Der Arbeitsmarkterfolg von Immigrantinnen und Immigranten in der Schweiz : Einkommensentwicklung und Erwerbsbeteiligung im Längsschnitt

Forscher der Universitäten Zürich und St. Gallen haben im Auftrag des SECO untersucht, wie erfolgreich sich Immigrantinnen und Immigranten der Jahre 2003-2013 im Vergleich zu Personen, die in der Schweiz geboren wurden auf dem Arbeitsmarkt behaupten konnten. Die Studie konzentriert sich dabei auf die Zuwanderung ausserhalb des Asylbereichs. Die Arbeitsmarktintegration in der Schweiz funktioniert sehr gut und verbessert sich mit der Aufenthaltsdauer der Zuwanderer sukzessive. Während Zugewanderte die sehr hohe Erwerbsbeteiligung von Einheimischen im Durchschnitt nicht ganz erreichen können, liegen die Einkommen von Zugewanderten nach fünf Jahren leicht über jenen von vergleichbaren, in der Schweiz geborenen Erwerbstätigen. Die Studie greift u.a. auf verknüpfte Administrativdaten zurück und gelangt damit zu neuen und vertieften Erkenntnissen. Die Untersuchung leistet auch einen wesentlichen Beitrag zur Arbeitsmarktbeobachtung im Rahmen des Observatoriums zum Freizügigkeitsabkommen mit der EU

Migranten sind im Schweizer Arbeitsmarkt gut integriert

Immigranten integrieren sich schon nach kurzer Zeit gut in den Arbeitsmarkt. Die Männer erzielen mit den Schweizern vergleichbare Einkommen und schliessen die anfängliche Lücke bei der Erwerbsbeteiligung rasch. Immigrantinnen verdienen gar mehr als Schweizerinnen, bleiben dem Arbeitsmarkt dafür öfter fern. Seit der Unterzeichnung des Freizügigkeitsabkommens mit den EU- und Efta-Staaten im Jahr 1999 ist die Immigration aus diesem Raum in die Schweiz stark angestiegen. Dies löste eine teilweise sehr heftige wirtschafts- und gesellschaftspolitische Debatte über die möglichen Auswirkungen von erhöhter Immigration aus. Eine zentrale Rolle in dieser Debatte spielt die Arbeitsmarktintegration von Immigranten. Können diese auf dem Arbeitsmarkt nachhaltig Fuss fassen, erleichtert das ihre gesellschaftliche Integration und stärkt die Sozialwerke. Die Autoren haben deshalb in einer Studie für das Staatssekretariat für Wirtschaft (Seco) den Arbeitsmarkterfolg von Immigranten in der Schweiz analysiert und mit demjenigen von Schweizern verglichen. Für die Analyse wurden verschiedene Register- und Umfragedaten miteinander verknüpft
