Oxidation resistant porous material for transpiration cooled vanes
Porous metal sheet with controlled permeability was made by space winding and diffusion bonding fine wire. Two iron-chromium-aluminum alloys and three-chromium alloys were used: GE 1541 (Fe-Cr-Al-Y), H 875 (Fe-Cr-Al-Si), TD Ni Cr, DH 245 (Ni-Cr-Al-Si) and DH 242 (Ni-Cr-Si-Cb). GE 1541 and H 875 were shown in initial tests to have greater oxidation resistance than the other candidate alloys and were therefore tested more extensively. These two materials were cyclic furnace oxidation tested in air at 1800 and 2000 F for accumulated exposure times of 4, 16, 64, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, and and 600 hours. Oxidation weight gain, permeability change and mechanical properties were determined after exposure. Metallographic examination was performed to determine effects of exposure on the porous metal and electron beam weld joints of porous sheet to IN 100 strut material. Hundred hour stress rupture life and tensile tests were performed at 1800 F. Both alloys had excellent oxidation resistance and retention of mechanical properties and appear suitable for use as transpiration cooling materials in high temperature gas turbine engines

How to Solve the Price Puzzle? A Meta-Analysis
The short-run increase in prices following an unexpected tightening of monetary policy represents a frequently reported puzzle. Yet the puzzle is surprisingly easy to explain away when all published models are quantitatively reviewed. We collect about 1,000 point estimates of impulse responses from 70 articles using vector autoregressive models and present a simple method of research synthesis for graphical results. We find some evidence of publication selection against the price puzzle. Our results suggest that the reported impulse responses depend systematically on the study design: when misspecifications are filtered out, the average impulse response shows that prices decrease soon after a tightening. The long-run response of prices to monetary policy shocks depends on the characteristics of the economy.Meta-analysis, monetary policy transmission, price puzzle, publication selection bias.
Evaluating Changes in the Monetary Transmission Mechanism in the Czech Republic
We investigate the evolution of the monetary policy transmission mechanism in the Czech Republic over the 1996-2010 period by employing a time-varying parameters Bayesian vector autoregression model with stochastic volatility. We evaluate whether the response of GDP and the price level to exchange rate or interest rate shocks changes over time, with a focus on the period of the recent financial crisis. Furthermore, we augment the estimated system with a lending rate and credit growth to shed light on the relative importance of financial shocks for the macroeconomic environment. Our results suggest that output and prices have become increasingly responsive to monetary policy shocks, probably reflecting financial sector deepening, more persistent monetary policy shocks, and overall economic development associated with disinflation. On the other hand, exchange rate pass-through has weakened somewhat over time, suggesting improved credibility of inflation targeting in the Czech Republic with anchored inflation expectations. We find that credit shocks had a more sizeable impact on output and prices during the period of bank restructuring with difficult access to credit. In general, our results show that financial shocks are less important for the aggregate economy in an environment of a stable financial system.Monetary policy transmission, sign restrictions, time-varying parameters.
Implementation of Romanian Agrarian Reform Regulations in Bessarabia and Bucovina during between-war Period
The article talks about achieving conditions of agrarian reform in the years 1920-1921, in Bukovina and Bessarabia. The journals and archival documents, which refer to this problem, are not fully used in the scientific literature. The research proposed by the author allows a reflection of agrarian realities in some counties of Bukovina and Bessarabia. It is an attempt to review the basic stages of this process. The collected material proved that in the region, the conditions for a reform were fulfilled. The agrarian overcrowding did not allow authorities to give land to all peasants. Solving this problem, at that time, was impossible, because of the lack of arable land in a specific region. A positive aspect of land reform must be noticed: after its achievement, the correlation between the landowners and small tenants was changed -tens of thousands of peasants were granted with land
Wisdom from Experience: Understanding Men\u27s Experience of Marriage and Poverty
The current study looked to understand the relationship between marriage and poverty from a male perspective. Previous research identified a number of barriers to marriage of those in poverty, with an emphasis on a female perspective. Previous research also found that there is a desire to marry amongst women who have experienced poverty, however many do not because of the lack of quality, marriage-ready candidates. The current research sought to fill this gap through better understanding men\u27s experience of marriage and poverty. Data was collected through a qualitative design by interviewing 13 men who had experienced poverty and had been married. The data was analyzed through open coding and organized around grounded categories
