MOLECULARLY IMPRINTED POLYMERS FOR CONTROLLING DRUG RELEASE. PART 1: SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION. Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) consist of synthetic macromolecular matrix, obtained through molecular imprinting-based methods that show ability to selectively recognize important biological molecules and its application in the drug delivery field is under development. In the present review the main aspects related to the synthesis and characterization of MIPs are studied. The fundamental variables participating in the synthesis process. Such as template molecule, functional monomers. cross-linking agents, solvents, and imprinting approaches are discussed, Moreover. the main available methods for MIPs chemical and morphological characterization are presented and the importance of the obtained information is discussed

This article describes the role of the tutor, called Discipline Advisor, in the pedagogy blended course offered by UNESP in partnership with UNIVESP, during the period from 2010 to 2013. Besides the description of the activities performed by the tutor, it seeks to analyze the importance of this actor in the development of pedagogical actions in a course at distance mode.

Theoretical-methodological notes: Stephen J. Ball’s contributions for education policies research

    Get PDF
This paper presents some theoretical-methodological contributions by Stephen J. Ball for educational policy research. Throughout the text the following concepts are analyzed: politics as text and discourse, policy cycle approach, theory of enactment, new managerialism and performativity. It is concluded that such concepts developed by Ball, when analyzing the British and European scenarios, can contribute to the research of Brazilian educational policy, especially those focused on the policy in large scale external evaluation

Promptify: Text-to-Image Generation through Interactive Prompt Exploration with Large Language Models

Text-to-image generative models have demonstrated remarkable capabilities in generating high-quality images based on textual prompts. However, crafting prompts that accurately capture the user's creative intent remains challenging. It often involves laborious trial-and-error procedures to ensure that the model interprets the prompts in alignment with the user's intention. To address the challenges, we present Promptify, an interactive system that supports prompt exploration and refinement for text-to-image generative models. Promptify utilizes a suggestion engine powered by large language models to help users quickly explore and craft diverse prompts. Our interface allows users to organize the generated images flexibly, and based on their preferences, Promptify suggests potential changes to the original prompt. This feedback loop enables users to iteratively refine their prompts and enhance desired features while avoiding unwanted ones. Our user study shows that Promptify effectively facilitates the text-to-image workflow and outperforms an existing baseline tool widely used for text-to-image generation

SynthScribe: Deep Multimodal Tools for Synthesizer Sound Retrieval and Exploration

Synthesizers are powerful tools that allow musicians to create dynamic and original sounds. Existing commercial interfaces for synthesizers typically require musicians to interact with complex low-level parameters or to manage large libraries of premade sounds. To address these challenges, we implement SynthScribe -- a fullstack system that uses multimodal deep learning to let users express their intentions at a much higher level. We implement features which address a number of difficulties, namely 1) searching through existing sounds, 2) creating completely new sounds, 3) making meaningful modifications to a given sound. This is achieved with three main features: a multimodal search engine for a large library of synthesizer sounds; a user centered genetic algorithm by which completely new sounds can be created and selected given the users preferences; a sound editing support feature which highlights and gives examples for key control parameters with respect to a text or audio based query. The results of our user studies show SynthScribe is capable of reliably retrieving and modifying sounds while also affording the ability to create completely new sounds that expand a musicians creative horizon

This article presents the design of a power system based on flywheel to mitigate voltage sags. With this system the power quality is improved at a point in a distribution network, which is subject to the random connection of electric machines. For this purpose, the power distribution system is modeled, the power supply system which is composed of an electric machine with flywheel, the bidirectional energy conversion system and the current, voltage and speed control system. The designed system enables supplying a power of 22.8 kW and capacity of 1.2 Wh, compensating the transients produced by the loads connected to the network.Este artículo presenta el diseño de un sistema de energía basado en volante de inercia para mitigar los huecos de tensión. Behavioral and electroencephalographic analysis of seizures induced by intrahippocampal injection of granulitoxin, a neurotoxic peptide from the sea anemone Bunodosoma granulifera

In this study, the behavioral and electroencephalographic (EEG) analysis of seizures induced by the intrahippocampal injection in rats of granulitoxin, a neurotoxic peptide from the sea anemone Bunodosoma granulifera, was determined. The first alterations occurred during microinjection of granulitoxin (8 µg) into the dorsal hippocampus and consisted of seizure activity that began in the hippocampus and spread rapidly to the occipital cortex. This activity lasted 20-30 s, and during this period the rats presented immobility. During the first 40-50 min after its administration, three to four other similar short EEG seizure periods occurred and the rats presented the following behavioral alterations: akinesia, facial automatisms, head tremor, salivation, rearing, jumping, barrel-rolling, wet dog shakes and forelimb clonic movements. Within 40-50 min, the status epilepticus was established and lasted 8-12 h. These results are similar to those observed in the acute phase of the pilocarpine model of temporal lobe epilepsy and suggest that granulitoxin may be a useful tool not only to study the sodium channels, but also to develop a new experimental model of status epilepticus.Universidade Estadual do Ceará Departamento de Ciências Fisiológicas Laboratório de NeurofarmacologiaUniversidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP) Departamento de Neurologia e Neurocirurgia Laboratório de Neurologia ExperimentalUniversidade de Brasília Departamento de Biologia Celular Centro Brasileiro de Serviços e Pesquisas em ProteínasUNIFESP, Depto. de Neurologia e Neurocirurgia Laboratório de Neurologia ExperimentalSciEL
