Chaotic dynamics around astrophysical objects with nonisotropic stresses

The existence of chaotic behavior for the geodesics of the test particles orbiting compact objects is a subject of much current research. Some years ago, Gu\'eron and Letelier [Phys. Rev. E \textbf{66}, 046611 (2002)] reported the existence of chaotic behavior for the geodesics of the test particles orbiting compact objects like black holes induced by specific values of the quadrupolar deformation of the source using as models the Erez--Rosen solution and the Kerr black hole deformed by an internal multipole term. In this work, we are interesting in the study of the dynamic behavior of geodesics around astrophysical objects with intrinsic quadrupolar deformation or nonisotropic stresses, which induces nonvanishing quadrupolar deformation for the nonrotating limit. For our purpose, we use the Tomimatsu-Sato spacetime [Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{29} 1344 (1972)] and its arbitrary deformed generalization obtained as the particular vacuum case of the five parametric solution of Manko et al [Phys. Rev. D 62, 044048 (2000)], characterizing the geodesic dynamics throughout the Poincar\'e sections method. In contrast to the results by Gu\'eron and Letelier we find chaotic motion for oblate deformations instead of prolate deformations. It opens the possibility that the particles forming the accretion disk around a large variety of different astrophysical bodies (nonprolate, e.g., neutron stars) could exhibit chaotic dynamics. We also conjecture that the existence of an arbitrary deformation parameter is necessary for the existence of chaotic dynamics.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figure

Unveiling functional linkages between habitats and organisms: Macroalgal habitats as influential factors of fish functional traits

Understanding the relationship between the characteristics of habitats and their associated community is essential to comprehend the functioning of ecological systems and prevent their degradation. This is particularly relevant for in decline, habitat-forming species, such as macroalgae, which support diverse communities of fish in temperate rocky reefs. To understand the link between the functional habitats of macroalgae and the functional dimension of their associated fish communities, we used a standardized underwater visual census to quantify the macroalgal functional diversity, as well as the functional diversity, redundancy, and richness of fish communities in 400 sites scattered in three southern temperate marine realms. Our findings reveal that functional macroalgal habitats can be classified into three groups that shape the functional diversity, redundancy, and richness of fish when considering trait commonness. These results enhance our comprehension of the functional connections between the habitat and coexisting fish within marine ecosystems, providing valuable insights for the preservation of these habitats

Realistic Exact Solution for the Exterior Field of a Rotating Neutron Star

A new six-parametric, axisymmetric and asymptotically flat exact solution of Einstein-Maxwell field equations having reflection symmetry is presented. It has arbitrary physical parameters of mass, angular momentum, mass--quadrupole moment, current octupole moment, electric charge and magnetic dipole, so it can represent the exterior field of a rotating, deformed, magnetized and charged object; some properties of the closed-form analytic solution such as its multipolar structure, electromagnetic fields and singularities are also presented. In the vacuum case, this analytic solution is matched to some numerical interior solutions representing neutron stars, calculated by Berti & Stergioulas (Mon. Not. Roy. Astron. Soc. 350, 1416 (2004)), imposing that the multipole moments be the same. As an independent test of accuracy of the solution to describe exterior fields of neutron stars, we present an extensive comparison of the radii of innermost stable circular orbits (ISCOs) obtained from Berti & Stergioulas numerical solutions, Kerr solution (Phys. Rev. Lett. 11, 237 (1963)), Hartle & Thorne solution (Ap. J. 153, 807, (1968)), an analytic series expansion derived by Shibata & Sasaki (Phys. Rev. D. 58 104011 (1998)) and, our exact solution. We found that radii of ISCOs from our solution fits better than others with realistic numerical interior solutions.Comment: 13 pages, 13 figures, LaTeX documen

Study-based Systematic Mapping Analysis of Cloud Technologies for Leveraging IT Resource and Service Management: The Case Study of the Science Gateway Approach

    Get PDF
Currently, there is a proliferation of technological tools with a Science Gateway approach. For IT administrators manage these kinds of tools is not a trivial activity, although there is a significant volume of related studies. This situation represents a latent challenge to IT administrators in TERS (Technology Ecosystem for Research Support). This paper analyzes and classifies studies related to IT resources and services management applicable to this type of technology ecosystem. Methodologically we used an adaptation of guidelines aimed at the construction of a SMS (Systematic Mapping Study). Additionally, we performed an analysis of the papers to recognize inferences and trends in them, which allowed us to claim that cloud computing technology plays a predominant role. We consider it good practice for implementations that support research processes. In this sense, we recommend to those interested in this topic to prioritize cloud technologies to achieve an adequate management of the set of IT resources and services used to support Science Gateway environments

Palabras clave: universidades, educación médica, atención primaria de salud, estrategias nacionales.ABSTRACTThe university extension, due to its importance and complexity, must be in line with a strategic perspective and with its corresponding expression within the planning of Higher Medical Education and at the level of the institutions and their structures at the same time. Currently, the universalization of Higher Medical Education in Cuba is a reality, that is why it is necessary to create a strategy which reinforces primary health care by means of health promotion, the features of the medical university extension for and with the community. However; in practice such concept shows some barriers to bring it to fruition. Promotional and university sociocultural works indicate a marked dialectic relationship between the two dimensions: administrative and technological, which from the point of view of its comprehension and implementation make possible to perfect the university extension. The new paradigm is supported by an all-embracing concept of University Extension, that is consistently diversified into its application in practice and undertake as a formative, dynamic, comprehensive and multi-faceted process, which at the same time is endorsed by a system of formation, training, encouragement, communication and assurance to make this work more effective. Health promotion is the core of the university extension in Cuban Medical University, it contributes to increase the level of awareness and the capacity of action from the individual and collective point of view by means of its projects; having basic aspects such as: the university and the extra-university community, where the main health needs are identified.Key words: universities, medical education, primary health care; national strategies

In this article the current situation of educational policies for the incorporation of ICT inschools in a sample of eight regions of Spain (Andalusia, Canary Islands, Catalonia,Extremadura, Madrid, Valencia, the Basque Country and the Principality of analyzesAsturias) after the process driven by the Escuela 2.0 program. This program was in effectduring the period 20092012 and responded to the 1:1 model of a computer per student. This analysis was guided by the following questions: What effects remain from theexperiences of educational policies of the 1:1 model?; What new projects or programs arein place in the educational systems of the regions? What new trends in relation to ICT areemerging in the educational agenda of regional policies? We conclude that the new ICTpolicy, among other things, aim to focus on the integration of IDPs to all classrooms toequipping students tablets instead of netbooks, a substitution policies textbooks paper fordigital content platforms, to create portals of cloud resources. The absence of aneducational program or policy level ICT coordinated statewide as was the experience ofSchool Program 2.0 has been observed
