Assessing Cognitive Health Outcomes in ANCA-Associated Vasculitis Patients

    Get PDF
Anti-neutrophilic cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV) is a rare and life-threatening autoimmune disease with severe complications. Central nervous system (CNS) involvement is thought to be rare, however, the prevalence of neuropsychiatric complications have been reported in 30-60% of AAV cases. Studies looking at the cognitive health outcomes of AAV patients with CNS involvement have noted cognitive impairment as a significant contributor to reduced quality of life with unique challenges in care and treatment. The data collected from this primary output could be combined with global assessments of cognitive function as well as the application of advanced imaging tools to study the relationship between vascular abnormalities, disease activity and cognition. Our findings could prompt the use of non-invasive imaging to identify early signals of AAV complications and prevent irreversible damage

There is a shrinking stock of all types of affordable housing, resulting in the inflation of rent across all demographics. The rise in rent makes housing detrimentally unaffordable for people with extremely low incomes. Mayor Bill de Blasio also recognizes that there is an affordable housing crisis, promising to build over 200,000 units of affordable housing in the next ten years. However, his plan applies to new and privately-owned construction, not the massive public stock that the city already owns. The state of disrepair of public housing combined with generally underutilized sites in 1950’s projects makes the public portion of the affordable housing stock particularly opportunistic for future development. Our project will redevelop an existing public housing site to higher standards of building performance, density, and public programs. We will devise a development strategy for the reconstruction of our site, as well as a site strategy to meet the overall needs of the neighborhoods. We will use a faster-than-traditional construction methodology in order to not displace existing tenants for an extended period of time. Public housing can be efficient, strategic, and integral to the culture of the neighborhood

Ferrite: A Judgmental Embedding of Session Types in Rust

This paper introduces Ferrite, a shallow embedding of session types in Rust. In contrast to existing session type libraries and embeddings for mainstream languages, Ferrite not only supports linear session types but also shared session types. Shared session types allow sharing (aliasing) of channels while preserving session fidelity (preservation) using type modalities for acquiring and releasing sessions. Ferrite adopts a propositions as types approach and encodes typing derivations as Rust functions, with the proof of successful type-checking manifesting as a Rust program. We provide an evaluation of Ferrite using Servo as a practical example, and demonstrate how safe communication can be achieved in the canvas component using Ferrite
