    A hybrid of multiple linear regression clustering model with support vector machine for colorectal cancer tumor size prediction

    This study proposed the new hybrid model of Multiple Linear Regression Clustering (MLRC) combined with Support Vector Machine (SVM) to predict tumor size of colorectal cancer (CRC). Three models: Multiple Linear Regression (MLR), MLRC and hybrid MLRC with SVM model were compared to get the best model in predicting tumor size of colorectal cancer using two measurement statistical errors. The proposed model of hybrid MLRC with SVM have found two significant clusters whereby, each clusters contained 15 and three significant variables for cluster 1 and 2, respectively. The experiments found that the proposed model tend to be the best model with least value of Mean Square Error (MSE) and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE). This finding has shed light to health practitioner in determining the factors that contribute to colorectal cancer

Ekspresi \ud gaya hidup komunitas vespa ditampilkan melalui penampilan para Scooterist, \ud seperti cara berpakaian, model rambut, gaya berbicara, dan kebiasaan yang \ud tampak dari para Scooterist serta model vespa yang mereka tunggangi. Pandangan \ud Negatif masyarakat terhadap Komunitas Vespa di anggap sangat wajar karna \ud masyarakat belum tahu dan mengenal persis apa, bagaimana dan mengapa anak-anak Komunitas Vespa memaknai arti seni, memaknai arti kebebasan berekspresi \ud yang sesungguhnya. Kebebasan Berekspresi anak Vespa kerap di anggap \ud berlebihan sehingga masyarakat memandang perilaku mereka menyimpang, \ud padahal sebenarnya masyarakat belum tau bagaimana cara anak Vespa \ud menuangkan ekspresinya. bahwa anak Vespa hanya ingin sedikit di hargai dan di \ud terima di tengah-tengah masyarakat umum.     Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahuiapakah pemerintah desa Rambahan sudah ekonomis, dan untuk membangun infrastruktur pemberdayaan ekonomi masyarakat.Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif yang dimana bersumber dari kantor desa pemerintahan desa Rambahan Kecamatan Muara Bulian Kabupaten Batanghari, Jambi. Hasil dalam penelitian yang dilakukan maka diperoleh kesimpulan (1) Tahap perencanaan Alokasi Dana Desa di desa Rambahan telah sesuai dengan apa yang direncanakan oleh pemerintahan desa dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan masyarakat untuk meningkatkan tarap hidup masyarakat. Namun kurangnya partisipasi masyarakat desa Rambahan dalam musyawarah Penetapan Penggunaan Anggaran Dana Desa sehingga ada sebagian pihak yang berbeda pendapat. (2) Penerapan Alokasi Dana Desa (ADD) terhadap pemberdayaan masyarakat desa sudah sesuai dalam pandangan ekonomi Islam, karena sudah menerapkan dengan cukup baik prinsip ta’awun dan prinsip syurasesuai kaedah perspektif Islam. (3) Penggunaan anggaran dana desa di Desa Rambahan Kecamatan Muara Bulian dapat dilihat dari keberhasilan kinerja keuangan anggaran dana desa di Desa Rambahan tahun 2019-2021 dalam kategori bak hal ini berdasarkan kategori dan persentase setiap pernyataan-pernyataan rata-rata berada pada kategori baik dan persentasi diatas 60% sampao mencapai dbawah 80% keberhasilanya

    In-Plane Behavior of Cold-Formed Steel-Framed Shear Wall Panels Sheathed with Fibre Cement Board

    Shear wall panels are commonly used as lateral load resisting elements to provide stability of the cold-formed steel-framed houses in Australia against wind and earthquake actions. The effectiveness of their lateral resistance behavior is obtained usually by experimental testing although it can also be done by analytical modeling. This paper presents racking test results of steelframed wall panels with different aspect ratios sheathed with fibre cement board subjected to monotonic and cyclic loading protocol. Performance parameters of the wall panels are obtained from the experimentally observed load-deflection curves using various existing methods and evaluation method is proposed. The evaluation method considers various performance characteristics including ductility modification factor, residual displacement recovery and load levels satisfying ultimate and serviceability limit state conditions

    Hippuric acid nanocomposite enhances doxorubicin and oxaliplatin-induced cytotoxicity in MDA-MB231, MCF-7 and Caco2 cell lines.

    Background: The aim of the current study is to design a new nanocomposite for inducing cytotoxicity of doxorubicin and oxaliplatin toward MDA-MB231, MCF-7, and Caco2 cell lines. A hippuric acid (HA) zinc layered hydroxide (ZLH) nanocomposite was synthesized under an aqueous environment using HA and zinc oxide (ZnO) as the precursors. Methods: The hippuric acid nanocomposite (HAN) was prepared by the direct reaction of a HA solution with an aqueous suspension of ZnO. Results: The basal spacing of the nanocomposite was 21.3 Å, which is average of four harmonics at 2θ = 8.32°, 12.50°, 16.68°, and 20.84°. This result indicates that the hippurate anion was successfully intercalated into the interlayer space of ZLH. The combinations of HAN with chemotherapy (drugs) has inhibited the cell growth of the MDA-MB231, MCF-7, and Caco2 cancer cells when compared to drugs alone. An IC50 value for the combination of HAN with doxorubicin toward MCF-7 is 0.19 ± 0.15 µg/mL and toward MDA-MB231 is 0.13 ± 0.10 µg/mL. Similarly, the IC50 for the combination of HAN with oxaliplatin toward Caco2 is 0.24 ± 0.11 µg/mL. In the antiproliferative results, the equal combination of HAN (0.5 µg/mL) with doxorubicin (0.5 µg/mL) has reduced the cell proliferation in MCF-7 and MDA-MB- 231 cells into 37.3% and 17.6%, respectively after 24 hours. Similarly, the antiproliferation percentage for equal combination HAN with oxaliplatin (5.00 µg/mL) toward Caco2 is 72.7% after 24 hours. Conclusion: The resulting combination HAN with drugs has exhibited higher inhibition in cells growth in all cancer cell line

    Composition and diversity of phytoplankton from mangrove estuaries in Sarawak, Malaysia

    The composition and diversity of phytoplankton were studied along with physico-chemical parameters of water of two mangrove-dominated estuaries i.e., Kuala Sibuti (KS) and Kuala Nyalau (KN), Sarawak, Malaysia. A total of 46 species of phytoplankton with the mean density of 147000 cells L-1 were recorded from KS estuary i.e., 3 species of Cyanophyceae; 22 species of Bacillariophyceae; 20 species of Dinophyceae and 1 species of Chlorophyceae. The recorded mean density of phytoplankton was 113000 cells L-1 with 33 species from 19 genera from KN estuary, in which 19 species were from Bacillariophyceae; 12 species were from Dinophyceae; 1 species was from Cyanophyceae and 1 species was from Chlorophyceae. In both the estuaries, the species composition was found to be in an order of Diatom>Dinoflagellate>Cyanophyceae>Chlorophyceae. Canonical Correspondence Analysis (CCA) revealed that the abundance of Bacillariophyceae and Dinoflagellates was influenced by salinity and conductivity along with ammonium and phosphate while the abundance of Chlorophyceae was influenced by temperature, TDS, DO and pH in KS.     Seasonal variation of water characteristics in Kuala Sibuti river estuary in Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia

    This paper presents the water characteristics of Kuala Sibuti river estuary, which is margined by pristine mangrove forest. For this purpose, nutrients, chlorophyll a and environmental parameters were investigated for 12 months. Physical, chemical and biological parameters of this estuarine water followed a seasonal rhythm and induced by the annual cycle of the monsoon. Surface water temperature ranged from 27.4°C to 32.2°C with a wide variety of salinity from 0.70 PSU to 27.10 PSU followed by Dissolved Oxygen (DO) from 1.94 to 6.71 mg/L. The concentration of chlorophyll a was found to be varied from 0.02 to 0.16 mg/m3. Nitrate, phosphate and ammonium concentrations ranged from 0.40 to 3.53mg/L, 0.01 to 1.92 mg/L and 0.06 to 1.24 mg/L, respectively. Pearson correlation coefficients showed a significant relationship between nitrate and TDS, nitrate and pH, ammonium and salinity, temperature and salinity, temperature and TDS, phosphate and light attenuation in this estuarine environment. The estuary was found to be mesohaline in nature. Estuarine Water Quality Index (EWQI) calculated from phosphate (PO4), suspended matter (SM) and dissolved oxygen (DO) indicate very good quality (4.95). Significantly seasonal difference for salinity, water temperature and, TDS were observed probably related to tidal flow and upstream river runoff

    The effects of industrial training on students’ generic skills development

    This conceptual paper reviews the underpinning theories and past literatures on generic skills in relation to industrial training attended by students in higher learning institutions. Subsequently, a number of hypotheses and a framework of generic skills development are proposed. Four generic skills discussed are communication skill, teamwork skill, critical thinking and problem solving and moral and professional ethics. The paper proposes that the development of these generic skills is influenced by or have some relationships with students’ demographic and motivation, as well as organizational characteristics and culture. The methodology of conducting this study is also illustrated

    An adjustment degree of fitting on fuzzy linear regression model toward manufacturing income

    The regression analysis is a common tool in data analysis, while fuzzy regression can be used to analyze uncertain or imprecise data. Manufacturing companies often having difficulty predicting their future income. Thus, a new approach is required for the prediction of future company income. This article analyzed the manufacturing income by using the multiple linear regression (MLR) model and two fuzzy linear regression (FLR) model proposed by Tanaka and Zolfaghari, respectively. In order to find the optimum of the FLR model, the degree of fitting (H) was adjusted in between 0 to 1. The performance of three models has been measured by using mean square error (MSE), mean absolute error (MAE) and mean absolute percentage error (MAPE). Detailed analysis proved that Zolfaghari’s FLR model with the degree of fitting of 0.025 outperformed the MLR and FLR with Tanaka’s model with the smallest error value. In conclusion, the manufacturing income is directly correlated with six independent variables. Furthermore, three independent variables are inversely related to manufacturing income. Based on the results of this model, it appears to be suitable for predicting future manufacturing income

    Development of chitosan/alginate/silver nanoparticles hydrogel scaffold for soft tissue engineering applications

    A biodegradable scaffold in tissue engineering serves as a temporary skeleton to accommodate and stimulate new tissue growth. Alginate (Alg) and chitosan (Chi) are both popular materials applied as biomaterials or bioimplants. However, Alg derived from brown algae is highly compliant and easily decomposed in fluid, whilst Chi derived from shrimp shells has weak strength. In rectify these problems, the development of Chi and Alg based biodegradable scaffolds incorporated with silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) with enhanced mechanical properties and biosafe function is proposed. Different ratios of chitosan/alginate (Chi/Alg) were prepared and the effect of different ratio (1:1, 1:2 and 2:1) to the mechanical, biological properties with and without AgNPs and keratinocyte cell growth were investigated. The preliminary result of FTIR, UV-Vis, XRD, FESEM and EDS proved the production of silver nanoparticles. Meanwhile, FTIR, swelling/degradation, DMA, TGA, DSC, FESEM and MTT assay was conducted to study the properties of Chi/Alg based scaffold. FTIR analysis shows the crosslinking of Chi/Alg based scaffold. Swelling/degradation and DMA shows Chi/Alg and chitosan/alginate/silver nanoparticles (Chi/Alg/AgNPs) has adequate swelling and compressive modulus that exceed the epidermis’ Young modulus, thus able to provide mechanical support upon application. Meanwhile, the thermal analysis revealed that the onset decomposition temperature of scaffold were at around 70 ºC which is due to the loss of water present in the scaffold thus thermally safe for soft tissue application. Based on FESEM result, there are different in surface structure of Chi/Alg based scaffold. Finally, with the incorporation of 0.3 % PVP synthesised AgNPs in Chi/Alg based scaffold, cells are able to live up to 14 days. As a result, Chi incorporation in the Alg and AgNPs improved physical, mechanical properties of hydrogel itself and provide biosafe environment during the study
