“Five Plus Two” skills set and success of young art entrepreneurs : a case study of seven visual artists / Dr Abdul Rahim Said

    Get PDF
This article aims at showcasing the design, development and implementation of a Young Art Entrepreneurs (YAE) career development scheme for visual artists, based on a model of “five plus two” entrepreneurial skills sets, advanced by Marco Thom (2016). It documents the philosophy, approach and methodology to develop entrepreneurship skills amongst seven young graduate artists over a period of six months. Findings based on an analysis of seven case studies of individual artists involved in the First Cohort of YAE in 2017, indicate that those who are able to better internalize the “five plus two” skill sets, seem to show a greater chance of success in launching and managing their own art enterprises

Indonesia is “ a state of law” or “rechtstaat” which is its governance and society based on Pancasila (Five State Principles) and Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia 1945. It is known also as a state with various cultures and its noble character. However, it is commonly to be heard lately a slogan “Indonesia as emerging narcotics state”. Narcotics circulation in Indonesia juridically is allowed by law (valid) with some certain reasons, such as for medicine and research purposes. The rule of it can be seen in article 7 of the Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics. Articles 111 to 148 the law No. 35 of 2009 state that “any person that without right or against the law who circulates the narcotics will be punished”. The article 133 subsection (1) and (2) of the law No. 35 of 2009 is the only article of the Law states it. However, the article only puts the child as a victim of the adult person who circulates the narcotics. The provision related to the dealer narcotics can be seen in article 111, 112, 113,114, 115, 116, and 127 of the Law No. 35 of 2009. Keywords: Formulation, Narcotics, Child Dealer

The Effectiveness of Three Preservatives and the Relative Resistance of Ten Malaysian H:ardwoods against the Subterranean Termite, Coptoterm1es curvignathus (Holm.).

Effectiveness of three preservatives and relative resistance of ten species of hardwoods were tested against the subterranean termite, Coptotermes curvignathus (Holm.), in laboratory bioassay. All three preservatives evaluated significantly increased wood resistance to attack. Copper-chrome-arsenic (CCA) was more effective than either sodium pentachlorophenol (Na PCP) or sodium tribromophenol (Na TBP). The bioassay indicated that the heavy hardwoods, Chengal and Resak were the least susceptible woods with a wood mass loss less than one per cent. The light hardwoods, Light red meranti, Jelutong andDamar minyak, were the most susceptible wood with a wood mass loss exceeding ten per cent

Truths and myths of management practices and job satisfaction among middle level management at public institutions of higher learning in Malaysia

    Get PDF
Public institutions of higher learning are given an important and huge responsibility to produce graduates to enables a sustainable and continuous development of the country. Consequently the institutional require hard working, high commitment and competent staff members. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to examine empirically the relationship between management practices on job satisfaction among middle level management at public institutions of higher learning in northern region in Malaysia. Specifically, the dimension of management practices examined was leadership practices, communication practices and decision making practices. The respondents of the study are 133 management and professional staff members of various service schemes in grade 41 (under Malaysian Remuneration Scheme). The Pearson Correlation analysis suggested management practices have significant correlation with job satisfaction. Multiple Regression analysis indicated that leadership practices were the only predictor in explaining the respondents' job satisfaction

Strategies of Accessible City for Malaysia as A Developing Country

Becoming an Accessible City in developing countries has mitigating barriers as compared to developed countries. It is comprehensive to non-discriminate PwDs in access and facilities for equal opportunity. Accessibility legislation of different nations has various success in implementing and enforcing Universal Design through regulatory, government initiatives, and planning approaches. ASEAN developing nations have awareness and advocacy, because the fragmentary built environment, resulting in Accessible City concept that has not strived to expectation. Eliciting from interviews of access consultants and city planning regulations from London, Oslo, and Singapore. Conclusively, extraction of inclusion strategies is to be adapted for implementation in Malaysia. Investigation into the selection of an appropriate piston head geometry for a spark ignition engine equipped direct-fuel injector

    Get PDF
Constructors of gasoline engines are faced with higher and higher requirements as regards to ecological issues and an increase in engine efficiency at a simultaneous decrease in fuel consumption. Satisfaction of these requirements is possible by the recognition of the phenomena occurring inside the engine cylinder, the choice of suitable optimal parameters of the fuel injection process, and the determination of the geometrical shapes of the combustion chamber and the piston head. The aim of the study was to simulate flow in Direct-Injection Fuel engine with different geometrical shapes of piston head. The method of design piston head shapes was referring to existing motorcycle Demak single cylinder 200cc piston size using Solidwork and ANSYS softwarse. The parameter was shallow and deep bowl design on piston head. In term of fuel distribution throughout the combustion chamber, second model that having deeper bowl shows a better fuel distribution than first model as it manages to direct flow the fuel injected towards the location of spark plug. Therefore, second model is chosen as the best model among the two models as it can create a richer mixture around the spark plug

A study on cryogenic supercritical carbon dioxide coolant delivery technique when machining of AISI 1045 steel

The machining operation involves a material removal process and develop high temperature due to the friction force. The heat generated at the region of cutting edge has critical influences on machining process. It can increase cutting tool wear, reduce tool life, get rise to thermal deformation and might consequence to microcracks. The application of cutting fluid at the cutting zone by conventional process could overcomes the aforementioned problems to some extent via cooling and lubrication process. However, the waste of cutting fluid might be profuse and its impact on the environment. A new efficient process, cryogenic cooling using carbon dioxide gas (CO2) has been introduced on improving the cooling process. This technique is more economical in coolant usage while maintaining significant performance including cutting temperature, cutting force and surface roughness. The pulse mode of CO2 cooling spray under supercritical state has been used to corroborate the machining process by reducing the cutting zone temperature as to reducing coolant usage
