On Yukawa quasi-unification with mu<0
Although recent data on the muon anomalous magnetic moment strongly disfavor
the constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model with mu<0, they cannot
exclude it because of theoretical ambiguities. We consider this model
supplemented by a Yukawa quasi-unification condition which allows an acceptable
b-quark mass. We find that the cosmological upper bound on the lightest
sparticle relic abundance is incompatible with the data on the branching ratio
of b-->s gamma, which is evaluated by including all the next-to-leading order
corrections. Thus, this scheme is not viable.Comment: 4 pages including 3 figures, Revte
What if Supersymmetry Breaking Unifies beyond the GUT Scale?
We study models in which soft supersymmetry-breaking parameters of the MSSM
become universal at some unification scale, , above the GUT scale,
\mgut. We assume that the scalar masses and gaugino masses have common
values, and respectively, at . We use the
renormalization-group equations of the minimal supersymmetric SU(5) GUT to
evaluate their evolutions down to \mgut, studying their dependences on the
unknown parameters of the SU(5) superpotential. After displaying some generic
examples of the evolutions of the soft supersymmetry-breaking parameters, we
discuss the effects on physical sparticle masses in some specific examples. We
note, for example, that near-degeneracy between the lightest neutralino and the
lighter stau is progressively disfavoured as increases. This has the
consequence, as we show in planes for several different values
of , that the stau coannihilation region shrinks as
increases, and we delineate the regions of the plane
where it is absent altogether. Moreover, as increases, the focus-point
region recedes to larger values of for any fixed and
. We conclude that the regions of the plane that are
commonly favoured in phenomenological analyses tend to disappear at large

Comments on No-Hair Theorems and Stabilty of Blackholes
In the light of recent blackhole solutions inspired by string theory, we
review some old statements on field theoretic hair on blackholes. We also
discuss some stability issues. In particular we argue that the two dimensional
string blackhole solution is semi-classically stable while the naked
singularity is unstable to tachyon fluctuations. Finally we comment on the
relation between the linear dilaton theory and the blackhole solution.Comment: 14 page
Relic Neutralino Densities and Detection Rates with Nonuniversal Gaugino Masses
We extend previous analyses on the interplay between nonuniversalities in the
gaugino mass sector and the thermal relic densities of LSP neutralinos, in
particular to the case of moderate to large tan beta. We introduce a set of
parameters that generalizes the standard unified scenario to cover the complete
allowed parameter space in the gaugino mass sector. We discuss the physical
significance of the cosmologically preferred degree of degeneracy between
charginos and the LSP and study the effect this degree of degeneracy has on the
prospects for direct detection of relic neutralinos in the next round of dark
matter detection experiments. Lastly, we compare the fine tuning required to
achieve a satisfactory relic density with the case of universal gaugino masses,
as in minimal supergravity, and find it to be of a similar magnitude. The
sensitivity of quantifiable measures of fine-tuning on such factors as the
gluino mass and top and bottom masses is also examined.Comment: Uses RevTeX; 14 pages, 16 figure
Constrained Supersymmetric Flipped SU(5) GUT Phenomenology
We explore the phenomenology of the minimal supersymmetric flipped SU(5) GUT
model (CFSU(5)), whose soft supersymmetry-breaking (SSB) mass parameters are
constrained to be universal at some input scale, , above the GUT scale,
. We analyze the parameter space of CFSU(5) assuming that the lightest
supersymmetric particle (LSP) provides the cosmological cold dark matter,
paying careful attention to the matching of parameters at the GUT scale. We
first display some specific examples of the evolutions of the SSB parameters
that exhibit some generic features. Specifically, we note that the relationship
between the masses of the lightest neutralino and the lighter stau is sensitive
to , as is the relationship between the neutralino mass and the masses
of the heavier Higgs bosons. For these reasons, prominent features in generic
planes such as coannihilation strips and rapid-annihilation
funnels are also sensitive to , as we illustrate for several cases with
tan(beta)=10 and 55. However, these features do not necessarily disappear at
large , unlike the case in the minimal conventional SU(5) GUT. Our
results are relatively insensitive to neutrino masses.Comment: 23 pages, 8 figures; (v2) added explanations and corrected typos,

Bayesian approach and Naturalness in MSSM analyses for the LHC
The start of LHC has motivated an effort to determine the relative
probability of the different regions of the MSSM parameter space, taking into
account the present, theoretical and experimental, wisdom about the model.
Since the present experimental data are not powerful enough to select a small
region of the MSSM parameter space, the choice of a judicious prior probability
for the parameters becomes most relevant. Previous studies have proposed
theoretical priors that incorporate some (conventional) measure of the
fine-tuning, to penalize unnatural possibilities. However, we show that such
penalization arises from the Bayesian analysis itself (with no ad hoc
assumptions), upon the marginalization of the mu-parameter. Furthermore the
resulting effective prior contains precisely the Barbieri-Giudice measure,
which is very satisfactory. On the other hand we carry on a rigorous treatment
of the Yukawa couplings, showing in particular that the usual practice of
taking the Yukawas "as required", approximately corresponds to taking
logarithmically flat priors in the Yukawa couplings. Finally, we use an
efficient set of variables to scan the MSSM parameter space, trading in
particular B by tan beta, giving the effective prior in the new parameters.
Beside the numerical results, we give accurate analytic expressions for the
effective priors in all cases. Whatever experimental information one may use in
the future, it is to be weighted by the Bayesian factors worked out here.Comment: LaTeX, 19 pages, 3 figure
Collider signals from slow decays in supersymmetric models with an intermediate-scale solution to the mu problem
The problem of the origin of the mu parameter in the Minimal Supersymmetric
Standard Model can be solved by introducing singlet supermultiplets with
non-renormalizable couplings to the ordinary Higgs supermultiplets. The
Peccei-Quinn symmetry is broken at a scale which is the geometric mean between
the weak scale and the Planck scale, yielding a mu term of the right order of
magnitude and an invisible axion. These models also predict one or more singlet
fermions which have electroweak-scale masses and suppressed couplings to MSSM
states. I consider the case that such a singlet fermion, containing the axino
as an admixture, is the lightest supersymmetric particle. I work out the
relevant couplings in several of the simplest models of this type, and compute
the partial decay widths of the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle
involving leptons or jets. Although these decays will have an average proper
decay length which is most likely much larger than a typical collider detector,
they can occasionally occur within the detector, providing a striking signal.
With a large sample of supersymmetric events, there will be an opportunity to
observe these decays, and so gain direct information about physics at very high
energy scales.Comment: 24 pages, LaTeX, 4 figure
Electroweak Supersymmetry around the Electroweak Scale
Inspired by the phenomenological constraints, LHC supersymmetry and Higgs
searches, dark matter search as well as string model building, we propose the
electroweak supersymmetry around the electroweak scale: the squarks and/or
gluinos are around a few TeV while the sleptons, sneutrinos, bino and winos are
within one TeV. The Higgsinos can be either heavy or light. We consider bino as
the dominant component of dark matter candidate, and the observed dark matter
relic density is achieved via the neutralino-stau coannihilations. Considering
the Generalized Minimal Supergravity (GmSUGRA), we show explicitly that the
electroweak supersymmetry can be realized, and the gauge coupling unification
can be preserved. With two Scenarios, we study the viable parameter spaces that
satisfy all the current phenomenological constraints, and we present the
concrete benchmark points. Furthermore, we comment on the fine-tuning problem
and LHC searches.Comment: RevTex4, 28 pages, 8 figures, 8 tables, version to appear in EPJ
A Supersymmetric SO(10) Model with Inflation and Cosmic Strings
We have built a supersymmetric SO(10) model consistent with cosmological
observations. The model gives rise to a false vacuum hybrid inflationary
scenario which solves the monopole problem. We argue that this type of
inflationary scenario is generic in supersymmetric SO(10) model, and arises
naturally from the theory. Neither any external field nor any external symmetry
has to be added. It can just be a consequence of the theory. In our specific
model, at the end of inflation, cosmic strings form. The properties of the
strings are presented. The cosmic background radiation anisotropies induced by
the inflationary perturbations and the cosmic strings are estimated. The model
produces a stable lightest superparticle and a very light left-handed neutrino
which may serve as the cold and hot dark matter. The properties of a mixed
cosmic string-inflationary large scale structure formation scenario are
discussed.Comment: 32 pages, uses RevTex. Misprint in a referenc
Neutralino Dark Matter, b-tau Yukawa Unification and Non-Universal Sfermion Masses
We study the implications of minimal non-Universal Boundary Conditions in the
sfermion Soft SUSY Breaking (SSB) masses of mSUGRA. We impose asymptotic b-tau
Yukawa coupling Unification and we resort to a parameterization of the
deviation from Universality in the SSB motivated by the multiplet structure of
SU(5) GUT. A set of cosmo-phenomenological constraints, including the recent
results from WMAP, determines the allowed parameter space of the models under
consideration. We highlight a new coannihilation corridor where
neutralino-sbottom and neutralino-tau sneutrino-stau coannihilations
significantly contribute to the reduction of the neutralino relic density.Comment: 38 pages, 27 Figures, Latex; Version accepted for publication in PR
