besides, the one-loop corrections to the effective potential in all the cases we studied depend on the background tensors responsible for the Lorentz symmetry violation. This have consequences in physical quantities like, for example, in the induced mass due to Coleman-Weinberg mechanism.Comment: Version accepted for publication in EPJ

On the relation between the propagators of dual theories

In this paper, we show that the propagator of the dual of a general Proca-like theory, derived from the gauging iterative Noether Dualization Method, can be written by means of a simple relation between known propagators. This result is also a demonstration that the Lagrangian obtained by dualization describes the same physical particles as the ones present in the original theory at the expense of introducing new non-physical (ghosts) excitations.Comment: latex, 4 page
