Time-dependent coupled oscillator model for charged particle motion in the presence of a time varyingmagnetic field
The dynamics of time-dependent coupled oscillator model for the charged
particle motion subjected to a time-dependent external magnetic field is
investigated. We used canonical transformation approach for the classical
treatment of the system, whereas unitary transformation approach is used when
managing the system in the framework of quantum mechanics. For both approaches,
the original system is transformed to a much more simple system that is the sum
of two independent harmonic oscillators which have time-dependent frequencies.
We therefore easily identified the wave functions in the transformed system
with the help of invariant operator of the system. The full wave functions in
the original system is derived from the inverse unitary transformation of the
wave functions associated to the transformed system.Comment: 16 page
The definability criterions for convex projective polyhedral reflection groups
Following Vinberg, we find the criterions for a subgroup generated by
reflections \Gamma \subset \SL^{\pm}(n+1,\mathbb{R}) and its finite-index
subgroups to be definable over where is an integrally
closed Noetherian ring in the field . We apply the criterions for
groups generated by reflections that act cocompactly on irreducible properly
convex open subdomains of the -dimensional projective sphere. This gives a
method for constructing injective group homomorphisms from such Coxeter groups
to \SL^{\pm}(n+1,\mathbb{Z}). Finally we provide some examples of
\SL^{\pm}(n+1,\mathbb{Z})-representations of such Coxeter groups. In
particular, we consider simplicial reflection groups that are isomorphic to
hyperbolic simplicial groups and classify all the conjugacy classes of the
reflection subgroups in \SL^{\pm}(n+1,\mathbb{R}) that are definable over
. These were known by Goldman, Benoist, and so on previously.Comment: 31 pages, 8 figure
Putative spin liquid in the triangle-based iridate BaIrTiO
We report on thermodynamic, magnetization, and muon spin relaxation
measurements of the strong spin-orbit coupled iridate BaIrTiO,
which constitutes a new frustration motif made up a mixture of edge- and
corner-sharing triangles. In spite of strong antiferromagnetic exchange
interaction of the order of 100~K, we find no hint for long-range magnetic
order down to 23 mK. The magnetic specific heat data unveil the -linear and
-squared dependences at low temperatures below 1~K. At the respective
temperatures, the zero-field muon spin relaxation features a persistent spin
dynamics, indicative of unconventional low-energy excitations. A comparison to
the isostructural compound BaRuTiO suggests that a concerted
interplay of compass-like magnetic interactions and frustrated geometry
promotes a dynamically fluctuating state in a triangle-based iridate.Comment: Physical Review B accepte
Factorization in graviton interactions
The study of factorization in the linearized gravity is extended to the
graviton scattering processes with a massive scalar particle, with a massless
vector boson and also with a graviton. Every transition amplitude is shown to
be completely factorized and the physical implications of their common factors
are discussed.Comment: 5 pages, Revtex 3.0, SNUTP 93-7
Identifying the Higgs Spin and Parity in Decays to Z Pairs
Higgs decays to Z boson pairs may be exploited to determine spin and parity
of the Higgs boson, a method complementary to spin-parity measurements in
Higgs-strahlung. For a Higgs mass above the on-shell ZZ decay threshold, a
model-independent analysis can be performed, but only by making use of
additional angular correlation effects in gluon-gluon fusion at the LHC and
gamma-gamma fusion at linear colliders. In the intermediate mass range, in
which the Higgs boson decays into pairs of real and virtual Z bosons, threshold
effects and angular correlations, parallel to Higgs-strahlung, may be adopted
to determine spin and parity, though high event rates will be required for the
analysis in practice.Comment: 14 pages, 2 postscript figure
