El monocultivo olivarero jiennense: conformación histórica, valores patrimoniales y proyección cultural-turística

    Get PDF

Olive grove is the most common crop and the economic basis of much of the rural municipalities of Andalusia, often reaching the condition of monoculture. To contribute to the maintenance and development of these territories, the conservation and enhancement of the landscape and culture of the olive grove is currently seen as an asset for sustainable development and regional competitiveness. The objective of our work is to show the vast internal diversity it contains, and how this is reflected in landscape terms. So, we’ve created a spatial database in which agricultural, chronological and spatial variables are integrated. As a final result four broad categories of olive landscapes are presented: marginal, in protected areas, traditional and productivists. Unraveling the Highly Complex Nature of Antimony on Pt(111)

Understanding the growth behavior of group-V elements on metal surfacesprovides valuable information that can shed light on the feasibility of tailoringatomically thin monoelemental 2D polymorphs composed of pnictogens onthese metallic substrates. Here, by combining scanning tunneling micro-scopy (STM), low energy electron diffraction and Auger electron spectroscopymeasurements under ultra-high vacuum conditions, a wide variety of Sbreconstructions on single-crystal Pt(111) are identified and characterized. AtSb coverage of ≈0.2 ML, STM data are compatible with a scenario in which Sbatoms are randomly embedded into the topmost layer of Pt, in a substitutionalconfiguration and without establishing a periodic structure. This disorderis robust against thermal annealing and quenching. Increasing the surfacecoverage and whether or not the sample is annealed, different well-orderedSb phases are formed. The Sb structures synthesized at room temperaturewithout any heating process are best interpreted as surface alloys that involveonly the first atomic layer. In contrast, experimental evidence points towardsthe development of multilayer alloy phases for the annealed samplesFinancial support from the Spanish Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad (MINECO)and Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER) under grant No. MAT2016-77852-C2-2-R, as well as from the Spanish Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación through the “María de Maetzu” program forunits of excellence in R&D (grant No. CEX2018-000805-M) is gratefully acknowledged. Growth of 1D ClAlPc molecular chains mediated by graphene moiré patterns

The on-surface formation of iso-oriented 1D molecular architectures, with high structural perfection, on 2D materials has been a long-sought objective. However, such realization has been troublesome and limited, and it still remains an experimental challenge. Here, the quasi-1D stripe-like moiré pattern, arising at the interface of graphene grown on Rh(110), has been used to guide the formation of 1D molecular wires of π-conjugated, non-planar, chloro-aluminum phthalocyanine (ClAlPc) molecules, brought together by van der Waals interactions. Using scanning tunnelling microscopy (STM) under ultra-high vacuum (UHV) at 40 K, the preferential adsorption orientations of the molecules at low coverages have been investigated. The results shed light on the potential signature of graphene lattice symmetry breaking, induced by the incommensurate quasi-1D moiré pattern of Gr/Rh(110), as the subtle mechanism behind this templated growth of 1D molecular structures. For coverages close to 1 ML, the molecule–molecule interactions favor a closely packed square lattice arrangement. The present work provides new insights to tailor 1D molecular structures on graphene grown on a non-hexagonal metal substrateFinancial support from the Spanish Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad (MINECO) and Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER) under grant no. To access the final edited and published work see https://doi.org/10.1186/s12913-022-08222-9Objective Analyze the cost contributors and their impact on the drug cost avoidance (DCA) resulting from cancer clinical trials over the period of 2015–2020 in a tertiary-level hospital in Spain (HCUVA). Methods We performed a cross-sectional, observational, retrospective study of a total of 53 clinical trials with 363 patients enrolled. We calculated the DCA from the price of the best standard of care (i.e.: drugs that the institution would otherwise fund). A linear regression model was used to determine cost contributors and estimate their impact. Results The total DCA was ~ 4.9 million euros (31 clinical trials; 177 enrollees), representing ~ 30% and ~ 0,05% approximately of the annual pharmaceutical expenditures at the HCUVA and for the Spanish Health System, respectively. Cancer type analysis showed that lung cancer had the highest average DCA by trial, indicating that treatments in these trials were the most expensive. Linear regression analysis showed that the number of patients in a trial did not significantly affect that trial's DCA. Instead, cancer type, phase trials, and intention of treatment were significant cost contributors to DCA. Compared to digestive cancer trials, breast and lung trials were significantly more expensive, (p < 0.05 and p < 0.1, respectively). Phase III trials were more expensive than Phase II (p < 0.01) and adjuvant trials were less expensive than palliative (p < 0.05). Conclusion We studied cost contributors that significantly impacted the estimated DCA from cancer clinical trials. Our work provides the groundwork to explore DCA contributors with potential to enhance public relations material and serve as a negotiating tool for budgeting, thus playing an important role to inform decisions about resource allocation

Aperiodic modulation of graphene driven by oxygen-induced reconstruction of Rh(110)

Artificial nanostructuring of graphene has served as a platform to induce variations in its structural and electronic properties, fostering the experimental observation of a wide and fascinating phenomenology. Here, we present an approach to graphene tuning, based on Rh(110) surface reconstruction induced by oxygen atoms intercalation. The resulting nanostructured graphene has been characterized by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) complemented by low-energy electron microscopy (LEEM), micro low-energy electron diffraction (μ-LEED), micro angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (μ-ARPES), and micro X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (μ-XPS) measurements under ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) conditions at room temperature (RT). It is found that by fine-tuning the O2 exposure amount, a mixture of missing row surface reconstructions of the metal surface below the graphene layer can be induced. This atomic rearrangement under the graphene layer results in aperiodic patterning of the two-dimensional (2D) material. The electronic structure of the resulting nanostructured graphene is dominated by a linear dispersion of the Dirac quasiparticles, characteristic of its free-standing state but with a p-doping character. The local effects of the underlying missing rows on the interfacial chemistry and on the quasiparticle scattering processes in graphene are studied using atomically resolved STM images. The possibilities offered by this nanostructuring approach, which consists in inducing surface reconstructions under graphene, could provide a novel tuning strategy for this 2D materialSpanish MINECO (Ref: MAT2016-77852-C2-2-R). Dirac cones in graphene grown on a half-filled 4d-band transition metal

New opportunities for structural and electronic properties engineering of graphene can be achieved by tuning the interfacial interaction, which is ruled by the interplay between d-band filling and geometry of the support. Here, is demonstrated the growth of graphene, featuring Dirac cones around the Fermi level, on the rectangular (110) surfaces of Rh, a half-filled 4d-band transition metal element. The analysis of the structural properties by low energy electron diffraction (LEED) and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) shows that domains with a continuum of possible graphene-substrate orientations with angular scatter of around 10◦ coexist in graphene/Rh (110) surfaces. Within each domain, surface structure is characterized by a distinct stripe-like moir´e pattern. The interfacial chemistry analysis, by microprobeX-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (μ-XPS), of all the rotational domains studied, demonstrates the existence of two main levels of interfacial interaction strength, similar to previously reported graphene-metal systems characterized by the absence of Dirac cones around the Fermi level. However, the band structures of these domains probed by micro angle resolved photoelectron spectroscopy (μ-ARPES) present Dirac cones, with Fermi velocities comparable with those previously reported on weakly coupled graphene layers. Both the unique properties of graphene/Rh(110) surfaces and the prospect to obtain novel graphene-metal interfaces through the interplay between d-band filling and geometry, are expected to open new opportunities to study phenomena up to now masked behind the interaction with the substrateFinancial support from the Spanish MINECO under project MAT2016-77852-C2-2-R, from the “María de Maeztu” program for units of excellence in R&D (grant number CEX2018-000805-M) is gratefully acknowledged.
