Technology Decisions In New Product Development

    Get PDF
Selecting the right technology is one of the most important and challenging decisions in new product development (NPD) process that can greatly affect all downstream design activities which have a great impact on product success in the market place. Although new technologies may bring more competitive advantage by offering higher performance to price, they also make the NPD process more risky and challenging. We model the technology selection problem of a firm that is defining its new product in the presence of the technology uncertainty. At each review stage, firm has the options: select and commit to any technology alternatives or postpone this decision to the next review stage in order to gather more information. Delays in making technology decisions are likely to increase NPD cycle time by shifting forward downstream activities and ultimately may impose an increased development cost and profit loss for the firm. Our Analysis describes the optimal strategies for this problem and investigate the impact of technological and market uncertainty as well as time trade-offs on technology selection problem in NPD

Oil spills are a major menace to the environment because they severely damage the surrounding ecosystems. Persian Gulf in this century, Situating in the middle east, having more than 65 percent of world’s oil and gas resources, having huge biodiversity and existing rich resources of pearls and shells have made this location unique and valuable. Oil and gas field wastewater or produced water is a significant waste stream in the oil and gas industries. In this study, the performance of sequencing batch reactor (SBR) and sequencing batch reactor  process treating produced wastewater were investigated and compared. The SBR was operated in different hydraulic residence time (HRT) of 8, 20 and 44 h. Operation results showed that for a HRT of 20 h, the combined process effluent chemical oxygen demand (COD, oil removal efficiencies were 90.9 and 91.5 %, respectively .In this study, sequencing batch reactor(SBR) was used to treat synthetic and real produced water crude-oil-degrading Sphingomonas paucimobilis bacteria was isolated from oil-contaminated sites in the Persian Gulf and the Caspian Sea. Based on a high growth rate on crude oil and on hydrocarbon degradation ability. The combination of a SBR inoculated with a consortium of isolated halophilic microorganisms and a membrane filtration is an efficient, reliable, and compact process for organic matter produced water treatment without prior dilution

The appropriate method for overcoming problems of new organizations is to provide knowledge based teams with optimum output. Making such teams needs experienced experts. Nowadays productive organizations are increasing and their developing depends on their globalization; therefore cultural differenced may cause great changes in the decision making process in these teams. The aim of the present study is to determine the influence of social culture on male managers’ decisionmaking styles within multinational project teams. For this reason; the number of 100 person of senior and midlevel managers working in the project teams from the two company of Iranian Zirsakht Co and Korean KT Co through Available Non-probabilistic sampling method. The influence of social culture on managers’ decision-making styles has been examined through Structural Equation Model by using the software known as AMOS version 23 in the two section of Evaluation model Structural section. Also SPSS version 23 was applied for comparing analysis results. The results of the recent study showed that social culture influences managers’ decision making styles at international project teams from the two Iranian and Korean nationalities
